So Bees On Toast - Not As Easy As You Think !

Chris Evans | 10:31 UK time, Tuesday, 19 January 2010

The thing is they're protected you see - wasps, you're fine with - but bees, unless they've died of natural causes - forget it Sherlock.

One listener did also contact me to alert me to the existence of Einstein's bee theory, but declined to enlighten me any further - as a result of which I am going to go interweb surfing the jaffa I am done here.

In other news, Come Dine With Me continues to rule our telly viewing at night, especially when Mrs. DJ has rustled up some perfectly cooked lamb along with Chantenay baby carrots and Boulangere potatoes for us to eat whilst watching - both to die for.

And as it happens we did actually eat at the table and do the crossy before we prepared our fix of CDWM.

Goodbye for now, see you on the radio tomorrow.

    Morning Chris!

Not sure if you got my text, but the backwards Wrong Bong reminded me of the start of Queen's Play The Game.

WM - slowly getting all my gear from Suffolk to Staffordshire, although with only a Micra to do so, it's a case of just how much can I get in there .... the most important things are "up there" already tho - my CDs and vinyl collection! Oh, and my shoes and boots ...... in their own cupboard - yeeeeee haaaaaaaa!

So, two more return trips and one one-way and then it's official - 4th February to be precise. Still loads to sort out but slowly getting there.

BTW - does anybody know if I have to notify the passport office of my move? Or do they just ID you from your passport number/date of birth etc?

Candidates coming in for interviews here today - and my office (soon to be theirs!) looks like a bomb has hit it due to the end of year archiving marathon. Hey ho! At least by the time the newbie starts it'll all be done and I can hand over the baton in a nice smooth styleeee.

Finally, CLP - every day is a special day for me now, but if I could represent England on the 4th February I will love you forever!

    Ta very muchly

Great show today Chris - Keep up the good work!!. I too am addicted to CDWM although I tend to get my fix on a Sunday, when it shows the whole week, I get through the ironing without moaning! x

Loving the show Chris, only get to listen up to 9 and so have not heard the hello goodbye thing yet - can't wait for a day off to see what it is all about.

CDWM - you've got me hooked as well now and loved the young guy who did the Bond theme evening and then got drunk - hilarious!

Just caught up with yesterday's blog and loved the Swedish banter - very good.

    Hi Chris:

I can't begin to tell you how much you have changed the morning habits in our household! It's all hands on deck prior to the 7am news, so we don't miss the start of the show. I include MrS in this, completely unheard of. He loves the show and is constantly commenting on this or that.

The "representing England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales" thingy is a great idea. I don't have a good reason to be mentioned - so over to somebody else!

    Hi Chris,

Thought the show today was tip top, especially the bit about the bees.

Bought my husband a solitary bee nester for Christmas- bees need all the help they can get. It looks like a small wooden hive with lots of holes for the lone bees to shelter in. My hubby was chuffed to bits as he loves his garden and we love seeing the bees. Can't say I'm a big fan of wasps though. Don't get me started on hornets!

Off to tackle teenage daughters bedroom- need to find me de-fumigator! I'm going in and I may be some time!

I've loved Come Dine With Me for years, mainly because of the narrator. I'd love it if he could follow me around all day making his little quips. I'd be tempted to enter it myself only they always give us veggies rubbish marks!

On the butter vs marge debate, may I say controversially that I can't stand butter, it makes me feel sick!

I have other things to say too, but feel I've set the cat among the pigeons too much - when there was no such intention. Time this blog went vocal so people can hear the tone of each message and maybe not feel offended, hurt or alienated.

Cheers chaps, its been fun, insightful, supportive and debatable

MCW - agree - without the bees we are gonners - but I'm allergic to bee stings so I am not over keen on them but I do summon up courage to let them out if they are stuck in the house/office. Wasps - no chance - zap!!!

    Don't go MW,a!
I had been lurking for some time before I became brave enough to post a comment the other day. I have always enjoyed the banter between the bloggers and you all seem very friendly and welcoming to one another.
Yes, it is a shame that we dont have sound when we blog, because words can be taken the wrong way and misconstrued. Although I'm not sure what Bingo's blogs would sound like! I think that a healthy
debate is good and I for one enjoy hearing everyones point of view. I also think that it is best to be honest and say what you think- you had a valid point to make.

By the way, chocolate will go off in a year, gets a white powdery coating. Not that chocolate ever stays that long in my house!

Hi Pen - he he, you know what the answer to the house is, don't you!! Still exactly the same as they left it weeks and weeks ago. Loved your thought for the day Darce.

I love CDWM but the OH doesn't, so don't get to watch it much, but the narrator makes it for me, he is hilarious.

I missed the Bees on Toast bit, might have to listen again, sounds funny. Because of you I started to watch CDWM, but I haven't seen that many, I think if there is nothing else to watch I can usually find it on somewhere. I am quite addicted to "How's it Made" and "How does it Work" - very interesting or am I just sad?

AF - Glad you've picked up the Nugget of Niceness, it's good to try and remember at the end of each day the nice things that have happened. I've thought of one for the past 18 days, so it's going well.

MW, a! - If they do anything to Cadburys chocolate that I'm not happy with, then there will be serious trouble and I mean serious trouble. As long as they still keep it Fairtrade as well.

This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. Explain.

The fussy one in our house is the OH - he recently had eggs and beans on toast except the egg were on 2 of the slices of toast on one plate, the beans were in a bowl and 2 more slices of toast were on a third plate.....

As far as I am concerned the soggier the better when it comes to beans or eggs and toast. I always dip my chips as well so although I like them to be fairly crisp, they are soggy by the time they get to my mouth.

    Good luck this afternoon Debbie.

  • Comment number 59.

without wishing to rake all this up again, can i say I was very upset to read Giddykippa's post from the previous blog and the way they took what I said. When I put in my post that "it is just writing on a wall" I did not in any way intend to belittle anyone's feelings about the blog. Quite the reverse in fact, I have been quite fed up at the way people have been trying to dictate (probably another bad choice of word, but there you go!) what others should say on here, and not just leave each person to make of the blog what they will.

Which is what I think they should in fact do - live and let live. That's what I was getting cross about.

So sorry GK if I upset you - that was never my intention nor any other blogger.

Think I will stick to spa conversations in future - much less controversial! Unless there's any more room under that rock, Baggy?!

    56 - Chrissie S - couldn't agree more.

Cheryl and Nic - you two and your respective ex-partners have been in my prayers since reading the public breakdown of your existing relationships and the very public innuendoes of what goes on over the weekends. I am praying for both of you to show a bit more discretion and wish you both good luck, I sincerely hope you can make it work together. I am praying for your ex partners that they find the strength to move on and find future happiness and peace in their hearts.

I can understand in some ways that you are full of beans and in the first flush of something new and exciting but in my opinion that may be better off kept on FB which is a more private forum that individuals can choose to look at or have access to.

Mr Chris Evans - Tomorrow is not particularly a 'Special Day' for me; at least not yet!
Maybe it may become a 'Special Day'; hopefully not for incorrect reasons!

Refering to the previous blog, I am not feeling the need to complain about any blog writers who raised their concern my way!

Also refering to the above mentioned blog, it is a shame that some of us have had our posts removed for having fun learning/ exchanging swedish!

    This wouldn't happen in Sweden!

  • Comment number 66.

I wonder why they moderate just for speaking swedish? It made me laugh a lot!! are they worried someone might be being rude?

    CG x

  • Comment number 67.

    CG x

  • Comment number 68.

Oops...and there was me thinking that my post @ 42 would act like a little magic button which would make everything alright!!

For what it's worth, I think that posts like 56 & 60 above could be made in a more appropriate forum. I didn't follow the various 'goings-on' before the last couple of weeks, but can't imagine that it's a good thing when an open blog like this one gets this personal.

  • Comment number 69.

You are both entitled to your opinions and to express them on here, as am I. Neither of you, as far as I am aware, are privvy to details regarding our ex partners or whether they have access or care to read this blog. Help - I don't know how to word this so I hope that it comes out in the way it is intended.

Dorset - I agree that personal comments should be avoided in public forums, however, as the cat was let out of the bag so to speak in this forum, I can fully understand why Chrissie and Daisy have made their feelings public. Both of them have stated that it is their personal feeling and I think they have the right to post accordingly. I for one will miss both Deev and Nic if this puts them off blogging. Steps off of soap box.

mtd - I wouldn't dispute that it might have been put 'out there' by Deevs and Nic originally, but I don't see why people feel the need to respond so personally on public forum - 'other listings magazines are available', and all that!

The other thing to consider is 'new' bloggers. I'm sure that there are new bods popping in to the blog all the time, and coming across these sorts of entries are likely to put them off.

Like Laura pointed out, the blog is for fans of the CLP show, and we seem to have gone somewhat 'off topic' here!

    Roll on tomorrow...!!!

    Hello all

Those of you who know me... know I don't blog often. But after lurking for a couple of days and reading todays post I feel compelled to say...

This blog is a broad community, it is public, and therefore it's users are a diverse group, with differing opinions on many a varied subject. Opposing and contrasting views are what make a blog a blog, the interaction and exchange of views is what makes it a forum that is interesting and challenging at times. But in my humble opinion our posts should be respectful and considerate to all it's users.

No one should feel they should opt out of this blog because other contributors don't agree with something... agree to differ folks - it happens - it's not Haiti! Just a blog!

Right I'm joining SuperBagpuss under that rock!

    Done...

    Happy Birthday Dorset's Daughter.

Has anybody thanked Bingo today?? If not, Bingo thank you for your continuing thanks....

CLP, nothing special to celebrate tomorrow (it was my birthday 3 weeks ago tomorrow!!!) but I would be proud to represent my country (England). Did you want some nominations as well???

Scotland - oooh so many to choose from, but probably MWK has the most to celebrate at the moment.
Wales - Crumpy so that she can cheer her son up (how are things there btw?)
Ireland - depends if you need north or south - if both then Dan and Clodagh seem to be the most obvious choices.

Q What's the difference between a cat and a comma?
    A. A cat has its claws at the end of its paws; a comma is a pause at the end of a clause

..try tellin that when youve had a few!

Off to write price lists now..unless anyone wants to distract me?!

I did a course on head, neck, shoulder and back massage and have the Calvin Klein oils too (other brands are available). I always need a neck massage, but it's not so easy to do it on yourself.

I would just like to reiterate what Suzy-Boozy said...

In the great scheme of things what people say on this blog and whether they want to stay or go really pales into insignificance as to what is going on in Haiti. Shall we all get a little perspective and may be our thoughts, and prayers should be with them rather than our own shallow worlds (and I include myself whole heartedly in that last comment).

I am so blessed and I constantly need to be reminded of that. So lets give thanks that we have freedom of speech, love in our lives, jobs to go to, money in the bank, clothes on our back, food on our table, a roof over our head, friends and family that love us, and Cadburys chocolate to eat!

Back under the rock with Baggy et al

    mtd - oh i see!! (or O I C if we're shortening stuff!)

AliB - hear hear! entirely agree!

and Dorset - not sure that it will! my daughter will be 11 at the beginning of March - we go from very grown up behaviour, helping, good conversation etc, to shouting and slamming doors for no apparent reason! am trying to be patient but it can be very wearying!! still only another 7 or 8 years to go, eh?!

Getting mighty hot being on this toast all day. Can I get off now? Thanks for asking for me Sus55.

Nice man in a very large security van has just delivered my spare phone charger from (it appears) a very efficient on line - nok on the door-phone folk so the scowl that has been appearing on my face as I saw my battery reduced to almost nothing is getting back to its usual smile and the hotel have found the one I left and are posting to me as well :o)))) Wont do that again! Think I need someone trailing in my wake to pick up all the stuff I forget/lose etc etc.

Scoobs, I was giggling away catching up with the swedish last night. Great stuff. Don't hold out much for the Cad shareholders - they are probably large institutions who need to top up their pension funds. You can live in hope though.

Jeli - I know - I despair sometimes !!I looked for televisions not long ago under te - silly me !

#59 鈥 Cornish Girl, I just wanted to let you know that my post was in no way directed at you or even at any one person on this Blog 鈥 and I definitely not upset at what you wrote in your reply, or indeed your first post :0) as MCW said, it鈥檚 a shame we don鈥檛 have voices on here so we can understand each other better 鈥 which is why I majorly (is that a word?) over compensate on the :0)normally!

My post was just a general response to quite a few posts I had read over the last few days, and I wanted to put my point of view across to the general public at large, I feel very calm about the whole thing, it is just my opinion after all and we are all entitled to that :) I hardly ever read all the posts, and for the most part have no clue at all on the general goings on of most bloggers鈥.

鈥︹ as a very wise man once said

鈥淚 do my thing and you do yours,
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations 鈥
And you are not in this world to live up to mine.
    You are You & I am I
If by chance we should find each other,
    Its Beautiful,
If not, it can鈥檛 be helped鈥

    Kip x :)

How can it get any harder?!?

I'm joking really...she's a little 'angel' most of the time, but I'm ever so slightly fearful for the teenage years!
