We've Been Barlowed!

Chris Evans | 09:56 UK time, Wednesday, 19 January 2011

Gary Barlow - or Zen Master as I will now think of him. I've met GB many times before but never really "chatted" to him before today.

What a straight down the line, down to earth guy he is. There's no side to him at all, or at least it seems that way. He's just great - plain and simple. Happily married, fit as a fiddle, exceptionally talented and comfortable in his own skin.

Just popping off to try and be like him - I'll see you in about a hundred years !

    Good Morning CLP & Everyone.

A nice sunny day here in Wirral.

Chris-I've always thought of Gary as being the responsible down to earth one (Capricorn-Earth sign) and Robbie Williams the crazy but more exciting up in the air one (Aquarius-air sign).

But you Chris have the best of both worlds possessing both qualities and you always Light My Fire (Aries-fire sign).

Chris, thanks for playing Go Now by The Moody Blues this morning (or should I be thanking Moira or Hells Bells Exec Prod?)

It took me right back to my childhood and my parents' pub - dad used to play Go Now as the last track of the night when he did his disco (Daddy Doubledecks!?!?) and I could almost hear him this morning "singing" along from the great Oublic Bar in the sky, as he turfed the punters out into the cold night air.

I wrote a piece for my writing class based around the soundtrack of my life and it's inspired me to get my finger out and set up my own blog as an outlet for my writing. No point in writing if it just lives in a folder in the wardrobe!

  • Comment number 37.

Well I've done everything possible to solve my computer problem of my credit balance going down until I have none left even when computer is switched off but still it's happening.

I've had a computer expert check out my computer and all's well there.
Last night when yet again my credit had gone I phoned My3 and explained the problem many times to many different people and finally they believed me and reimbursed some of my credit. But it's still happening.

So it seems that someone has hacked into my account and is stealing my credit. The reason I bought this computer and started blogging and chatting on facebook is because I took ill and can't get out very much.

So you scumbag whoever you are I hope you've enjoyed stealing my credit but don't forget about karma.

Many thanks to the lovely people I've found here and of course to Chris for this lovely blog, I'm going to miss you all but as soon as this latest top up has been stolen I have no choice but to switch off.

  • Comment number 40.

    Maddy,

do you connect your computer to a wireless network at home.

If you do, you need to check that no one in the area is accessing your network connection and taking all up your credit.

    Nick.

  • Comment number 41.

    Hello Nick.

No, no wireless connection. I'm simply plugged in and using a dongle.

    MM xxx

  • Comment number 42.

I would speak to your ISP and explain the situation for them to investigate. Surely, its their responsibility to ensure you are getting what you pay for.

You should ask them to check what IP address is using the credit as whoever it is will have a different IP address to yours and they can then go from there.

    hope this helps.

    Nick.

  • Comment number 43.

    Thank you Nick.

Just me, sticking me beak in as usual...

Maddy - this might be a stupid question (forgive me if it is) but do you switch your machine off at night, or do you leave it connected? Also do you have stuff like Automatic Updates to Windows switched on? It might be that you're only using the blog and FB, but if you've got `background' stuff running in the background, that might be using up some of your credit too.

Right. I am now home and calm. But ......

I had another job rejectiomn just after 4.30 which made me so very angry. I wanted to post and tell you all from work but was afraid I'd just break down at my desk. Remember that intervew last week for the demanding chap? His PA interviewed me, as she's due to go off and breed.

Anyhoo, the morning after the interview, the feedback from the agency was glowing, the only blip being concerns about my availability after hours for Mr Demanding. Today I get a call from the agency to say she is not going to proceed with my application as she has concerns about my relationship status! Now, during the interview she assumed that my husband had relocated to this area, hence my being here too, so the conversation naturally took on a "personal" path and I was very honest about my new status, the last 12 months, transitions etc etc.

To be rejected on the basis that I have left my husband for someone else and set up home in a new area is nothing whatsoever to do with a prospective employer, yet all I did was answer the questions put to me and converse with the interviewer during the interview (which lasted 90 minutes!!)

I have never been so angry or hurt after a job rejection in my life. I am now on the verge of completely giving up - it's just getting me down so very much.

Sorry to go on, but you lot are a fab support.

    Deevs
    x

ps: Lin - thank you. Marlon is a very lucky monkey! xx

  • Comment number 53.

Deev - whatever your reasons for moving to the area, being judged on them is wrong and possibly illegal - it has nothing to do with your ability to work!

  • Comment number 54.

    Hello.

Just returned after catching up on stuff that's been neglected because of computer problems.

Uncle_Carl-I do switch off at night (at the mains) and during the day I shut down and remove the dongle when not in use. But I'm checking my account balance before shutting down and then again upon returning. And the balance is going down when shut down.

The computer expert thought it was failed updates causing the problem (which I had) but he removed all these and updates are now successful.

Going to phone ISP again soon and explain again (when I feel strong enough to be passed around to many different people, put on hold and listen to the music)

Thanks for help here, I will get sorted in the end.

    MM xxx

  • Comment number 55.

    Deevs.

Just read your post. Your personal life whatever it is (and there's absolutely nothing wrong with yours) has got nothing at all to do with them. All that concerns is work related matters, what on earth is happening to the workplace in this country?

Don't let these types of people upset you Deevs and be thankful for the good things in your life. And be thankful that you are a much better person than these jumped up types who build up their own egos at other people's expense.

    Tiggs xxx

  • Comment number 57.

    Thanks Baggy and Maddy

I still think that the PA going off on leave felt somehow threatened by me. I keep asking myself that if Mr Demanding is so, so demanding how on earth is she going to cope when she returns from maternity leave? Maybe someone older than her, with more experience, and no ties in terms of little ones at home was a threat too much?

Anyway, I'm trawling the job boards now and have applied for a couple more PA roles.

And I wouldn't change my life for anyone or anything. I have a wonderful man and have never felt so loved in my entire life.

Just someone, somewhere ... plase cut us both a bit of slack in the job market! We're not "that" evil, really ....!

Hope you get your IT problems sorted soon Maddy, all this modern technology we have now is great when it works

Deevs I agree with Baggy and Maddy. Your personal life has nothing to do with your ability to do a job and I think the PA was just looking for an excuse not to proceed with your application. If I were you I wouldn't want to work somewhere that turns down applicants on that basis!

    Thank you Bids.

I think I know what the word is, I have a few words of my own which would be moderated here for certain.

I phoned both the computer expert and ISP again tonight, both very helpful but the more I speak to people the more conflicting advice I get. I know they can do that sitting outside thing and connecting to phones and the same applies to computers I'm told but I think that's with a wireless connection.

One person says I can get a new number and dongle, the other says no, something in the computer is causing it.

I think when this top up is gone I may switch off and have a break anyway while I'm still sane and recharge my own batteries before taking it up again.

I'll certainly ask Bingo to have a look at it when he's here, he knows more than me.

    Hello everyone,

Just dropping in to offer hugs to CG at this difficult time. I sat with my mum the night before she died 4 years ago and she was very peaceful, but never really new we were there. My thoughts are with you.

Huge congratulations to you Debs on a corker of a job. Well done lady, you deserve it. Round yours to celebrate then is it?

Deevs, keep plugging away, it's their loss.(and tell Marlon to behave himself, that's not what it was meant for)!

Belated congrats to Chrissie and hubby, mine will be 36 later this year. 'Yikes' to use one of MTF's expressions!

Didn't hear much of the show this morning, but love GB and glad to hear him say Take That will stay as a 4 piece band.

    Stay well all

    Ta ta Lin x

I had a look at the forecast, I think it's just nightime frost now, no more snow thank goodness.

Hope you are feeling well now and recovering.

    Just a quick pop by...

How nice to see you Lin, we must indeed have a get together to help Debs celebrate !!

I wanted to say CG, please keep talking to your Mum. There is a good chance, that she is able to hear you. When we spent the last day with Mum, we had no response and as I was leaving to get home to my littluns, I said to Mum, 'I'll see you tomorrow Mum' to which she replied.. 'Ok Sallie'

Everyones situation is different I know, but my advice (without meaning to be intrusive) is to keep on talking to her. Lots of love to you and your family right now.xx

Marj, I will send you my mobile phone number, if you dont already have it?

I hope it gets sorted for you asap. It seems so unfair that you are being cheated out of what you are entitled to.

I would like to keep in touch.

    Thank you MTF.

I will get it sorted, I'm not one for giving up but it is getting a bit much. Now the failed updates has started again too.

But as I say, I won't give up just have a break maybe.

PS I had a thought that if I saw someone sitting outside in the car park using a computer I might go out to challenge them and they could be totally innocent. It would be just like it for something like that to happen to me LOL

Ahh, sorry Marj, i havent had time to read all of todays posts properly.

I saw a sign of determination there that reminded me of myself.

I have been through a lot recently, of little things chipping away at me and am not going to let it get me down.

I have a new theory in life and will be posting it tomorrow.

I just have to get it 'word perfect!'

Looking forward to your new theory MTF.

I try not to let things get me down but seem to get caught up in all the madness.

Life is very short really and should not be spent getting in a state about things that don't really matter.

Anyway it's time I was going to bed to get in a state about whether or not I'll sleep ha ha!

    Goodnight MTF

Loving the idea of an all firls blogging team, deev I will take time of work for that if you can provide a bed for the night ;-)

I didnt get a job because I am too nice (have they met me) and another one becuase of my personality (or lack of one), I think employers are a lot more picky now.

    Good morning ALL,
On rising this morning I see that the garden has had another white make over ,looks quite pretty, and maybe it's because I'm viewing it from indoors.

The sun is up and it looks like it's going to be a sunny one ,just wat I ordered .

Have a nice day all and take care out there and stay safe.

    Morning all!

Coffee morning over for another week. Always makes me laugh when they all bring something for the raffle like a packet of biscuits or bottle of handsoap. I'm sure they all take the same things home half the time!

Sun is trying its hardest to shine here today - hope it is for you too

CG, (((xxx))) Still thinking of you
