Super Weekends - More Please

Chris Evans | 10:20 UK time, Monday, 22 March 2010

Two absolutely brilliant days. Super Saturday at my pub was off the scale. Our lovely chef Paval and the boys in the kitchen prepared some of the best food I have ever eaten.

The oxtail gnocchi was simply marvellous - to die for.

Supercar Sunday was almost too successful, over a thousand people turned up and they brought the best day of the year so far with them - exactly like last year.

A truly great 48 hours. Thank you to everyone involved.

Back to writing book two today, I have so nearly finished it. First draft that is.

Have a wonderful day you lot !

Morning CLP - glad your weekend went well!

I had a nice surprise this morning, got in my car, and Mr JG had filled it up with petrol for me! Which now makes me wonder where he went in it yesterday afternoon...hmmmm!

Glad my post #277 from the last blog was reinstated!

I've imported this from the last blog. It's a moan-fest, but bare with me:

    Chris Evans.....you're my hero!!

The comments you made this morning about moaning sportsmen were bang on.

Martin Johnson and Rafa Benitez take note:

£170,000 a week these idiots are paid to kick a ball about twice a week, and all they do is whinge and moan at how unfair life is. The referee this, the referee that.....it's boring.

Try pulling on a pair of leathers, a helmet, and a back-protector, and do 30 laps wheel to wheel at 200mph, and then come to me and moan; I may just listen then.

Get on with it, stop looking to the ref for a free kick every 5 seconds, and be a man, and play what is supposed to be a man's sport. Football and rugby in the UK, at present, is nothing more than an audition for R.A.D.A.

Grow a pair. Well said Mr. Evans.

P.S. By the way Chris, the music on the show is fantastic this morning.

P.P.S. Carry on people, rant over.

    Morning all.

Glad they put it back JG.

Yes I just posted on the last blog about the change in the weather from yesterday. Huge black clouds here.

Get well wishes to your poorly girl Andy.x

Back to work for me today.

Its so much nicer getting around when its stays light for longer and this time next week, well even a possibility of getting home in the light, whoopee!!

Still not spotted a swallow yet, maybe today.

    Bingo, spit it out!!

    Morning all

Thank you, thank you so much, Christoff, for making my Sunday morning so special. Having spent it at the M with Mr P and the very lovely Darce, you have confirmed what I always knew, that you are a thoroughly decent affable bloke. Thanks also for the photo. As you say weather was perfect, got a bit worried after Saturday’s rain. I promise not to go on about it; I don’t want to risk boring the pants off everyone, so I will now shut up!

Now, so agree with Tobes, having almost returned to terra firma, I’m on the way up again after listening to the best show this morning, the Beatles, ELO, and Rod Stewart, to name but a few. In a word, fab-u-lous! Keep up the good work. So looking forward to your next book.

Have a lovely day everyone, sunny darn sarf, at the mo.

Andy, best wishes to little one x

What an uplifting blog as usual Mr Evans.. always makes me positive about the world..thank you!

And i need positivity this morning as my new starter (from the 12 interviews i did) has failed to turn up! I ask you, do people just not want jobs or is it me? I am beginning to doubt my people judgement now although it normally doesnt let me down. Anyway, back to the drawing board..beginning to get used to it there!

Rant over, my apologies for that on aMonday morning!

I have no intention of getting naked with you.

While you may have a point about footballers, you are completely out of order regarding rugby.

No rugby player earns the type of money you quoted, I'm not sure any footballer in this country does either by the way, and I'd like to see you tell a 20 stone prop forward who suffers a gash on his head, gets it stiched up and is back on the pitch in ten minutes that he is auditioning for RADA.

    Morning all,

Chris - Supercar Sunday was indeed a great success and packed! Thank you so much for making two lady bloggers so happy by posing for a photo with us - and you remembered Pen being there last year, what a lovely man you are.

Hi Pen - have you come down to earth yet? Was so lovely to finally meet you - am still laughing at the way Mr Pen said 'Hey Chris how about a photo with a couple of bloggers' as if he had known about it all along!

Date went OK Pen - only trouble was he forgot he'd said that we would have dinner on the phone, so we didn't eat and I was starving!

MTF - no I didn't tap a lot of ladies on the shoulder before Pen - had been searching the crowd for about an hour and a half before I spotted them. Didn't have much to go on - just that she would be with a tall man!Really thought I wasn't going to find her but so glad I did - she is lovely.

Tobestar - so good to see you back.

Andy - hope your litle girl feels better soon x

Hope you had a lovely birthday Beez x

Don't get me wrong my friend, I'm not unilaterally having a go at anyone that happens to cross my path. It is but only my little point of view on things as I see it.

As for generally slagging off top-flight sportsmen for fun, I think not.

I have a key insight into what it takes to make it at the top and my quote over cash is well founded. For everyone? Nope. I never suggested it was the case. Some professional footballers at Manchester United and Liverpool do indeed earn that. And, some of them are work-shy premadonnas born of the system. Is it right? Is it fair? No. But life isn't fair.

My comments were broad-reaching, and maybe slightly disingenuous with regard the rugby players. I apologise for that. I happen to know Mick Skinner, who is a top man. I also happen to know Belinda, Brian Moore's wife (former producer of the MotoGP on the ´óÏó´«Ã½) and wage structure aside, I do at least have an insight into what the score is, so to speak.

There are, and I stand by it, too many moaners and whingers in certain sports. Rugby players are often employed outside of the sport to make a living. Skinner is an I.T. person, and was during his playing days. I am more than happy to admit I'm wrong, and I should know better than to compartmentalise people. My bad. I'll always call my wrongdoings.

As for being naked, I don't recall even mentioning nakedness. However, for a laugh, and for a reputable charity, I'd strip my kit off and be perfectly happy for it to be on Youtube. Give the nation a laugh I say.

A man is not known by inches alone.

Beez: sorry I missed your birthday yesterday - hope you had a really lovely day. Perhaps you will allow me to buy you a celebration Whisky Mac when I see you on Saturday?!

MTF: glad to hear you are feeling better - but just take it nice and easy.

CSN: what a time for you just now. Hope all is well with your daughter, but from what you are saying the medical staff are watching closely.

Susan: looking forward to meeting you on Saturday!

Andy: hope your wee tootsie will be well again soon. Breaks my heart when children are not well!

Scoobs: couldn't believe my eyes about your new start not turning up. No way did you make a mistake - the individual in question is the one who has made a BIG mistake!

Last, but not least, Pen & Darce: how lovely for you both to meet each other, and then have a photograph taken with Chris! I bet you are both still grinning from ear to ear! He is just a sweetheart, isn't he?

    Hope everyone else is ok!

Right, that's it. I'm not taking the rejection any more. I've sent Steve Wright in the afternoon three sets of oldies, and he's played none of them. I'm feeling slightly bemused, and may I say gutted, at Steve Wright in the afternoons obvious lack of Tobe love.

To that end (and because I'm feeling unloved today) I think the CLP bloggers should compile a list of oldies to send to Steve Wright in the afternoon as a group effort.

You need 20 songs so Steve Wright in the afternoon can peruse and play, so, pony up Evans people. When we have it nailed, I'll email Steve Wright in the afternoon Sunday love songs and make it clear we will not be denied any longer. It has to be done because Mark and Stuart read my emails out all the time, and I'm not being dissed by 'Oy Wrighty got any Quo' any longer, oh no.

We need great tunes, and I'll start the list with.....

    Hello Everybody Peeps,

Loved the show this morning Chris - great music, great banter - what a way to start the day. Elder gorgeous boy turned down the volume on the radio in the kitchen as it was too loud!!! It wasn't too loud if you wanted to hear the radio all over the house and at the top of the street! ;)

Thank you very much for all the good luck vibes for younger gorgeous boy's footie yesterday. IT WORKED!!! They didn't win but they managed to score two goals which was fantastic. Final score - 5-2 - yep count 'em TWO!!!

Pen and Darce - amazed you managed to meet up - but can imagine the excitement especially meeting (and having a photo taken with) the gorgeous CLP.

Belated happy birthday wishes Beez - glad you had a good time.

Andy - hope your wee girlie is soon better - not nice when they're poorly is it - have some get well hugs for her.

Tobes - my suggestion(s) would have to be Born to be alive by Patrick Hernandez (I hadn't heard it in years 'til Simon Mayo played it when he sat in for CLP ages ago) or Wonderful Tonight Eric Clapton.

MTF - take it easy lass - don't go daft - you'll still be recovering.

Weather is a bit miz here today too - had a glorious day yesterday. It was the Lincoln 10K yesterday and younger gorgeous boy competed in the primary schools run (1.77k) - he did really well and I got all emotional when he crossed the finishing line.

mSc - I had ham and cheese salad, mushroom cuppa soup, fruit and a yog for lunch - v disappointing. Could quite easily go anything with chips.

    Good afternoon blogettes

Thank you for the congrats on 'little fella' passing his test. I'm hoping not to be worrying too much when he ventures out. He's not a teenager and so I hope he will be a little more sensible ........... well I always was an optimist. Only one of his friends had previously passed their test (long story - when they were all 17 one of their year @ school had a car accident and another of their year died - very traumatic - put them all off learning) the time has now come for them all to start. 'Little fella' I have a feeling will be the first of many over the coming few months to pass.

He had a dreadful couple of lessons just before his test. Wouldn't believe his parents that it always happens. Means you're going to pass but what do parents know ............ nowt!

Anyway thanks to all who cleared out their cupboards the Jumble Sale at the weekend went well made just over £500 for our village hall revamp fund. Lots of great people giving up their morning or afternoon to help out - so glad it was a success. Only another £99,500 to go!

oh, oh, oh!!! Andy you've just reminded me.

Tobes what about There's A Guy Works Down the Chip Shop Swears He's Elvis by Kirsty MacColl? I know that's my third suggestion but there's just so many good tunes.

Nowt wrong with a bit of Spandau Ballet.

I just downloaded 'These Dreams' (extended mix) by Heart.

The male fraternity might balk, but it's a hell of a tune.

Well if we can have multiple entries into this list then i have a few more..

Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles
    The Chain by Fleetwood Mac
    Back in Black by AC/DC
When September Ends by Green Day
Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance

Rightio you gorgeous peeps, I'm going to have to go now - only 7 mins 'til home time. Sorry all you full time bean counters (paper shufflers) but you can console yourself with the fact that I won't be sitting down with a cuppa and my feet up when I leave here. I've got to get to the supermarket for a micro-shop, school for kids and home to cook tea before taking 4 'rowdy' teenagers to ATC.
    Hopefully be back later.

    Toodle-oo for now,

    GailyB :)

GailyB - Most of us bean counters are key clackers these days, rather than paper shufflers ;O)
    Scoobs - Multiple entries?! Ooer....:O)

Scoobs, bums, nothing in for lunch, had to go with cubed cheddar and pickled beetroot! And no, red sauce would have made no difference to me!!

Tobes Mike & The Mechanics - Living Years (someones already nicked my Spandau one)
Paul Carrack - Eyes of Blue
Lulu - Where The Poor Boys Dance (if you don't know it, utube)
or Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply

How are we gonna know if this attack works? I only found out mine were on when he said it at the beginning of the show!
