To the tune of Hallelujah!

Chris Evans | 15:41 UK time, Friday, 9 September 2011

Ga-ry Barlow ! Ga-ry Barlow ! Gary Barlow ! Gary Barlow ! Ga-ree Bar-low !

What a superstar. G Barlow in for the poorly L Richie at a moment's notice, for Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park this Sunday.

It was always going to be fun, but now it's going to be off the scale. Don't know how to thank Mr B, so any ideas are welcome. Please advise.

Come on England (and the other ones). In the rugby.

Be safe, see you on the telly tonight 7 o'clock ´óÏó´«Ã½1, with Roger Moore on The One Show; and back on the radio early Monday after a late night Sunday.

Oops, nearly forgot - will be on the radio before that live from the gig!

Rock on and peace and love.

    Afternoon all

Christoff, I am very much looking forward to Sunday and Mr Sezza, star that he is, got me to book Monday off work so I shall be listening from the comfort of my comfy bed!

Am looking forward to 7pm tonight to see if you have got that 'tache off your face!

Pen, I'm not sure I ever had the plot!!

    Is it FNWC yet?

    Hello CE & Everyone.

First of all: 'Get well soon Lionel'. Has he been eating too many crisps? LOL!

Good for Gary, he is a busy boy lately, as busy as yourself Chris. You could thank him by inviting him and his lovely wife round to your abode for a posh meal or maybe at your posh restaurant.

I can't be at Hyde Park (I'm not jealous Huh!) but I will be listening. I really hope that the weather will be kind.

Will be watching The One Show at 7.0pm. I have a tenuous link to Roger Moore. Back in the early 80's I was about to cross a road near to the Thames in Chiswick when a car stopped and a smiling gentleman waved me and my companion across. I smiled and waved back and then realised who it was. I said to my companion 'I'm sure that was Roger Moore'. He said 'YES, it was!'

    Hi Bids.

Just read your post on previous page (and after you doing such a long one, isn't that typical?)

Yes the chippies were delicious and I had some left for lunch today. I always wonder can anybody eat a whole portion of chips as they always give so many.

The salad tonight was a bit of a let down LOL although it was quite refreshing on a muggy day.

    Evening all,

Chris yes Mr Barlow really is a superstar.

Daisy Happy Birthday - hope you're having a lovely day. I know your gorgeous boys will spoil you tonight.

Seeza - so sorry I missed your birthday, I hope you had a nice day. I know for sure you will have a fantastic time on Sunday xx

    You too Propcar enjoy Sunday.

I've had my flat decorated this week and last week I had horrible flu and sickness bug that was going around so haven't caught on here or Facebook. Hope you are all well.

I will be spending the weekend getting the flat ship shape.

Take care all and have a great weekend.

Mary, boo to feeling poorly! There's a lot of "it" around at the moment, hope you feel better soon and you enjoy sorting your flat

Maddy, we'll wave to you on Sunday on the radio!! ;-) Salad can be good but chips do it everytime - especially the battered chips I had on holiday!!

    Mouth's watering now!

Was glad to see Chris was moustache-less tonight!

Back on the taxi run tonight so a dry FNWC for me!

    Hi everyone:

I would leave a wee message for Chris, but I think he may be too busy to have a look at the blog today! Suffice to say, Gary Barlow is just such a star - I love that man, and I am so happy that his career is in orbit, compared to just a few years ago when the music business treated him so badly.

Well, it's a bemused Chrissie-S here. I have spent the whole week looking forward to Saturday, when I could have a lie-in and not have to be up at 6.30am. Guess who was up at 6.30am today?!

Bids: read your post on the previous blog. I agree completely about gambling - I just cannot do it. MrS and I had an overnight in Las Vegas years ago and of course we went to the hotel casino to see what it was all about. We agreed we would "blow" 50 dollars and that would be it. First coin MrS put in the slot, we won 60 dollars! I said: right, that's it, we're finished. I just thought, we'll lose that in the next five seconds, and I just couldn't face it! Now, if we are talking about the amount of money I spend on wine ... let's not go there!

Mary: lovely to see you on the blog. I know what a terrible time you have had this week, but it's great your flat has been decorated and I know that when you say you will get the flat "ship shape", it is going to be gorgeous.

Busy day ahead - major unpacking today, which is fine because it's such a grey and dreich day, I am happy to go nowhere.

To everyone heading to Hyde Park tomorrow, even if the weather is lousy, have a fantastic time. I will be listening, possibly with a glass of something in my hand ... funny that!

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Morning Chrissie, Morning all, Morning CLP!

Good luck with your unpacking and ship-shaping you two wee scotish lasses

Sezza, I am now OFFICIALLY very very jealous - of the spitting wasp type that Clodagh suffers from now and again

GARY BARLOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! stamps feet and purses lips and says in a Veruca Salt type voice "I WANT TO BE AT THAT CONCERT!!!" Oh you will have a brilliant time, I like Chrissie will defo be listening along :-)

Maddy - how do you heat up your left over chips? I agree one potion is just too many

Right car-less at the moment, am hopefully awaiting delivery of a hire car but have had no confirmation so it could be a house bound weekend for me. No bother have a roll of black bin bags and a lot of declutering to do.

    Happy Saturday/weekend everyone

    Morning everyone,

Seeza, I am feeling much better now thank you.

Thanks Chrissie – I am the same as you up with the lark this morning. Kitchen is now in order and the windows have been cleaned so it’s just the lounge to do this morning. Like you I am very happy to stay indoors today it’s really horrible out there. Thanks again for your support this week and keeping me calm. Don’t know what I would do without you my lovely friend xx Hope you and MrS getting all your unpacking done.

I agree about gambling I couldn’t do it either – love the Las Vegas story Chrissie.

All those going to Hyde Park – have a brilliant time I would recommend investing in a poncho. I will be listening too with a little refreshment or two.

Take care folks and have a great weekend.

    Morning Chrissie, debs and everyone.

    Wet and windy here.

    Chris, I love Gary Barlow.

I will be very busy in the next few weeks, roof needs some repair and some of the windows need replacing, so I have had a lot of nice young men at the house this week giving me estimates.

Biggest nightmare of all is Mr CSN has decided to do some decorating!

Chrissie, will be thinking of you doing all that unpacking this weekend.

Mary, glad you're feeling better and good luck with ship shaping your flat.

Sezza, have a wonderful time tomorrow.

Debs, hope your hire car arrives soon.

I went to buy Joan's book yesterday at a certain supermarket and somehow ended up in a bed shop and now have on order two single beds for more of the grandchildren to stay over. LOL!

    Good morning all,

It's so nice to see you all being busy out there ,as I'm sitting well still lying in my bed. I have decided that I'm goiing to have a go slow day today and only do what has to be done and that the supermarket shop ,and I shall cook the evening meal and thats it.
I don't need to do anything else, as all of you have worn me out already lol.

Crissie /Mary, looks like your both busy ship shaping , tongue twister there me thinks!!, anyway take care both and make sure you both reward yourselves with a wee drop of whatever the cure is tonight.
You are both reminding me of two little echo warriors busying them selves....Just make sure that you make it fun ,then it's not so much a chore.

Debs so glad that the cars arrived ,cant do without them can you ,well we could it's just that once you've got one ,it takes all the other modes of transport away .I used to walk miles before I drove ,don't even want to the end of the road now.lol.

Csn ,enjoy your day with your family ,will probably be seeing our tomorrow.

Gary Barlow ,Always thought that he was a good egg and yes as Crissie has said ,he had a raw deal a while back ,but whose smiling now .and he never moaned about it did he ,good lad Gary.

Right I think it's time for me to get out of this pit and into the shower ,before hitting the supermache, a girl knows how to live you now..Debs might see you down the wine aisle.

    Morning all

Didn't set my alarm this morning and fully expected to be awake by 7 anyway, so was pleasantly surprised when I opened my eyes and found it had gone 8 (just). Mornings must be getting darker :(

I'm having a pottering sort of morning doing various chores that have stacked up. Have ticked off putting away last weeks washing (just in time to hang up the latest load to dry!), loading the washing machine and having breakfast so far. There's a bath to clean and a vacuum to run round yet, and then I guess it might be an idea to hop in the shower before doing anything else. I have a few letters to write (for one of my voluntary roles) and then it'll be a trip to the postbox to send them on their way and get a bit of fresh air. Have been missing out on my daily walks as my carsharee has been off recently, so I haven't had the reason to walk to or from hers to stretch my legs. Must try harder, but I don't like the nights drawing in either, walking alone in the dark doesn't really appeal.

Washing machine's just finished its share of the chores, so I'd best get on.

Hugs to all in need of one

Hello? Is it me you're looking for?

Each to his own, I suppose. I'd rather listen to Gary Barlow than Lionel Ritchie. Actually, I'd rather listen to Gary Lineker than Lionel Ritchie if it came to it.

I'm tenderly nursing a hangover today following a terrific wedding yesterday. I'm finding that crisps and back to back episodes of Come Dine With Me are doing the trick.

    Eveing all,

Well ,my planned not to do much today turned out quite different .found out that there was an open day at one of the national trust houses up on the south downs ,so we both decided ,well I decided that we should go and have a wander .

The house is called Upark ,it got burnt down a few years ago and has now reopened ,and I must say they who did the renovations have done a jolly good job. fantastic veiws over the downs.
We also found out that the lord of the manor many years ago went off to London to a posh Brothelto find a young lady to take back to the house ,the madam of the brothel was known as the abbess and the young ladies of the night were known as nuns.
Well it just happened to turn out that the young lady who went back with the lord of the manor was no other than the imfamous ...Lady hamelton lord Nelsons lover.
And that i didn't know ,just goes to show ,you're never to old to learn are you .

just had a nice ribeye and a couple od glasses of red ,and now chilling ...cheers.

Concerned, there are so many people that we want to see on Sunday that we were disappointed that Lionel Richie won't be there, yes, but it's not going to spoil our day

Personally, Imelda May and Will Young are high on my list, Jools Holland is one of my favourite live acts and a certain Mr Mayo says Bellowhead are something to see!

    Hi everyone:

Good grief, another 6.30 am start to the day! I will be crying tomorrow when I have to get up at that time to go to work!

Great day yesterday - so much achieved, and it feels good. More still to do, but I can see light at the end of the tunnel!

Mary: lovely to see your flat is coming together, and I know it will have been cleaned to within an inch of its life!

CSN: just love the fact that you went out for a book, and ended up ordering beds! Your grandchildren will just love the fact that they will have their own beds at your house. xx

Debs: thank goodness the car arrived in time for the necessary purchase of some penguins!

Oz: hope you enjoyed your day of pottering around.

Barmy: glad to see you had a great time at the wedding - CDWM is just what is needed for a day of recovery!

Maddy: I didn't see the X Factor - will have to check out Kendro - they sound dreadful!

Bids: lovely to hear about your day yesterday. Isn't it wonderful that some days turn out so completely different from what we think they will be?

Kks: hope the jet lag is getting better. I have always loved my trips across "The Pond" but, oh, the jet lag is such a killer!

Sezza: will be thinking of you (and Propacar) today - it is going to be fantastic!

Well, ChezS, we have no TV - haven't had a signal all week. A bit of a dispute over the fact that we need an outside aerial, so we have to get that attended to. But, incredibly, I have not missed it all. My daughter poppped in to see us the other evening and we spent the entire time just TALKING. Had the telly been on, we would just have muttered a few words to each other. I don't think I could live forever without the TV, but it's amazing that when you don't have it, you just get on and do other things ... like having a conversation!

Hope everyone has a good Sunday - we are bracing ourselves here for the hurricane that is due tonight/all day tomorrow! I am just a little apprehensive!

    Morning all

No TV here either Chrissie, didn't see the point of bringing one with me when I rarely watched anyway. I don't miss it, might miss out on some "did you see..." type conversations, but that's all. I've plenty of other stuff to occupy myself with and a rather stuffed bookshelf!

Pottering day was good thanks, completed a fair bit of a needs doing list along the way, although I'll have to try the bottom patting store after this mornings activities as my printer stopped working yesterday and appears to be telling me (though I can't find the manual..) that it's out of black ink. Didn't have time to raid anywhere for supplies yesterday and it's the only place I can think of that might be able to help me on a Sunday. If not the rest of those letters will have to wait til next weekend.

I'm determined to get some fresh air today (missed out yesterday due to an hour long call from a friend which only ended when he ran out of credit, he's also getting the blame for me not finding the printer was out of ink earlier ;) ) however windy it gets. Hope you've battened down the hatches up north if this hurricane rumour is right.

Best go find some breakfast, the tum is growling in a "Feeed me" kinda way.

From another early bird – wide awake at 5.15. I was in the supermarket at 6.20 thank goodness for 24hr stores! Just one more trip to the rubbish dump today and then it will be home to batten down the hatches for the day/night.

Bids – I’m good thanks. Had a very productive day yesterday and managed to get everything in order. It’s great to have everything back in place after all the upheaval of the week. Even better that my OCD has calmed down again ;o)

CSN – I hope you had a lovely day with the family.

Hi Obama – hope the hangover didn’t get in the way of you having a nice evening.

Maddy – agree re X Factor it makes a mockery of what the show is really about.

KK – nice to see you. Hope your cloud plus gets sorted. I couldn’t get a wireless signal this morning and thought my modem was caput until I realised in my cleaning frenzy yesterday I had accidently switched it off!
    Hope the jetlag eases soon.

Sezza and propacar – I’m excited for both of you today have a great time.

I enjoyed the SCD launch show looking forward to it starting again.

Chrissie – you know me so well lol xx

    Afternoon all

Failed with my shopping trip this morning and came home inkless. Turned the printer on to investigate exactly what cartridge I need so a friend can see if she can track one down for me in the coming week (she works in town, unlike me) and low and behold my 2 pages that were left to print yesterday printed... I'm wondering if it'll print any more now, but think it'll be wise to get some ink anyway!

Have been good and after a windswept (but surprisingly warm none the less) walk along the river and over the fields I've finally got round to some of that sewing I've been promising myself I ought to get on with. Especially since the child it's welcoming is now about 7 weeks old... Quite pleased with the progress made in 2 hours of good concentration. Must keep it up, have to say the daylight helped too!

Bids: are you serious? Me? Sussed life? Honestly? I tend to muddle along with it and see what happens to a certain extent and the rest of it gets double booked left, right and centre. Guess it doesn't help that my friend network is scattered far and wide, so when opportunities to see them come along I tend to grab them. I do try to restrict my trips away to no more than every other weekend, but things don't always go to plan! But if you want to chat and find out more I can be found on fb chat whenever I'm online.

Mary: Guess it helps that I grew up in a household without a TV, so I'm very used to it. Like I say, I didn't watch it much even when I had access to it, so I'm not really surprised to find I don't miss it. To be honest I don't even listen to the radio much these days either, so I'm probably hopelessly out of touch with the world. Best wishes to your friends husband for the road ahead.

    Hi everyone:

Well, I expected the hurricane during the night, but apparently it's all going to kick off around 4pm today - hope we all manage to get home ok!

Debs: I didn't manage to get back on the blog yesterday, so I missed your chicken announcement - hope it was delish!

Oz: just coming back to you on the TV thingy - no wonder you achieve so much. I am now realising that I watch more TV than I thought I did!

Bids: oooh, you know how much I love a kitchen party - I would be more than happy to chat in your kitchen with a wee "compliment"!

Mary: just so, so terrible about your friend's husband. I thought of him the moment I opened my eyes this morning. What a cruel, evil disease cancer is - I hate it with all my heart. xx

Annie: lovely to see you were spoiled over the weekend. It's so nice to be looked after, isn't it? Hope everything will be ok on that bridge today.

bolyengirl: how could we forget you?! I was thinking of you on Saturday as I was stacking our DVD's and I came across "Anne of the Thousand Days" - always makes me think of you! Sorry to hear about your mum, hope she gets better soon. xx

Sezza: lovely to hear from you - the concert just sounded brilliant - must have been a fantastic day - please tell us more!

Hope everyone has a good day.

    C xx

For anyone who is still wondering if Gary Barlow was a "worthy" replacement for Lionel Ritchie

    /programmes/p00kdbbb

Would have been an awesome perfomance had the guy taken weeks to prepare but on 4 days notice - hats off to Gary!

Sezza xxx who's feeling very lazy today!

    Morning,

Sezza, Glad you had a fantastic time, I listened to the last half and hour and that sounded good xx

BG, Good to read you xx

Debs, Have fun up North, are you having a mini meet? xx

I had a lovely time at my brothers, I am glad that I made the effort. I hadn't seen some of the people for 25 years, so it was good to catch up. They had live music, some months back they were sitting outside a coffee shop in Chester listening to a busker, he was so good that they asked him for his card and then contacted him to see if he did private gigs, which he did. So they got him to come and perform at their party, he was very good and also easy on the eye ;)

Today, well this afternoon, I am going to a wedding in Whitstable, the sun is supposed to come out around 1 ish, so let's hope it does. I am rethinking my outfit every couple of minutes!

My friend is in her mid forties and went out with this chap 30 years ago, they split up and lost contact. Then earlier this year she found his address and decided to write to him, they met up realised that the spark was still there, got engaged and are now getting married all in the space of 5 months!!! Neither of them had been married in the past 30 years. What a romantic story :)

Right this is probably a long post and I really should get on with some work.

Hope our Scottish friends are not to battered by the storm xx

Chrissie, you might regret asking that!

I think yesterday is going to go down as one of My Days!

You know, those days that stick in your memory because they just go so well and have such a wonderful feeling about them - special days

Yesterday was like that. All the bits around the day - tavelling up, getting a meal and getting home all worked so well and the concert in the middle was just, well, I hate to over-use the word, but it was amazing!

    Hi Chris,

You could thank the fab Gary B by telling him he made my 14 year old daughter's (Sophie) dreams come true yesterday at Hyde Park.

Sophie must big Gary's biggest fan - the walls of her bedroom are covered in posters, she knows the lyrics to every song he has recorded and has Take That e-friends around the world.

However, she never once imagined she would be able to get so close to Gary (he actually looked at her from the stage!). His performance was amazing. She will remember this special day forever.

Thank u 2 for making it happen,

    Kate x

Sezza: so happy for you that yesterday was so special. It's wonderful when a day turns out like that - you will never forget it. xx
