Bring On The Bloggers!

Chris Evans | 11:12 UK time, Wednesday, 17 November 2010

Fab Mag 7/Lee Westwood auction this morning - off the scale.

And tomorrow, we dine and disco, with 30 tables for two. Let's see how much they go for.

And don't forget if you too want a piece of the auction action, but just can't compete with the big boys, you can ring our premium rate phone line and win a pair of tickets to what promises to be our most extraordinary Dine and Disco event EVER in July 2011. For just £1.50 you could be eating food cooked by Giorgio Locatelli, bread made by Paul Hollywood of The Great British Bake Off fame, and moshing to Paloma Faith, Paolo Nutini , James Blunt as they play LIVE for your delectation in our 'teepee of love'.

But (drum roll please !)

It's the music marathon with thirty odd of you guys - apparently - manning and womaning those phones. I can't wait, and if you have anything you want signing - skin included, make sure you bring it along.

Love you people.

CLP.

    Anything Chris? Hmmmmmmmmmm
    Cannot wait wait wait!!!!!!
But am also gearing myself up to work me butt off to get as many pledges in as possible, there are so many kids out there who need our help.
Boywonder is climbing the walls in excitement at the thoughts of Mum meeting the real life Pudsey.
Himself is climbing the wall at the thoughts of flying solo with the two childer all day and night, good luck with that love!
Just off to drop off the cake Ive made for the local taxi driver to ensure he gets out of his pit in time to get me to the station on time!
Amazing work on both auctions again this morning Chris!
Morning Deevs, how are you this morning?
Keith, hope all is well with your daughter.

  • Comment number 6.

Chris: you are just wonderful - Fact. Even though I won't be there on Friday, my book will be - thanks, Mary!

Also, Chris, can I just say I am now a total convert to the "big bids" for CiN. In the past, I did grumble about the huge amounts that could be bid by peope with the money. But, I get it now - and I realise I had the wrong end of the stick! Well done, and I hope you raise an absolute fortune tomorrow too!

    Love, Chrissie xx

Woo Hooo - Thanks CLP I'm soooo looking forward to meeting you properly (we did shake hands briefly at the O2) but silly me didn't actually say anything...... Will have my piece of half eaten (read) fruitcake at the ready (I understand you have your own green pen?)

That's it I am really excited now. Can't type fast enough to keep up.....

I don't start till 2 - will CLP still be there? (Me and my Mum had a whole conversation about who I might bump into)

Going to buy the Fruitcake at lunch - decision has been reached :D (Only have to decide where to get it from now lol)

Topic of conversation at dinner yesterday in my friends house: why was i so excited about going to answer phones - I then pointed out that it was for CIN and that it was at Radio 2 and that did it lol.

  • Comment number 10.

Well done to those of you going down to man/woman the phones on Friday. I think you are all fab and deserve a huge pat on the back.
Enjoy your breakfasts and dinners together and meeting Chris too!
I know you will all be working very hard for the privilige.
I doff my cap in respect to you all and can't wait to hear how it went and see some piccies on FB when you get the chance...

Wow how exciting, I'm getting even more excited now. Chris, please can you tell Lynn to pop by as I'd love to meet her - thanks xx

I'm going to have to buy a copy of the book at the station, otherwise it might just be the old copy I get signed.

Many congratulations on this mornings wonderful show and all that money raised xx there really are some great people out there and if they've got a spare thousand or two then more power to their elbow :)

If it's all right with my fellow bloggers I will be bringing a few leaflets for the project that I visited in Zimbabwe; they have an alternative Christmas present thing going on. No pressure, but just in case you don't know what to buy Auntie Mabel!

It's going to be great meeting old pals and new ones. I've printed off the maps and looked up the train times! One more sleep in my bed and then one more sleep in my old childhood bed which more often than not I almost fall out of! That's what comes of now sleeping in the middle of a double bed!!

    Good afternoon bloggers and schloggers!

Chris, thanks for the blog. It is great to hear your enthusiasm on the radio for such a good cause as CiN. I personally cannot wait to (hopefully) meet you on Friday (searching for something to be signed) and maybe a photo or two. ;-) I am giving my time more than willingly even though I have to work harder this week as I only have four days in the office. ;-)

I am just so excited and really looking forward to meeting so many bloggers! Only two sleeps to go! Bring it on……. LOL

Thanks for all of the support regarding my daughter. She is still in hospital (best place for her, agreed) and will be tonight as well. After that the doctors and midwifes will make a decision as to the way forward. She just wants it to all be over now as she is 38 weeks cooked. For me, well I am just as excited as an excited to be granddad can be on to be granddad day! She, like me will have to be patient I guess. Xxx

Can't wait to meet the bloggers, you and anyone else who pops by on Friday and MOST important of all, to do something for CiN. Thanks to all who've made it possible!

Morning... Soz Afternoon CLP & ALL...

    Bingo Star 'ere...

CLP - Now The Westwood Gig is one thing a would definately 'ave been bidding for if a me finances were in a financial position... postitioned financially ter allow me ter finanace a position ter allow me ter partake ter bid for The Westwood gig!!!!!!!
But sadly they are not... so a bit later am off ter ring your most nice premiumn phone line ter give a bit ter The CiN & maybe ter get lucky & getta palce on the Dine & Disco gig!!!!!!
As they say yerv gotta be in it ter win it!!!!!!!!

As for The Westwood... A ave many a time crossed paths with 'im... Once in the car park at Royal Lythm St Annes when Lee was walking back to 'is car... we sort of nearly bumped inter each other as we zig zagged through the parked cars.... And once a Wentworth a pointed out 'is ball after 'e 'ad 'it it inter the rough!!!!!!
And at Wentworth again on the range... and at 'oylake... and... yer get me drift!!!!!!
Ave been following the guy from Worksop... for many years now!!!!!!!
The bloke who Greg Norman famously said Lee Westwood 'as a somwwhat unorthadox golf swing (slight chicken wing at impact - whereas all the other top pros 'ave a VERY straight arm at impact) But look who's the World #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the Fridee gig... Am very much looking forward ter coming along ter give me time ter 'elp raise money for kids who need abitta 'elp!!!!!!

Only problem this morning after working 5 most long shifts at work today is me first day off (booked a few days annual leave) & me manic depressive father 'as done it again to me: Said a can stay at 'is place in London, then the day before am coming ter London, when it's too late to book a good 'otel at a good price... rang me ter say 'e doesn't want me to stay there!!!!!!!!
'e 'as done this over the years so, so, so many times now!!!!!!!
Only 6 weeks ago after 'e did the same... a week later when 'is mood lifts 'e phones me & apologises & says I can stay when ever I want... I can treat 'is spare room as a 'otel room... from now on it is my room to use when ever I want!!!!!!!
Again why I don't just book a 'otel in advance... I will never now why I believe 'im!!!!!!!!
I think it's because I try to keep my friendship/ relationship going with me father even though 'e is the most self-centred, selfish person you could ever meet could with 'is severe manic depression!!!!!!
All me father says is can't I cancel going to London!!!!
    CANCEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm doing this to 'elp a children's charity!!!!!!!!!!!!

So i've spent all morning when i've got so many other things to do on me day off... searching for 'otels... trying to change my travels plans to come to London!!!!!!
Trying to find a suitable 'otel the day before is very difficult & a can't afford to stay in an expensive 'otel!!!!!!!
Plus besides i'd rather give the money to CiN!!!!!!!!!! ;)

But the good news is after a lot of searching, all morning, ave found a 'otel for Thur & Fri night... reasonably close to where us blog dudes are going ter meet & the CiN gig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Family... can't choose them.... when will I ever learn ter trust me father!!!!!!

Soz ter bring the blog down with me family problem... but at least it's all sorted now & a can get on with looking forward ter 'elping at The CiN Music Marathon!!!!!!!!!!

Ave even been practising saying words with 'ayches' included......

    Honestly a have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Bye!

What a brilliant show this morning - I was driving to Stevenage so was able to hear the whole thing for a change - whoop!

So much enthusiasm and I just wish I had that sort of money to join in.... there will be several £1.50's out of CG's purse though!!

I'm sooo envious of those of you meeting up on Friday, have a fantastic time, and raise loads of dosh for Pudsey!

  • Comment number 25.

    Cheers Chris,

Loved hearing Noah - Live on air this morning.....he sounds too cute!

Another herculean effort this morning, which left me feeling quite gutted that I cannot get near the sums required to secure a place on the Mag 7. It also left me feeling in awe of these hard working bidders who choose to pay a massive premium to a charity - in order to secure a rare and valuable prize.
The final feeling I was left with was pure jealousy as Max continued to vent his not inconsiderable excitement about your GTO....or 'The GTO' as it should probably be.
The fact that you will let relative strangers drive this piece of history, says so much about the type of guy you are. Let alone the amount of personal favours you must be calling in from Luca and his team - Just incredible!

I know you don't pay much attention to it - but your detractors really ought to look further than the end of their noses when they lay in to you.

I guess that's why - as Seza said - those who predicted the end of Breakfast's involvement in CiN are very quiet at the moment......

Good on you and all the team behind it Chris.

Keith - if it helps at all - The CMM suffered from preeclampsia with our first, and with the exception of about 14 hours of labour, ending in an arrival through the sun roof, everything went very calmly....Well, I say calmly - not sure the CMM would, but you know what I mean.
All the best to you all mate.

Hannah - I have no idea what Chris' movements are (despite years of stalking), but if you would like me to purchase a book and get it signed in the morning (if that's when we see him) to be sure you don't miss out. Let me know. I guess he may be around in the afternoon - but just in case!

Look forward to seeing you all on Friday

    Afteeeeeernnnnooon aaaalll.

What a great amount of money the guys are bringing in for CIN. Totally amazing to hear those sorts of figures. And to be able to be in the Fab 7 drive and dine, that would be a dream come true, especially with the chance to drive Mr E's new GTO.

But, unfortunately, after much consultation with the wife and the on-line bank manager and my little boys spare change pot (sorry) and wondering if I still need 2 kidneys, I was still coming up a bit short, too say the leas,t and £90,000 for a round of golf with Mr Westwood. If only !!!!!

Oh well, off to Le Touquet tomorrow for a boys golf trip so will just have to pretend that big Fred, our low handicapper (who has zero similarity to Lee, hence the name BIG) will be like playing with the worlds number 1. Maybe we can get him a Lee Westwood mask.....

    Une belle journée à tous

I'm sad though that the lovely Hazel Love won't be able to make it and I thought might be nice if I take a card along with me and get anyone famous - including CLP of course - to sign it for her. Ooh, we could all sign it as well so that she knows we were thinking of her. She was so looking forward to Friday and it's a crying shame that she's not well enough to make it. What do you all think?

I never did find a Pudsey t-shirt but I'm hoping that Fairlyoddmother has managed to get us some Pudsey ears - shall we wear them on the train Fairlyodd?!!! That's one way of guaranteeing us a seat I spose, although I'm hoping the 5.40am train won't be too busy ....

I hope all our Cornish Bloggers are ok, there are some terrible flooding reports coming through. I have got to tackle the Somerset Levels this afternoon and I just know, that there are going to be one or two dodgy areas to cover.

I survived the barbers, well done to those who guessed correctly. What a wuss eh! I was out of there in a flash, they were daft enough to suggest would I like to book another appt for nearer to Christmas. Which Christmas would that be then, 2012 maybe!!!

Oh well, just off to pop wellies into the car and then I'm away.

Is anyone just the slightest bit excited about Friday???

Very best of luck Deevs, and thanks for all your hard work organising us lot.

I'm loving the auctions this week and I'm staggered at how generous people are. Chris is quite right - it's not being flash, it's people who are fortunate enough or have worked hard enough to have a few quid choosing to donate it to a brilliant cause. And that makes me very happy.

Speaking of being flash though, Debs and I are meeting at Paddington where we're going to get into a taxi and, with a toss of the hair over the shoulder, say "Broadcasting House, please driver." Well, it's not every day you can do such a thing, is it?

Can't wait to get on those phones. Bring it on.

Seza - does the blazer/sweatshirt fit you? I'm afraid I'm a bit out of touch with what constitutes schoolwear these days - in fact if the local school is anything to go by, you will get away with it by wearing anything at all.

I think what you are all doing for Children in Need is fab and the prizes you are auctioning are awesome. The money you have raised for the once in a life time events is incredible, however I could not help feeling a little sad the there are so many golf/cricket fans who would give their right arm to have the opportunity of taking part in just one of those events, unfortunately most ordinary people would never be able to donate the sums that have been offered, especialy if like my husband and thousands of other sports mad fans you are out of work. Good on the generous pecople who have offered thousands for the auction, just thought that perhaps one day you could open it up to everyone regardless of financial circumstances, perhaps by making it like a raffle where you pay a standard fee and take your chance,I know you have done that with other things, but to play wth Lee Westwood and Freddie Flintoff is a dream come true for some people.Keep up the good work and by the way what a little cutie your sons sounds.

    Hi troops:

Crazy stuff here in this office, so I won't get back on before close of play.

I just want to say that the blog has been terrific today. Mr Evans could never have imagined what a wonderful bunch of people would show up on his blog. I think Chris acknowledges this by what he has said today - it's wonderful!

Cheryl: I have seen you in action - your organisation in Liverpool was very, very impressive. Well done on everything you have done for the CiN gig.

Hope all you Broadcasting House-bound bloggers manage to sleep tonight (and tomorrow night) - I know I wouldn't!

    Have a nice evening everyone.

    C xx

P.S. Just for the record - the page IS jumping!

    Hello CLP & Everyone.

Cold, wet & windy here on the Wirral peninsula.

WOW! I can feel the excitement on the blog now as the event approaches. I won't be there but I'm nervous and excited on behalf of everyone else.
I think it's great that so many people donate to this wonderful cause, from the people watching it on the telly to the multi millionaires all of whom contribute in their own ways.

I will wonder who it is I am talking to on Friday. If I say "this is MaddyMoon and it's not a blogger it doesn't really matter as they'll just think I'm a bit odd and no harm done.

PS I won't write on here what I think about my ex husband (Bingo's dad) because I'd certainly be moderated but this little song is appropriate:

    Evening!

All this excitement is so good! I really wish I could have been there too! Would be pushing my luck with work and himself though :( I hope everyone has a fabulous time, even though you'll all be working hard!

I was all excited as I had a parcel, well largish jiffy-bag, through the door when I got home, and thought it was something good! Turned out to be a boring membership pack for the trade body I belong to, that I won't even look at :( Grumpy now!

I've already made my donation Deevs - for a handmade card, beautifully crafted by one of our very own bloggers - but I hope you make shedloads of money for CiN.

Silly me, eh? How can I not remember London and the rivers of alcohol!

PS: Marj, glad today went well.

    Hiya

Really excited but also a tad nervous about the task in hand on Friday.

CLP pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeese hang around until after 2.00pm as some of us can't get there until then. I really need to get the second book signed and have a hug as I did when you signed the first book.

Only managed to catch about half an hour of the show but the excitement was electric and the playlist wonderful. Just wish I could listen to all of the show.

Really looking forward to the hugs and drinkies afterwards too - see you Friday peeps!!

Susan, are you taking the camera? Hopefully loads of photies will be on FB by Saturday. Hope you all have a great time and the rest of us poor souls will be thinking of you all.

Right, am off to run a bath and try to get rid of this own-brand blister plaster, it's rubbish. Have had the blister since the songbus and, no, I don't know how I got a blister sitting on a bloomin' bus.

    Back later.
