Beautiful Day - Here's The Goal

Chris Evans | 10:32 UK time, Tuesday, 13 April 2010

Get home as quickly as possible re write phase of book ll.

Write like billy-o for four hours, go for a drive and a cuppa somewhere with the wee one and the ex-girl on the sofa.

Feel great today, really really positive, no reason in particular. Had seven solid hours sleep last night, maybe that's something to do with it.

I know I had seven hours because my wife has a new "app" on her phone. You put it under your pillow and it tells you what kind of sleep you had, and for how long you had it. I think it's "app" one billion and four - something like that.

Right, power nap, then brekkie and then power up that PC baby, power it up I tell ya.

    Morning all

Started as a lovely day here too but clouded over now.

Christoff - always good to have a goal, as it focuses your work. Hope the rewrite goes well.

Lots of end of year tax things to do, so I'm not here really!

Deevs, how is the job hunting going. Enjoy the good weather awhile before looking - you deserve it.

  • Comment number 6.

    Hi Capt Stella

Job hunting is ongoing. Had a spattering of interviews but nowt yet. I can almost cite my CV verbatim! Having said that, I had a call yesterday I am very very excited about and will be a happy bunny if it comes to fruition. Also just had an agency on the phone with a possible temp assignment starting Friday for a month - hope to hear more on that one later today but not holding out too much hope as its public sector and they're a fussy auld bunch!

Hello CLP and bloggers of all shapes and sizes.

CLP-the reason you feel positive today is because you are a positive person. I always wake up feeling negative until I start feeling positive, usually after 10am. Then for the rest of the day it all depends on what happens as to whether or not I'm positive or negative. Maybe I'm just too sensitive.

I don't need a phone 'app' under my pillow. All depends on how many visits to the loo and leg cramp.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning All,

Chris getting a good nights sleep makes such a difference, I am a bit of an insomniac and only ever sleep for 2/3 hours at a time, it's very rare that I sleep for 5/6 but when I do I feel so much better. I don't think I have ever slept right through for more than 6 hours - it's a luxury I would love to experience!

Talking of sleep - my last decent nights sleep was Wednesday but I didn't manage to get a couple of hours last night after dinner and a couple of hours during the night. It's a great feeling when you wake up and realise you've been asleep for a couple of hours! Hopefully that means I'm on the mend now that I am able to sleep and not spending 24hrs coughing!

Thanks again for all your get well wishes xx It's been great having the chance to blog! When I am back at work, hopefully tomorrow, I will make a conscious effort to blog in the evenings.

MC - I would go for the gas BBQ. Most of my friends and family have gas ones and they don't have any complaints. We even manage to dodge the odd rain shower because you can fire them up so quickly! ;) xx

PiP - re #109 on prev blog. That is so typical isn't it?

Cheryl - 11 page app form! You deserve the job just for having the patience to complete the form!

Last but by no means least - CONGRATULATIONS Chris! I am over the moon to hear the One Show news. Great end to the week and great start to the weekend!

    Have a good day folks!
    Mary xx

CLP-oh dear, when I said that I feel positive after 10am I didn't mean after your show finished. On the contrary, your show keeps me going until 9.30. It's just that I can't dance in the morning.

    Chris,

I went for a 7 o'clock swim this morning so missed the start of the show but heard 8-9 and exceedingly good it was too...
Where do you get your energy from? Having been to the gym last night and a swim this morning and with the added bonus of the sun being out, I am feeling positive too...maybe I should write a book.

JG - I have the James MEN farewell tour gig on dvd and no, no dress wearing for me - I draw the line at suspenders...

Hiya Chris: this is going to sound like utter bunkum, but I swear to you that my positivity starts the moment I hear you at 7.05 every morning. The sheer energy of your show, the entire team, but in particular - you - starts my day brilliantly. All my worries and problems in life still exist, but for an hour and a half each day, all I have to think about is what's blaring out of two radios in the house!

Chris, just great news about the One Show - Friday nights just got better!

To everyone who sent me good wishes about my visit to the Physio: thank you, I really appreciate it - I am such a wimp! Well, I have survived, and so far so good. If the injection is going to help, it should take effect in 3-5 days, so we shall see.

Cheryl: this is tough for you, I can understand, but it WILL all work out. Good to see you are retaining your sense of humour!

Mary: glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Hope you are not thinking of going back to work too soon?

    Hope everyone else is ok.

    C xx

  • Comment number 14.

#11 was that a back handed compliment to Steve Wright, Bingo?

Must admit, I missed Steve yesterday. His show on Friday was superb - excellent toons were played.

  • Comment number 15.

I think Dale is sitting in for Steve this week MCW.

Chrissie - fingers crossed that the jab works and well done for getting through it. I'm an uber-wimp when it comes to the dentist and am already starting to think about the visit to my new dentist in May - my previous one in Suffolk was so understanding and helpful, I only hope the new one is as good.

And yes, if all else fails I will always do my best to retain my sense of humour although there have been post-interview tears of disappointment on a couple of occasions. It gets to the point where you're almost made to feel guilty for actually WANTING to get a job! Madness.

#13 Agree with you entirely there Chrissie, the Breakfast show definitely sets me up for the day. Although I missed it this morning, so will listen to it on i player this afternoon as I tackle the Everest sized mountain of ironing!

#15 Will listen to Chris then instead of Dale! Perfick!

Deevs- You would have thought that potential employers must look upon you as one of those rare breeds of people- someone who is prepared to do something and stick at it. Unfortunately, many employers these days can't see the wood from the trees. (Not that I am comparing you to wood!!!)

Have to go to see a man about a tyre! Not a pothole this time, but a nail in one !! Annoying is putting it mildly! (and expensive!!)

  • Comment number 17.

Cheryl: going back to your 11 page job application - I have to say that I think employers (not all of them of course) are just over the top these days. I don't know whether it's because they think they hold all the cards or whatever, but I have heard horror stories from people about jobs they are in, jobs they are applying for, etc.

You have one or two good irons in the fire, and something will definitely turn up.

Secondly - do I need to print them on official paper or is black on white okay?

  • Comment number 23.

    Baggy

I thought you were going to ask how they fit into the envelopes! Aren't P11Ds what you get if you have taxable benefits, and are usually done with P46s at the end of the financial year?

  • Comment number 26.

Bingo, Bingo, why tell fibs, you get found out in the end. You have good girlfriend and good job which lots of people would like to have. You are so nice - be happy with what you have.

  • Comment number 27.

    Baggy

If you have to complete P11d's you just need to indicate that on the P35 at the relevant place. They don't have to be done until July, so can be dealt with after you have done the P60's and filed the P35 online.

If you're using the Revenue's software to complete the form, both P60's and P11d's plain paper is fine as it will produce them as PDF's, even if they do look strange in black and white.

    Hope that helps.

Home from the salt mines. Saw my name check earlier and then poop old PiP got modded! Bums as Annie would say.

Any ideas what I can have for tea? so far all I can think of is egg on toast.
If summat is suggested that whets the tastebuds, I might even get back in the car and pop to the shops to purchase ingredients (assuming I don't already have them to hand)
Will make a cuppa while you lot have a think!!

Pip - I didn't get to see your post before it got moderated so please don't think I'm being rude for not responding! And you stay right where you are missus!

Bingo - I agree with the others, honesty is the best policy.

A chicken bundle: a chicken portion, with lots of chopped veggies (onions, celery, peppers, mushrooms, courgettes, cherry tomatoes - that kind of stuff - seasoned with herbs, salt and pepper). Wrap it all up in a foil "bundle" and cook in the oven for an hour or so while you go and have a nice relaxy bath!

    Good to see you!

PiP - I read it before it got modded and I can't see why it got modded, esp as it was directed to me (in part at least)

Don't work for the govt anymore, hence my ability to post during day, as no border guards at work!

Hi Mary - thank you. I've got another appointment next week with another agency in Birmingham City Centre. I WILL get there, but I'm not the world's most patient lady!

See Crumpy - it must be chicken night. I'm doing chicken too - roast chicken with a sage butter smothered all over it, new potatoes and veggies.

Deevs - thanks for your support!

Nic - could well be although who knows.

Mary - I'm not sure I'm allowed to repost the bit that was aimed at you. In essence it said I was glad you were feeling better and I might watch the documentary again. (Although now I don't want to as I now have a bad taste in my mouth about it - thanks 大象传媒!)

Crumpy - I think I can repost the bit relating to you (but if it gets pulled again then clearly not!). It said: 'Andy - are you posting via a non-work computer? Crumpy and I found that although we can read the blog from our workstations we can no longer post. I have to wait until I'm on the train now :-('

    Andy - that explains it!

Crumpy - I'm having roast beef in home-made gravy with mash and steamed veg. It was left over from my whopping roast on Sunday. We had beef in black bean sauce and noodles yesterday and plan to use up the last bit today.

    Hello everyone

First day off in the last couple of weeks, lots of cleaning, washing and ironing, best part of the day was having the time to walk the dog myself.

Daughter now home, recovering slowly.Little boy who has enjoyed living at nanny and grandads house has also gone home and is being very good with baby sister, he stands by the moses basket talking to her. How sweet is that.
Perfect baby at the moment, feeds, sleeps and daughter has to wake her up for night feeds. Hope it continues.

Other daughter who's baby is due on the 24th is fine, she is moving house on the 30th. Don't we just love our children!

Will my life ever return to normal, not in the near future.

Deevs, sorry to hear your still seeking work. Hope you find something very soon. xx

Bingo, you naughty boy, tell the truth. Nothing wrong in being a truck driver.

Beez, it was lovely to chat to you on the phone last week. You were the first person I told after hearing the news about the baby's birth. Hope all is well with you and your work load is going down. xx

Chrissie, fingers crossed that the injection works for you.

    Lots of love to everyone.

Love all the foodie stuff for dinner, will have to read tomorrow, and get some ideas!

Have a nice evening everyone - lottery day tomorrow - you never know!

CSN, glad children and grandchildren are ok. The little granddaughter sounds like a perfect baby - sleeping!!

Went for lunch today with daughter-in-law and 6month old granddaughter and I think we are now friends (granddaughter, that is) - she didn't cry at all when she looked at me!!! The one hour drive there every week has been worth it. It's lovely buying pink thingys, eh?

Just about to go home and saw your post, CSN. Thank you for your wee message to me, especially with everything you are going through just now! Emma sounds like a wee angel, bless her. Glad to hear your daughter is recovering, and taking it easy. As for your other daughter having her house move a week after the new baby ... well, I am sure you will be there to help! I know I have said this before - please try to make sure you are looking after yourself and Mr CSN too - not easy, I can imagine!

Have to agree with Deev's it's a chicken night

I doing Chicken in Spanish Chicken sauce, (cheating sauce unfort, as no time to play mid week).

CSN - glad to here your dughter is back home and things are going OK. My GD is the same with her new little brother. Wheher that lasts when he can grab her toys etc who knows!?

Bingo - have to agree with all the others, truth is best, as it just gets more and more complicated as you go on and she'll think worse of you for not telling her.

We've have all prob at one time or other exaggerated who we know or what we do, but you can't form a long time friendship on that can you.

    All the best

Looks like it's gotta be 'Chicken Tonight" - other cook in sauces are available if required!

I've got some lovely fat thighs - steady modders - chicken variety in the freezer. A few short bursts on 30% in the micro should have them thawed in about half an hour. Definitely have shallots and garlic and a rather wizened carrot and some floppy celery, but think I have the makings of something there.

Might have to partake in a glass of something while I wait - RESULT!!
    Thanks, guys

Hi folks, have made it home without falling asleep at the wheel, I have never felt so tired at work before!

CSN, I'm glad that your daughter is home, and everything and everyone is fine, I really don't envy your other daughter though!

Missed you Chrissie (again) but glad you plucked up the courage for the injection, and I really hope it works for you!

Bingo, folk on here are right, more honesty is the best policy! Honest Guv!

    Annie, bet you can't wait!

Mr JG is also having chicken, but his is in a finest meal from ELH, that he chose himself..with some bacon and whatnot in it, probably no veg, but I'm too tired to argue...

I've found some microwave meal, all natural ingredients, in ELH, so am having mushroom risotto with no less than 6 different types of mushrooms - now I'd bever be able to do that for one from scratch!

Right, off to get his in the oven...

Years ago I went on a mushroom forage in Thetford Forest and learned loads about the nifty little funghis. Stay clear of sulphur caps and stink horns and anything red and spotty (yep, they do exist!) as these are poisonour toadstools.

I don't think Nic has ever had so many mushrooms since I moved it. When we had brekkie in the hotel in Preston on Saturday morning I had heaps of 'em!

    Hmmmmmm. Mushrooms!

CSN, I can't help thinking she might be better hoping to be late? I've not had kids, but I just KNOW that's not a good situation to be in!

Seza, yes, especially for 1 person, as mushrooms don't keep....just had a closer look, and it has madeira cream and baby spinach leaves with it!

Deev, have been on a similar forage in the forestry near Merthyr Tydfil, was great fun, but I would only trust the one's at my Mum's, if and when they appear. Has to be particular conditions in her fields, but one year we picked carrier bags full of them!
