Heston and Bear. Bear and Heston.

Chris Evans | 14:39 UK time, Friday, 13 January 2012

A double delight on The Breakfast Show this morning. And a new series for television born on the air. I'll Catch It (Bear) You Cook It (Heston). Now that's smells like a hit to me. If it happens and it is, they have promised to dedicate it to Joe Schmo who leaves us today for a tour of duty on Drive Time. We love you Joe.

First week back this week and so the first weekend. The One Show tonight with Martin Freeman and Ray Winstone and then the first Friday meal of the year with Tash. We love our Fridays !

See you on the radio on Monday.

Peace and Love

    Afternoon Chris and blog team!

Missed most of the show this morning as I was att a networking breakfast do by 7.30am - things are really taking off for me now and I'm soooooooooooooo excited!

I'm looking forward to tonight too. Nic's been working really long hours this week (13/14 hour days) - something to do with his job and year end stuff - but the wine rack's been topped up, the goose meat has defrosted for a nice hot curry and the Cloud+ box is full to bursting with stuff to catch up on.

    Bliss!

Have a lovely weekend with General Beth, Corporal Noah and Sargeant Tash, and I'll "see" you on the other side.

    Muchos amore.

Deevs - My manager did an all nighter on Wednesday/Thursday in the hope of finishing year end - he rocks! (and he was still civil when I discussed holiday with him yesterday so that was good!)

Loved the Bare Necessities this morning but it was too short and what happened to Mowgli - there was like a whole verse missing :(

Bear Grylls rocks and I think that whole live tour thing is awesome - there's a lad at church who thinks that Bear is the best!

Greetings Of 'ello Ter CLP & ALL Blog Dudes...

    Bingo Star 'ere...

CLP - A most very nice radio show this morning... And great ter see yersen atlast with 'eston.... The only probs a can't tell in the photer who is 'eston...... And who is CLP???????????????????
    Maybe long lost brothers??????

Deevs - Thanks for yer nice commentation about me niceness of my commentation... Most nice niceness all around!!!!!!

Ali B - Thanks for yer interest in me doing up me new old 'ouse and recomending a documant it by taking photers!!!!!!
A 'ave taken many photers.... A 'ave.... But that's the problem... ave taken so many a don't know where ter start!!!!!!!!!
Only yesterdee whilst attempting me damp proof course.... A took one of the wall... Of the 'ole in the wall.... the drill that made the 'ole..... The bigger 'ole..... the dampness..... the brick a removed from the wall.... The tools ter remove the brick..... the 'ole where the brick was..... Some of me 'air on the floor next ter the brick (after me pulling me 'air out due to severe tension caused by me realsing me walls are too rotten ter do a dmap proof course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes.... It all went wrong yesterdee.... A was drilling me 130 year old walls and the mortor is so perished from years of damp.... It 'as turned ter like soil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I only beleive in doing things correctly.... So ave realised it's go from 'plan g' ter 'plan aych!!!!!!'
Plan aych invloves removing the lower part of me wall.... Then rebuilding it with new mortor and a proper damp proof strip/ course!!!!!!!!!!!
But then a realsied am gonna 'ave ter do the same on the inside wall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And ave still not rebuilt the small leaking glass roof above the bay window that's partly the cause of so much damp getting under the 'ouse in this area of the 'ouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So after much thinking..... Am going back ter 'plan d' which involves, And which a was gonna do before, of removing the wall and window and putting some pvc french draws.... SOZ!!!!!!!
A mean pvcu french doors in it's place.... Thus allowing light ter flow inter the dark back living room.... And this will 'elp cure me baywindow leaking roof problem as a will remove the small glass roof and replace it above the french doors with a small slate roof!!!!!!!!!
Then the newish pvcu window that's now above the damp wall and below the leaking glass bay window roof, once removed te rmake way for the french doors, will perfectly slot inter where the kitchen window/ door is now!!!!!!!!
The kitchne window the only one that's not been replaced ter double glazing by the previous owners!!!!!!!!!
And removing the old kitchen door will make use of a large area of wasted space in the kitchen.... Making the kitchen seem alot bigger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then the access ter the garden can be through the new french doors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Job sorted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A will take 470 photers of the above as a do it and bang them on the otherside of the net.... aka the thingy site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Niceness ter each ;-)))))

  • Comment number 8.

'ope that answers yer question Ali B ;-))))

PS The thingy site is the FB site.... wink wink!!!!!!!

'ope all ave a most nice weekend.... A won't am working termozza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But it's better ter ave a job and work weekends than ter not ave a job so in that respect.... ALL is most nice!!!!!!!!

    Bye!

hey CLP that was one of the funniest Friday shows yet. I clean in a local pub so catch the show from 7.30 till the end on my personal radio. Bear and Heston are a match made in heaven. Hope Heston decides to get involved with the scouts will be so much worthwhile than his "little chef" venture enjoy the weekend see you Monday

    Evening all

Thanks for all the kind words about my niece, I haven't been able to find out how she is today as yet and whether she managed to get through school.

I might see if I can take a couple of days off at half-term and go down to see her...

Bids, we had ice rather than frost this morning, and I had to resort to tipping warm water over the door seals to get into the car this morning! I hate doing that, because sometimes it freezes up worse than ever, but had no option, the door wasn't budging!

I only heard 10 mins of Bear and Heston, so will tryto listen again whilst I'm cleaning the fish out over the weekend.

Heard the show this morning right up to Bear abseiling from the roof. I do love that little boy singing in the bath - always makes me smile. And The Candyman always makes me think of Mary - I know she loves it.

JG, I had to scrape the car this morning too - bummer.

Have had a lovely day with my little boys, the 1yr old only attempted to bite me once and the 6yr old played Pirates of the Caribbean all afternoon - dressed as Capn Jack of course.

Now, I was going to have a Friday Night Tea Club but daughter-in-law gave me a bottle of Chardonnay so it would be rude not to I suppose.

Deevs, so glad your business is starting to thrive.

    Evening all

I enjoyed listening to Bear and Heston this morning too. I can't remember what it was, but it was difficult at one stage to stop myself giggling in the middle of the office (I listen using my mini DAB radio).

Frost featured heavily here this morning, I had had the forethought to put a cover on the windscreen so I only had to spray the side windows (the back takes care of itself with the heated rear window.

The weekend has officially started chez dipper, the G&T's have just been poured and the dinner is in the oven.

Back later with the usual meeerllott.

And hello to Moby, CapnStella and Han.

I see Rothiemurchus is being filmed for The One Show and Alph, one of the rangers, is being interviewed. He's guided our daft lot round The Doune and is a lovely man - really looking forward to seeing it. Hope Loch an Eilien is shown.

This Chardonnay is rather nice. xxxxx

Just spoke to my Mum, niece didn't make it out of the house today for the school bus....

The School nurse came out to my sister's work, another school, and niece managed to talk to her for a while... this will take some time!!

Watching some cloud + stuff...might have to change that phrase thanks to the Fruit people! lol

Have a glass of wine on the go, not sure what to have for dinner...

    JG x

  • Comment number 19.

JG, at least your niece is talking to someone - sounds like the school nurse knows what she's doing. Poor wee scone - not easy being a young person.

My youngest hated school - I once went to an Edinburgh Festival Jazz concert with friends, making my way home via Waverley Station, and bumped into him with a couple of his friends. They should have been in school and were terrified when I said 'Hello'. At the time I worked with a Youth Counselling organisation, so I just took him to work with me. He had a great time at the skateboarding park. Didn't do him any harm - he's now a hard-working father of the 6yr old and 1yr old.

JG, I think your niece would love to see you at half-term if you can.

Firstly a just wanted ter say thank for all yer most kind birthdee greetings both on the blog and on the FB gig ;-))))))))

Ans secondly a just wanted ter say.... It suddenly 'it me terdee that now we are 'alf way through January..... The dark nights are getting shorter.... and it 'it me..... Winter is very nearly over.... The bad part of the year 'as nearly gone, a find October ter December the most depressing time of year (although a don't get depressed) But it's getting colder and darker at that time of year.... For me it's the time of year I don't like weather/ light wise.... (although it is very cozy though winter)... Then Christmas come ter brighten dark December up... A nice interlude ter break up the gloooom!!!!!!!!
But 'ere we are January 'alf over already all..... Ok a know it's very cold terdee.... we could get an icey snowy spell soon (bit of snow actually would be picturesque).... But only 4 weeks ter go and then winter is practically gone....... The dark days are over (nearly).... So 'ow appropriate ter play this most nice song ter celebrate this momentous occasion >>>

Bingo, Happy Belated Birthday wishes me dear, hope you had a lovely day, even though you were working.

Was it Bear that was with Miranda Hart on her trek up and down a mountain? Really enjoyed watching that.

I've had the man in the cupboard staying the weekend - just taken him home and the gritters were out - bums. Freezing up here today. We decided to try the 拢10 dinner for 2 from you-know-where and it was yummy, definitely will be having that again - and I got the wine to myself. Am just enjoying the other half of the bottle.

    Back in a bit. xxxxx

Morning all big hugs and thanks to those of you who spared a thought for me on Friday. The whole thing went off perfectly and it was a very fitting send off for me ole nan. The flowers and even the service provided by the funeral directors and the priest was very good.

I was surprised by the amount of people who stopped and bowed their heads as the hurse went past between Romford and Upminster on Friday it was a lovely thing to see and gave me a renewed confidence in the human race.

Got back on Saturday to find out my best friends chap had left her on Friday night (out of the blue and totally unexpected) the hard thing is that he is hubbies best mate too. Makes it a bit difficult but we are trying to find out what has happened as she is completely devastated as are we, it was most definately not what any of us were expecting.

Havent been able to catch up completely but I hope that everyone is well if a little frozen today.

Take care and thanks again to you all CB xx

    Good morning everyone,

Another very cold one here in Ayrshire again but it beats the rain!

Glad things went well for you on Friday CB, and thoughts are with you re: your friend, I know how difficult it is as I've been there, with hindsight it really wasn't out of the blue but at the time it did seem to be, I'm sure you will be a great support to her.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Annie, yes that is Bear who did the programme with Miranda, he also did one with Jonathan Ross which is worth seeing, the bit where Jonathan threw his dinner out of the cave was absolutely hilarious.

    Morning all

Bright and blue and blinkin chilly here this morning!

It was not quite dark when I came down to the kitchen this morning so there is hope - the winter is heading away!

Was just thinking about blogger I was missing and thought I didn't see as much but I went back and read through some old blogs and realised there's actually still a lot of us hanging on in here!

If you pass through, I'd love to know how you are - Baggy, Clodagh, MTF, Oz, RosiePosie - if I've missed seeing you I'm sorry

I read the blog and posts from the day Chris confirmed he was moving to breakfast and some of the post debating how the new holders of the drivetime and breakfast batons would do. I wonder if the people who expressed strong opinions, shall we say, over whether they would or would not listen still feel the same!

Right, best look busy - I wish i was in an office with other people today
