Chris, It's a bit drizzly in Kent, take a brolly.

I spent many a happy summer at Canterbury Cricket Ground when I was a girl; we used to, as a family, go and watch Kent play at Canterbury. When the chaps went in for lunch or tea, me, my Dad and Brother used to play French Cricket on the pitch. I also got some autographs - Dicky Bird and Alan Knott to name but two. The last time I went to the Cricket Ground was to a wedding some years back.

Today I have work, later I am going to the cinema with my best bud the JellyBean - she needs some love today - her per rat Rosie died yesterday. Apparently she was an old lady rat and it was her time to go but I still think the JellyBean is super gutted.

Long time no see peeps ... the new academic year has started with avengeance and it's been crazy, crazy here at work. I'm also starting the next phase of my own part-time degree on Monday and today I've got an introductory lecture for three hours! I'm extremely nervous as I'm so much older than the other students ... they'll probably think I'm the tutor! I haven't studied for over 30 years so wish me luck!

A very windy day here on the Wirral peninsula.

Enjoy the cricket Chris. Birkenhead Park is the place to play cricket around here (opened in 1847 and is the first publicly funded park in the country) My uncle used to play there before he emigrated to the US of A.

I used to enjoy a game of cricket myself as a child and even though I say so myself I was very good at catching the ball.

I don't suppose Freddie would come and captain a game at Birkenhead!

I will have some of that tea & cake thank you!

Just a question, probably for the ladies here but could be anyone! Has anyone had a "makeover" at one of the make-up counters in the big stores, did you enjoy it and where did you go?

Was very tempted while I was waiting for my train but chickened out!

Hope the cricket went OK Chris.

Sezza - I had a makeover at the L*nc*me counter in D*b*nh**sa couple of weeks ago, it was quite nice but I've had better (most of the counters in the stores do them - the best I've had was probably the B*n*f*t one). I had just had my hair done and my hairdresser wanted to see the results - she said it looked good. It was a shame that I wasn't going out that evening. Mind you the last one was the first where I didn't feel pressurised to buy at least one of the products used (probably because they knew I'd bought quite bit a couple of weeks earlier). If you do go for it, a tip would be not to do a full make up before you go (apparently some people do!!!). Personally, I like them, especially as I don't really have a clue when it comes to using make up and tend to go without most of the time.

Seeing Bingo above reminds me that I forgot to congratulate you on your engagement. Now we know what the wedding outfit is for eh MM???

Sezza, I had a makeover, long time ago, at Jenners in Edinburgh (the poshest shop before Harvey Nicks came on the scene). The salesgirls were really snooty and made me feel like a chookter but they managed to sell me very expensive products. Didn't do that again!

I bet the Cricketers had a brilliant day today - what fab memories for the kids! Hope all went well.

I had a Cl*n*que makeover in a large branch of 'Shoes' once. Nice lady, but managed to stay strong and buy only stuff I was actually going to use (obviously that was back in my solvent days, hehe!). Also, when I was going to be a bridesmaid for my sister in law, I went and had a "consultancy" in another department store and took with me a swatch of the fabric my dress would be in. that was quite helpful for helping the lady to get ranges of colours, etc. On the whole though, I don't really wear that much make-up. Just a reliable mascara and lipstick, bit of powder - and maybe some subtle eye-liner if any eligible gents are likely to come into radar range...!

Jasper-dog has not allowed me anywhere near HIM with make-up since an unfortunate incident with a medieval cross and a Dragonboat race earlier this year...

I've never had a makeover in my life, prefer to do my own.

What on earth are all these mascara adverts on about, what is that silly LA voice talking about telling us to millionise our lashes? And each new mascara ad is suggesting that the previous one was rubbish. And then there's the shape of the brush (or comb) which they keep on changing.

It's all a rip off as there's such a small amount in the tubes compared to the oldfashioned block mascara!

Maddy - The only thing that can make eyelashes more numerous (millionise?!? Is that even a word?!) is sticking on a pair of falsies! All designed to bleed money out of the credulous. Alas, that sometimes includes me - I've got loads of mascaras - and I only EVER resort to using the same two (and one of THOSE was a free sample)!

Tammy was right - sometimes it IS hard to be a woman... ;-)

Here we go my bullet points I promised.....

:- Got a job as a consultant delivering Key Skills/NVQ’s in Management, Business Administration and Customer service. Only probably 3 days a month.

:- Started my own Limited company to run the consultancy through, my first ever company!

:- Been away on holiday in our motorhome for a week and a half.

:- Bought my first ever brand new motorhome! Collect it on 4 Oct, very excited!

:- Finally after two and a half years I managed to get my daughter to attend some counselling! This is a very BIG step forward.

Good morning everyone,

It's trying to be sunny here in Ayrshire, quite blowy though.

We don't watch adverts at all, we S**+ everything so that we can skip through them, last night we watched Inside Nature's Giants, it was about thoroughbred racehorses which was absolutely fascinating (if a little gruesome).

Off work tomorrow, we are going away for 3 nights in the caravan, which I am really looking forward to, I am so envious of you Keith, we would absolutely love a motorhome but we are also happy with our little caravan, it gives us so much more freedom, especially having the 2 dogs and at £40 for the 3 nights including electric hook up, it's a cheap way to holiday for us.

Make over debate, had a make over years ago and got roped in to buy what I didn't want. But I've had a few facials which I do like ,normally get a shoulder and arm massage thrown in as well ,now that's nice.

Gail, we caravaned for many years and loved it, we even traded my last caravan for our first motorhome. From little acorns I have moved onto my dream turnip! It is a lot of money and could only be justified if you actually use it. So many are parked up on driveways. :-( As for cheap we just paid £7.50 a night with electric on the coast, perfect. ;-) xx

Enjoyed all the chat about make-overs. I never have had one, no offense intended to any "beauty consultants" lurking, but they just make me feel so uneasy ... teuchter describes it perfectly, Annie! One day, a couple of years ago, I was collared by some dame selling nail products, nail files, that sort of thing, and I spent £25 on them! I genuinely felt ill when I realised what I had allowed myself to be talked into!

Morning all hope you are all well.

NSBU we have a caravan and unfortunately it has sat in storage this year and not been out, we have been too busy to get out in it but I know what you mean you do need to use them, it is a great freedom to just hitch up and get off. Its sounds like everything is going well for you and I hope you have many happy hours touring around in your new motorhome.

As for make up, havent been to a counter but generally if I decide to invest in something expensive it is normally Cl####s. I buy mine from the internet it is alot cheaper then off the counter and cant help but think if I went for a make over I might come out looking more like aunt sally then seductive and sultry.

Sun shining at the mo in Shropshire and this week is going very slow not like the last two I had in the sun - funny that.

Chrissie, David has the holiday Friday and Monday as he works for the Council Roads Dept., but we don't get any public holidays, we have to save them all up for our fortnight shutdown at Christmas and New Year (which is great), so I have put in for holidays for tomorrow and Monday, which still leaves me with 6 days to use before the end of the year - YAY!
