Cold today and getting colder tomorrow...

Chris Evans | 13:16 UK time, Tuesday, 31 January 2012

...It's at times like this we should have a national school television channel that all the little loves can turn to, to save them having to go outdoors. I know childcare would be an issue but hey, I've come up with the first part of the plan, someone else will have to figure out the rest. Crisis equals problem, problem requires solution ergo an opportunity is suddenly upon us.

Pefect story-writing weather, I reckon. 500 Words continues. Rock on people !

Peace and Love

    Hello CE & Everyone.

Chris, what are you talking about? SNOW! Children love it, they need to go outdoors and have fun building snowmen, having snowball fights (if the PC brigade would allow such a dangerous sport) and toboggoning. To wrap the little darlings up in cotton wool and sit them in front of the TV all day is just plain wrong.

Bring on the 500 word competition (after the snow has melted)

Story-Writers, The 500 words competition sounds exciting doesn't it? If you need a question answered, you would probably be better sending it using the CONTACT button on the blue bar below Chris's picture at the top of this page. Those contacts go through directly to his team but they only pick things up from here if they happen to read this

There used to be school programmes, I would still like there to be a childrens radio station, something that uses that disappearing function in children of an imagination! TV and Playstations/XBoxs.Wii and computers, everything is visual and education has been dumbed down. I would like to see David Attenborough shown at 7.30 and other educational programmes and Eastenders and other soaps put on after the watershed. They are not childrens programmes but they are shown when children are up and there is not much choice despite the plethora of channels!

I rarely turn my TV on anymore, can't be doing with anything apart from live sport, I like the drama and emotion of it!

I find that lackng in most films and dramas..

    Morning peeps

Feeling a bit grumpy today. I will try and pull out of it, but at the mo, I just want to howl, growl and bark at people.

On the positive side, I have managed to synch my work emails with my phone. Been trying for weeks so chuffed to have sussed it at long last.

JG - we hardly watch anything as it's broadcast anymore, but tend to record everything and watch it on playback. That way, we can ffwd the copious amounts of adverts that interrupt the viewing pleasure. We're really into the re-runs of The Sopranos (neither of us saw it first time round) and Six Feet Under (Nic saw it, I didn't) - excellent shows. and both American.

We've got Great Expectations to get to, which was recorded over the Christmas holiday, 10 episodes of Merlin, gawd knows how many episodes of Boston Legal (it's fantastic - really!) and the weekly stuff like Corrie omnibus. I've also got my guilty pleasure shows like Desperate Housewives and Come Dine With Me (odd bunch this week!) which I watch during the day when I need a screen creak from this 'ere lappy.

Chris - I hope you get your way with a new puppy to keep Beth company. It'll also be fab for Noah now that he's getting a bit older and will distract away from new baby. We've all heard the song Lonely Boy .... say no more!

This morning I've ordered some puppy stuff from the river people - a nice shiny new crate to help housetrain him, some (machine washable!) bedding/car rugs and a couple of clip-on bowls for his new cage. The breeder lady said not to put his bowls on the floor but to keep them just below head height as this will alleviate any "wind issues" ..... hmmmmmm!

Right, I'll be back later. I'm baking some cookies today for an "outside the box" marketing campaign I'm going to run over the next 3 weeks.

    Wish me luck!

    Morning Bids!

Oh yes - Mother Of The Bride - good luck Susan! I hope you have THE most splendiferous hat, and look forward to seeing loads of piccies of your lovely gal on t'other side.

And no, I have no idea what a "screen creak" is either ...... please replace creak with the word "break" as I feel that will make more sense!

    Hi everyone:

Well, I am certainly not destined to be a weather forecaster - I got it totally wrong yesterday - it did not snow here! And today is clear, but very cold, of course. It's only a matter of time, I do know that, and the white stuff will arrive!

Susan: I will be thinking of you today - I hope the wedding is a triumph and that your daughter has the happiest day of her life! xx

AliB: bless you, and thank you, re: no snow! xx

Cheryl: we are the same - loads of stuff taped, probably won't be able to watch all of it. I would say to you, hang in there, and plough your way through the Sopranos - that will be well worthwhile. For me, it is the best television programme (in its genre) ever!

Nothing much to report from me, so just want to wish everyone a good day.

    C xx

    Morning All,

Almost clear blue skies here too, no frost but only 1 degree on the car thermometer!

Susan, Thinking of you all today, I hope the sun shines and you have a wonderful day to remember xx

Chrissie, Glad it didn't snow, but as you said it's bound to at some point....eek!

    Morning Lovely Bids xxx

Tell you who I haven't seen on here for a while MTD - are you OK chuck?? xx

Deevs, I'm feeling grumpy too and really didn't want to get out of bed this morning.

I don't say this because I need sympathy, what I really need is a slap! But I don't like February as everywhere you look the shops are overflowing with valentines day stuff and it just makes me feel a bit sad.

I've got over 30 hours of stuff recorded to watch at some point, some of it going back almost to this time last year! I love American programmes, in fact some of the more obscure channels show some brilliant stuff - Rizzoli and Isles for example, a modern day Cagney and Lacey.

Right best get on with it, in the office alone today as my Wednesday morning colleague had a minor op on Monday and is not feeling too bright.

Back later and that's a promise not a threat :)

    AliB
    xx
