Electric

Chris Evans | 17:17 UK time, Thursday, 28 October 2010

Simply cannot wait for tonight. Elton John and Leon Russell and the first Electric Prom - off the scale. Actually in bed for one hours sleep. After the show this morning and Children in Need filming all day with Gordon Ramsgate, I need to have a quick kip so's I can make the most of every second of what I already know is going to be an amazing live music experience.

Night night for now and see you on the radio 8pm live. Remember, Simon backstage from 1700 with Drivetime.

    Good Evening Chris.

I just don't know how you do all that you do.

But then The Electric Proms and Elton, etc. is enough to keep anyone going, the atmosphere will be, well, electric!

Looking forward to hearing it and, of course, the red button when available.

  • Comment number 14.

    Evening all

Good luck tomorrow Debs, I've decided not to try to get any tickets, I don't fancy the venue too much in Manchester! And I can do without the stress of it...

However on the local news tonight, they're showing people who have been camping out at the City of Manchester stadium since last night to buy tickets tomorrow morning, one of them was pregnant with twins due in 3 weeks!

Noce to see you back Mary :)

    Cheers all!

    JG x

  • Comment number 15.

I'm looking forward to hearing Judie Tzuke and her lovely daughter Bailey singing an Elton John song just before the main show starts.

I saw Judie Tzuke, Bailey, younger daughter Tallula and their superb band in concert last week and they were fantastic and Judie can still hit those high notes like she did in the 70s!

  • Comment number 16.

And Tiny Dancer plays and all is right with my world!!!

Hope you are all fine too.

Did someone say they was a glass of merlot going spare? I may join you if that's ok!

    Evening all

Well today has been a tad more expensive than expected. My monitor died yesterday. Today I bought a replacement, one of these new fangled widescreen jobbies, I think it may take a little getting used to. Finding the brightness control and turning it down slightly may help...

Hugs to those how need one

  • Comment number 26.

D'you know, if you ask me how much i like Elton John, I'd say he's ok.

Then i hear a lot of his music together and realise they are actually some of my favourite toons!

Tiny Dancer is possible my Desert island Disc and the boys are so pleased to have been treated to two of my renditions (or ruinations) tonight!

    Hi MTF now you're here!

And Hi CSN and anyone else who may have crept in while I was trying to type this!!

  • Comment number 28.

    I am so p'd off that I can't listen :(

    JG x

  • Comment number 29.

I'm not listening either, and I like Elton John. Listen again another time perhaps.

JG and Oz, really sorry to hear that, take it you both have had a really bad day.

  • Comment number 31.

    Apparently Watchdog is more important...

    JG x

  • Comment number 32.

JG, Grin and bear it for now, remember all this will pass (and it's on BB2 TV Sat at 10.45pm between 2 "about Alton John" programmes. If you can't watch it when it's on, hoepfully you'll get a bit of time on your own when you can)

I do wish you were closer ((xx))

Does Finlay not want to play with a nice noisy toy just about now? ;-)

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 33.

CSN: not too bad a day here. Just tired and no radio in this room. Hence I'm thinking best to listen again when I'm awake and in the mood. Back to the grindstone tomorrow, and it'll be another long one I'm sure. Weekend will no doubt be filled with more packing now I have a few more boxes. Upside to needing a new monitor is I've tidied some of this desk, not packing it up yet though!

JG: sounds like you need a big hug, we will meet one day soon and go for that drink too. Something to look forward to.

    Oz

  • Comment number 34.

That'll be Alton John, brother to that well known Piano Man, ELTON John!!

Oz, Did the monitor come in a nice big box that you can pack something else into? :-)

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 35.

JG and Oz, I know you are both going through a really hard time at the moment.

    Sending you big hugs.

    csn. xx

  • Comment number 36.

Seza, will set the Cloud thingy!

Snuggly dog is back in now, but he's not up for a snuggle tonight:( Grumbling around the place, too many firework maybe?

    HIGNFY on now...that's betterer!

Oz, yes, we do need to find that pub!

CSN, hope you are feeling better now?

    JG x

  • Comment number 37.

It came in a box alright Seza, but it's a bit of an odd shape to pack anything other than a monitor in. Depending who helps me move it may be wise to pack it back in it's box for the transfer. Will see nearer the time.

    Oz

  • Comment number 38.

CSN: It could be worse. In my case it's my decision, but I am occasionally doubting it. Still, am looking forward to the new challenges ahead, and most of the time I think I'm doing the right thing.

JG: My pub (which I'd say is at least 3 hours from you) or do we find one in the middle somewhere?

    Oz

  • Comment number 39.

Oz, it's probably 3 hours each way for us both to meet in the middle!! I seem to be at least 3 hours from anywhere at the moment!!

    JG x

  • Comment number 40.

I know that feeling, seems I've spent a fair few days doing 3 hour drives to places recently. Still 3 hours each is fairer than one of us spending 6 hours travelling.

    Oz

  • Comment number 41.

True Oz, but doesn't hold out for a good night, unless we stop over! LOL

    JG x

  • Comment number 42.

    JG,
You are 3 minus 2.5 from me , so come on down, up, over, round , you are welcome .

    MC xx

  • Comment number 43.

Bet you're all more than 3 from me!

We'll have to meet somewhere else!

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 44.

JG I still feel awful at the moment. LIke Finlay, Holly hates fireworks and is barking mad tonight!

Oz, I am sure you are at this time. But now that you have made your decision, you must look forward to what a great new life, lies ahead for you and I am not making this comment lightly.

    csn. xx

  • Comment number 45.

MC, thank you, I will take you up on that sometime! Might turn up with t'dog, and then you'll be sorry!! :)

    JG x

  • Comment number 46.

JG: now there's a jolly fine idea... :D Especially since I object to spending more time travelling to and from places than I spend at them... ;)

MC: can I gate crash? ;)

Beauty sleep required and a long day ahead tomorrow so will wuss out and call it a night. Hope to see you all tomorrow for FNWC.

    Oz

  • Comment number 47.

OK, we keep talking about a Manchester meet, it really is a lovely city! We must get one sorted for the Spring methinks!!

    JG x

  • Comment number 48.

Ok JG, but make it sooner rather than sometime :-)

OZ, of course , you are welcome. ;-)

Hi Seza, hope you are ok, CSN , get better soon.

MC - Trouble is, everyone arrives at Piccadilly, and it's not handy for the nicer bits!!

    JG x

  • Comment number 50.

    JG,

I was thinking more like Barbados or Antigua, we can do Manchester anytime ! Manchester is way too expensive and hot in the spring.

    MCxx

  • Comment number 51.

    MC I'm fine!

Spent the evening listening to my favouite song and making a huuuuuuge lasagne to share with my friends tomorrow night!

    You ok?

CSN Hope you feel better soon. These nasty cold things people have got are dragging on

Night Oz, hope you have a good day tomorrow

JG More ((x)) Does Finlay hate the firepwrks or try to join in with them?

  • Comment number 52.

    Seza,

    Lasagne sounds good ;-)
OZ, take care , sleep well.

Yes, i am fine thanks, just off to make my butties for tomorrow.

Take care all, and good luck to those that are attempting to get the Take That tickets .

    MC xx

  • Comment number 53.

Seza, he just joins in, he has no sense of fear at all!!

He's noticed the emotional change in the house, but he's coping well with it, and we are both being careful about it, although I've noticed Mr JG trying to "distance" himself from him, probably more for his own sake than Finlay's :(

    JG x

  • Comment number 54.

Can I ask here if you've decided where Finlay will live/

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 55.

Actually JG, the answer to that is probably NO! Go Away! SO just ignore. :-)

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 56.

Seza, of course, Finlay will be with me, his shifts would make it impossible to have a pet, and it was never even in question...I will move south of that bridge, and closer to work.

Plus, as Mr JG hates gardens, he will most likely get an apartment!

    JG x

  • Comment number 57.

JG I was just being nosy (sorry) but I can tell how much finlay means to you and hoped you would be able to keep him close

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 58.

I hope Chris has got his BIG alarm clock with him - he's going to need it in the morning!

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 59.

Before I say good night to you all, I just want to say I love this blog and all the people on it but i also read between the lines of many posts here and at my old age that isn't to hard to do. I always feel for people that have problems and want to reply whether here or in a personal message because that is me. I don't have airs and graces in my life. What you get is what you see and sorry if I have upset any one tonight.

Lots of love to you all and thank you for your kind wishes.

    Sleep well.

CSN, sleep well, hope you feel better soon.

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 61.

And on the other burning question, he is probably going to buy my Merc from me, and I will upgrade his Audi before we work it all out...

He is desperate to keep the Merc, and as you may have gathered, I'm not fond of it, so we'll sort something out, and swap the personalised plate around, or sell it! Not sure what to do about my name, have had 4 surnames already for various reasons, so not keen to switch again....

    JG x

  • Comment number 62.

CSN, I've never felt that!! You've always been very supportive to me!

I hope you feel better soon!

JG- only about 4 months but felt a lot longer as she was part of the family, she came from people who had found her as a stray, my mum had assumed all normal checks had been done but when she took the dog to be chipped the vet found a previous chip and located the original owners.

The good news is she has found a new lab :-)

    Arh thanks Baggy,

It's a bit more complicated than that. The charity I work for are in dispute with HMRC and we have a lovely man helping us (with a very sexy Welsh accent). I've just spoken to him and he has said could I spend a couple of hours phoning round people etc etc, like I've got a couple of hours to spare. I wouldn't mind but this has been dragging on for years and is now going to a tribunal which is why I need all the papework to be in tip top order.

    OK rant over.

Greetings Of Nice Ter CLP & ALL Reading This...

    Bingo Star 'ere...

CLP & ALL – Where do a start?
So much ter say, so much on me mind!
    A just don't know where ter start??@?
I'll start with Swarfeegar... CLP, yer 'ad me in stiches winding up Zoe Ball at the end of yer show!!!
For any who missed it, she asked what was Swarfegarr, Schwarfeegar... A may know what it is but a don't know 'ow ter spell it!!!!
CLP answered by 'e can only tell 'er if she's over 16... Then 'e said 'e would buy some for 'er birthday!!!!!
That's what 'appens when yerv gotta dad like Jonny Ball!!!!!
'e would more be working out 'ow much 28,000 tubs of Swaa... Swarfega... would cost if yer took off VAT at 17.5% & added on... Well yer get me drift all!!!!

A great show terdee CLP with Elton John & Gary Barlow on too!!!!!!!

Must admit this weekend is awesome for music on the beeb!!!!!!!
A was listening ter The John gig last night.... really enjoyed it!!!!!!
A like 'is guitarist too... seen many John gigs on tv & a like the way 'is electric guitarist... Jackson Jones... compliments Elton's great piano playing with some raw guitar riffs!!!!!!
Keyboard, Piano & guitar all go together... like bass & percusion compliment each other!!!!!

But as if The John gig wasn't enough... tonight it's The Plant wrocker... & the best of the lot on Saturday.... The Diamond!!!!!!
Can't wait ter see Neil Diamond play at The Round'ouse!!!!!!!

Talking of which... tonight's Jools 'olland Show is gonna be awesome.... Paul McCartney & Neil Diamond on the same show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that's one a will tape & keep in me archives!!!!!!
A tape all the Jools 'olland Show's & keep them to watch over & over again!!!!!!
Got some awesome shows on tape!!!!!!

A just love music all... just can't get enough of it!!!!!!
Still practising me guitar & singing every day... maybe one day I will get around to making some tunes... not easy with work in the way!!!!!!!

'ope all 'ave a nice weekend!!!!!!!!!

PS The latest tune by Elton John & Leon Russell... very interesting piano riff... i'd describe it as a 'anging riff... it's the main part of the song... the part that gives the tune it's identity.... everything else stops... the vocals.. the percusion... and yer get this most interesting 'anging bit of piano from The John... most nice!!!!!!
A don't like the tune enough ter go out & buy it (ok i'd be proud of it if it was my tune & I could do anything remotely as good as this).... but it is an interesting tune... most nice!!!!!

    Bye!

PPS Am working on a really interesting riff ave discovered on me electric guitar at present!!!!!
That's when work isn't stopping me!!!!
Me riff am running it through me effects board, added a capo and it sounds very 'appy Monday's... the feeling of the riff!!!!!!
Might bsng it on FB one of these days... or years!!!!!

    Bye yet again!!!!!!

PPPPS Forgot ter say.... Actually a ave forgotten this bit!!!!!!!

    Bye!

  • Comment number 93.

PS 'ere is a clip of the clip of the Elton tune a was on about with the 'anging piano riff.... it 'angs >>>

Nice tinkling of the ivories >>>>

  • Comment number 94.

PPPPPPS Ave just remembered the bit a forgot:

Also on tv tonight aswell as The One 'our One Show on one... With The John & CLP... There's Fifth Gear on Ch5 with one of my favourite new cars!!!!!

The new Vauxhall Insignia 'as struck me, a don't mean ave beenr un over by one, a mean it's looks 'ave struck me as being a very attractive car!!!!!!!
It's a shame Vauxhall are not running the Insignias as their British Touring Car entries as what a beautiful racing car one would look!!!!!!
The Insignia really is a beautifully shaped bodyshell!!!!!!!!
A think Vauxhall ave tried 'ard after all the fun they 'ad made of the Vector, especially off The Clarkson, that they've come out with a fine design!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any way what a was trying ter say... Fifth Gear 'ave got the new Insignia VXR sports model on tonight.... A car i'd like ter own!!!!!!!!

AND... if that's not enough.... the Eddie Stobart programme on again... All this with a mega Jools 'olland & The Electric Proms on all weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 95.

There was something else a wanted ter say but ave fogotten that too!!!!!!!!!!!!!
