Hello You Fools I Love You

Chris Evans | 15:53 UK time, Monday, 25 July 2011

Oh my goodness me, do you have any idea how truly wonderful it was to be back at work today? For sure, my job is far less like work than most peoples', but nevertheless let me assure you how much I have missed it over the last fortnight. More than ever before.

And why particularly now? I can only presume it's because it's the most enjoyable it's ever been.

There's always so much going on, so much to talk about, so much energy, so many personalities and so many opinions. I am lapping it up, I woke up this morning before the alarm I was so excited.

And how about Vassos our new sports guy. The nicest man in sport and showbusiness, Jonny, has been replaced by . . . the nicest man in sport and showbusiness. Vassos is so supercool we are going to have to check his DNA for traces of cucumber.

Here's to tomorrow and the next day and the next day and. . . you get the gist.

See you on the radio

    Hi Chris:

Well, let me assure you, it is wonderful to have you back! Chris, it is so obvious how much you love your job - the show just keeps getting better - I don't know how that's possible, but it's true. And, yes, I did like Vassos this morning - missed my lovely Jonny of course, but I will get used to Vassos!

    Hello CE & Everyone.

    Welcome back Chris!

It must be wonderful to have a job that you enjoy so much and so exciting to meet so many stars but you yourself Chris are the biggest star of the breakfast show. You make it what it is.

We are missing Jonny but Vassos seems to be a good replacement.

Oh my goodness me, do you have any idea how truly wonderful it is to have you back at work, Christoff? I listened to the breakfast show just the once whilst you were off, and that was enough!

I think Vassos is a worthy replacement, although am missing Jonny, but hey ho, onwards and upwards.

Thanks for the heads up next door Tiggs.

Mr PF returned to work today after 2 weeks off and just look at the weather, blooming sweltering! Typical!!

    Hello Christoph,

Boy have I missed you. Last night it was really weird because I kept thinking I'm really looking forward to Monday morning. This morning I was awake and showered before my alarm went off and sitting in my lounge with my porridge and cup of tea ready to welcome you back. So good to have you back Chris and yes I miss our lovely Jonny but I think I could get used to Vassos ;o) xx

See you the same time tomorrow ;o)

Oh hooraaaayyyyy you are back, I have a confession to make I am so use to not having the radio on in the morning because of you being on holiday and cant get on with the replacement I forgot to put you on this morning. Remembered when I got in the car. It just started my day off correctly to hear you being jovial this morning.

Anyway hope everyone had a good weekend, twas a strange one this weekend with things going on in the world. Harvesting has commenced on the allotment and we have a bounty of potato's, courgettes and toms. Leg and back muscles have done a good work out too.

  • Comment number 21.

    Hi all

wpfeww (is that how it is spelt?) welcome back Chris, we enjoy you being on the radio as well. I agree with Deevs, no more holidays (or at least if you have to go away, pleeeeease can you leave your replacement a set of instructions about how to do a breakfast show - including Rule number 1. 'You must play the Candyman on Friday morning at 8.05!!!!')

Sorry we were not able to share our feelings over this strange weekend - another thing for you to take note of Chris, the blog must not shut down when you are away - couldn't somebody guest blog? and I don't mean your replacement either (his tweets are plenty enough to read......)

Anybody else got some rules for CE holidays?

Mary, glad it wasn't just me! I was off today and still switched my alarm on just to listen

Welcome Vassos! Good to hear you settling in. Look forward to meeting you

Oh, I feel guilty. Neighbour, who is about the same age as me, asked me if she could put her rubbish in my bin as she finds her bin too heavy to move. She and her son have been filling my bin up when I'm not around so I've just put a note on mine to say please don't put any more rubbish bags in here as I won't be able to move it. Honestly, why do people take the p? I didn't mind the odd rubbish bag but I'm getting annoyed now.

    Morning All,

    Chris, welcome back, Sir.
Whilst I don't mind Richard Madeley in the morning, he's no substitute for the energy you chuck out of the speakers.
    Great to have you back!

Haven't been around for a while, but do catch up when I can.
I wanted to leave a message on here for Johnny, but didn't get round to it.
Suffice to say - I'll miss him and hope that he goes on to enjoy his vocation.
The last show you did with him was superb, and the gifts you gave him were truly thoughtful.

    Morning All,

Welcome back, indeed, Chris, you have been missed and a BIG welcome to Vassos, he sounds like a keeper :)

I've not been around as it's been a mad couple of weeks. I went to stay with my Mum last week as my Dad was away and then this last weekend I went to Dorset to stay with friends. I am in week two of no hot water, hopefully they are coming next week to fit the new boiler. It's all a bit stressful. The new people have moved into my office, which has meant the office has shrunk in size and it's all a bit cluttered now, but my OCD will just have to get over it...lol.

I hope all is well with you and yours, if not have a hug {{{}}} xx

    Hi everyone:

Oooh, it's lovely to have the blog back!

Not a lot to report from me, but just wanted to say hello. "Hello"!

Annie: re: your bin - no way should you feel guilty. Your neighbour is indeed taking the p, especially if her son lives with her - what are they playing at?! Well done for leaving that wee note.

JG: shame about the job, but just hang in there, something else will turn up.

Busy day ahead for me, but no doubt I will find time to look out the window at the gorgeous weather we have today - I wish I was at home catching up with the laundry!

    Hope everyone is ok.

    Hi Chris,

welcome back to the airwaves! I can honestly say I missed you too...... Vassos sound like he is settling in very well, of course he will never be a JS but I am sure given time he will make his own mark on the show.

I have been so busy recently that my feet do not seem to touch the ground! I have been fund raising for help for Heroes which has gone very well. Our golf match last Friday raised over £14,000! I have managed to attend the Queens Royal garden party at Buck house. I was delighted to be invited and the day did not disappoint at all, her majesty certainly knows how to throw a bash!

Back to the bump and grind of work now with my main focus on me getting some of my holiday in before the sun goes behind a cloud for the summer.

    Keep smiling

Any road up, what was I sayin'; OH YES; Welcome back Christoff!!!

As happy as I am, it's as nothing compared to the unbridled delight of the GD, who, as she hurtles up the M58 to the Day-Job, has asked me to convey to you that if you go away once more and leave 'er to the mercy of Rich Madeley (bless 'im), she will personally forward to you the bill for her therapy.

Me, I've bin' in Dublin listenin' to Rte 2FM, of the excellent Ryan Tubridy fame; and if anybody thought Ryan was rattlin' on a bit as 'e stood in for Graham Norton, you should cop for 'is stand-in on the morning show, Dave Fanning. That man has the fastest speakin' voice since Peter O'Sullivan 'ad a double espresso before the Grand National. I swear. When them two pop their clogs, they'll 'ave to beat their clacks to death wit a stick.

So before I embark on Renee's pile a Things That 'Ave Fell Off, Things That Need A New Fuse and Things That 'Ave Got Stuck Behind The U-Bend... Talk about Welcome Home; I've seen 'appier faces on summat you see climbin' outa rock pool. Bless.

Anyway, as I sat in line waitin' to embark HMS Mayhem at Dublin Port, imagine my delight upon hearing the daily quiz on 2FM.

Vassos not only has a wonderful voice, he's a cutie as well. Glad you posted a picture of him ;-)
