It Doesn't Get Any Better - And If It Does I Don't Want It

Chris Evans | 10:40 UK time, Monday, 25 October 2010

Am sitting outside my publishers in my nice cosy, warm car, listening to Elton John's new album. It's a ovely piece of work - alongside his mentor Leon Russell - who sounds like a perfectly mixed blend of Willie Nelson and Neil Young.

I'm gonna go in and sign a thousand copies of that thing - you know what I'm talking about. Radio show was before all this - the best job I've ever had - fancy getting to chat to Mr Buble!

Home lunchtime to 'er indoors and the little one, and I've just received a text from my daughter who's coming down for the weekend.

Plus, my mum's tests came back all clear and the sun is shining amidst a California blue sky.

Have a great great day.

    Hello CLP & Everyone.

A bright sunny day but cold here on the Wirral peninsula.

Good luck with the signing Chris, do you get writer's cramp doing 1000 signatures?

You are lucky, I'd love to chat to Michael Buble but I just haven't met him yet.

Enjoy your lunch with Tash and Noah. I'm deciding what to put in my sarnie to go with my soup.

PS So glad that your Mum's got the all clear.

Hi Chris: great to hear all is well in your world. Wonderful news about your mum. Loved the wee section where the show was dedicated to anyone who is 35. What are the chances of us 53 year-olds getting their section?!

    P.S. Hi everyone else!

    'Lo!

Chris, you are so very obviously in the most amazing of places at the mo. Your radiance on SFTW was tangible thru the tellybox, and good for you .... and long may it continue!

Now, I went into work this morning but am now back home on t'sofa with a wheat bag on me bum. The painkillers have made me feel doolally but then, what's new!?!? Acupuncture on Wednesday will hopefully ease things off a tad but at the mo, I'm light-headed and ouchey. And very cold.

I'm hoping to feel bettererer by tonight as we're off to see Carl Barat (ex Libertines / Dirty Pretty Things) and I'm really looking forward to it.

For the next few hours tho, it's Ugly Betty, Despo Housewives and the end of Booky Wook II. May even get time to nibble some Fruitcake, if you get my drift!

    Back in a bit.

I'm bringing my copy to CiN next month in the hope to have some green ink in it!

concur with Deevs - you were very good on Paul O and SFTW - wonder how will-am-i is doing today LOL

Not working today but looking like I might be full with interviews for the rest of the week, so I am going to take myself off to the m£$ deli bar for a spot of light lunch - because I can!

    Hi everyone:

Well, I was gutted to miss the FNWC - but I am glad to see it was a great success, as I predicted!

Rips: thank you for your wee mention on Friday. And what a great idea of yours to infiltrate next door! Well done to everyone who took part in that - really hilarious!

Bids: yes, I agree, the day that Debs and I have just a glass of water will be the 12th of Never!

CSN: thank you for thinking of me at the FNWC - I was thinking of you too!

Clodagh: what a laugh about being taken for a jockey - I really did laugh out loud! A more gorgeous jockey I cannot imagine!

mtd: no way will Mary or I be questioning your wine intake!

Annie: yes, you have seen what we can neck! And welcome back - glad to hear you had a lovely holiday - though your outward journey sounds terrifying!

Oz: hope you will be happy in your new abode. You will need time to adjust to your new situation, so be good to yourself.

Debs: glad to hear you are taking things easy.

MM: I loved your comment today about Michael Buble - oooh, very slick!

Hope everyone else is ok - I just cannot get warm today - my hands are like ice!

What a busy day it has been at the coalface - almost home time, thankfully!

CSN: hope your cold is getting better as the day has progressed.

Cheryl: very painful for you, but as you say you are getting your acupuncture on Wednesday and that really should help matters. Hope you manage to go out this evening.

Annie: your wee nerves must have been shot to pieces with that journey. Did you have a small glass of wine when you arrived at your destination?! Leek & Potato soup - last week Debs was making it, and now it's your turn! I must learn how to make this soup - it is my favourite, but it won't be, with me making it!

Back home again after the long weekend trip to Weymouth via Bizzle. Bit nippy all round but had some lovely time with FiL for his 94th birthday!

Both our kids and their OHs managed to come this time along with lots of cousins etc so a good catch up - just a shame it is so far away.

Thought about you loads MTF when driving rounds those there twisty roads before you get to Dorset.

    Hiya folks!

Thanks for all the good birthday wishes and bar a horrible ex-wife a fab 40th birthday weekend was had.

Friday - GM and I went to Loch Fyne restaurant for a yummy lunch. My present from him is a weekend away to Dublin mid - November :) can't wait!

Sunday - both families came over to ours for food and party games! 17 people of all ages playing pass the parcel, musical statues, pin the tail, hupla, pass the balloon under the chin - hilarious!

Only downside was we were not allowed to have GM's children for the weekend as had been previously arranged and agreed with the witch!

Today have been to a few agencies - me thinks finding a new job will not be easy but agency did say it was a bit better out there than this time last year, so will keep my fingers and toes crossed for something to turn up before Christmas.

Hope everyone is well - not had chance to read posts today.

Night CSN, hope you're feeling better soon.

Evening all. Predicted long day at the grindstone has left me worn out, am contemplating going to bed now, although I know this is a bad idea as I'll be wide awake at 3am or some such equally silly hour and unable to do anything about it (and I refuse to do shredding / packing or anything like that at that hour of the day!). So I'm trying to stay awake for an hour or so longer.

Got a sample lease to read through today, nothing too horrid has jumped out at me, so I just need to say "lets go ahead" and set a moving date. The end of an era approaches, just hope the new one ahead is the right one.

Thought for the day (from that mysterious year I found under the bed) Thursday August 30th: "One of the keys to happiness is a bad memory"

It must be a Midlands thing - we'll have to start a club and compare notes one day! Good luck with the agencies: tediously repetitive but needs to be done.

So, we made it to Carl Barat last night and despite a shooting pain in my leg, I really enjoyed it. Not sure it was all Nic's thing - Mr Barat did a fair bit of OLD Libertines material and a bit of his Dirty Pretty Things back catalogue. Morning all

Well I've started off reasonably well, books from one (smaller) bookcase all packed up and ready to go. Now to tackle the bigger bookcase (it's coming with me, but still needs emptying)... I suspect I'm going to run out of boxes shortly!

Well done on the interview Baggy.

Hope today is less ouchie Deev.

Hope you're feeling better soon CG, it's horrid to waste hols feeling ill.

Glad you're starting on the mend CSN.

    Hugs to those in need
