In the words of Frankie Valli...

Chris Evans | 16:35 UK time, Tuesday, 15 May 2012

...Oh What A Night. The Sony Radio Awards 2012. A mere thirty seven awards, three live performances, a three course meal, drinks before hand, and a disco afterwards. I'm surprised we're not still there. And on the naughtiest of school nights as well - a Monday.

Well done to the team for their win. They so deserve it, the award was taken home by the ex boss and seven year incumbent of having to put up with me - Ms Helen Thomas.

Of course we wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for you guys - so on behalf of all the team, all the time, thank you to Sony, but most of all thank you to you.

Peace and Love

PS Just realised that if people don't know the 'Oh What A Night' lyrics they might think I've lost the plot LOL!

Actually I did get them slightly wrong as it's 'late December back in 63'!

Chris, what a lovely blog from you - thank you, for your thank you! How appropriate that Helen took home the award. And, yes, congratulations to the entire team. xx

    Hi everyone:

An early one for me today - I am having the day off today to spend it with my sister, as we remember that it was a year ago today our lovely sister passed away. Where did that year go? I have no idea. It's still quite surreal- even though you know it's true, it is still hard to believe, sometimes. Our sister's favourite pastime was going out for lunch, so we are doing that on her behalf ... I daresay we will enjoy ourselves, of course, and she would want that!

Lovely to see Tiggs and Pen, and also lovely to see Deebee pop in yesterday.

Hope you all have a good Wednesday.

    C xx

    Good morning all,

Crissie ,I'll be thinking off you today ,and yes where has the year gone .What a lovely thing to do ,I'm sure that your lovely sister will be there with you and watching over you enjoying your lunch ,and no doubt that memory box will be delved in quite deeply today.

We have a sunny day here so far today ,but other weather just might change that ,I'm not holding my breath .

Nothing more exciting to report from me ,so I'll wish you all a good day and enjoy.

    Take care ..Bids.xxx.

    Morning all

Chrissie, I hope you both have a lovely lunch and I really hope that you have as beautiful weather as we do here to raise a glass to your sister

Chris, it's no wonder you and the team won a Sony award - the joy of your show shines through the radio and lights up our mornings.

With the clear blue skies and sunshine this morning, who can fail to be uplifted!

    afternoon peeps

First - Congrats CLP and team. Keep up the good work.

Chrissie - have a lovely day with your sister remembering your other sis.
My dear, dear friend Shirley died two years ago.
The last birthday we were able to celebrate with her, when she was very ill, was in the November just a couple of months before she died.

We (7 girlie pals and me) sent her husband and sons out for the afternoon and we took 'afternoon tea' to her house to share with her and her 90 yr old mum. Little sandwiches, cakes, scones etc plus lots of cups of tea.

  • Comment number 22.

part two - as I just can't seem to post more than a few lines at once!!

It was a great day and on each of the anniversaries of her birthday since, we have gone to a hotel and had 'afternoon tea' and remembered her. We share anecdotes on the daft things she and we would do, recall occasions when we have all been together and generally express how lucky we were to know her.

I'm sure that's what you will be doing today, so make it a happy occasion not a sad one - as much as you can, anyway.

OK - lunch over so ttfn, Crumpy :O)

  • Comment number 23.

    Afternoon,

Sorry I've not been aroound (what do you mean you hadn't noticed;))

I've had internet trouble and I've been right busy.

Chrissie, Thinking of you today and I am sure you've had a lovely lunch remembering your dear sister xx Also thanks for the good wishes for Sunday (you too csn) it was fine, no one threw tomatoes at me or booed me off xx

Chris, Congrats on the award to you and the Team xx

I'm a bit poorly at the moment as I seemed to have sucummed to a cold, sore throat, cough and general yuck feeling. Still I mustn't grumble as the last time I had a cold was last September. I think dry rot has set in as it's been so cold and wet!

Good to read you Tiggs and Pen xx

I've come to another office to use the computer and I am hoping by the time I get back into work tomorrow the internet is back up and working. Two days without it, makes you realise just how much you rely on it for work.

    AliB
    xx

  • Comment number 24.

    Afternoon also

Crumpy - the way you remember Shirley is the way I would like to be remembered by my friends. Afternoon tea is my favourite. You can keep swanky restaurants - give me a good buttie, cake and a nice pot of Earl Grey (other teas are available).

To everyone who's poorly, looking for jobs, or just needs a hug - have a hug on me.

Dare I whisper that is has been sunny here all day long?

Blinkin cold though! Still need socks on!

Took Gibbs into work with me for a while today. He was a little star and charmed all my Old'uns!

Then we went to Mum and Dad's for lunch and he got extra treats!!

Not sure how happy Gibbs'll be if he picks up one of the little chillies that are dotted in the corners of the patio where they fell off the plants last year!! Bet he only does that once!

It's been a lovely sunny day here now that the wind has dropped, hope it stays fine tomorrow.

Chrissie-I hope you and your sister have had a lovely day remembering the happy times with your late sister. Yes, where does the time go to?

Just when I thought there was nothing much on TV tonight I've noticed that Barry Manilow is on ITV3 at 8.0pm. Bring it on!

Annie, I have a CD of songs that Jodi wrote to go with the book that I got when I heard her talking about the book and got her to sign my copy (oo get me ;-)

I'll try and do you a copy and send it. They are beautiful songs

    Evening all!

So glad on the award for Mr. Chris - well-deserved accolade, I thought. I LOVED the Chicken Soup shenanigans with Rabbi Pete this morning, hehe!

Did anyone hear Rebecca on the Simon Mayo show earlier today talking about how Johnny Saunders used to occasionally wear a lime-green Borat-style mankini (for work comedy purposes)...?!? I wonder if Chris can corroborate this...? And also advise if Vassos will be doing the same? And - yes - I WOULD like to see pictures. ;-)

    Love to all... Keep smiling!

    Hello everyone.

Just a quick pop in from me.

I feel really tired at the moment, must be my age or all the shopping trips that both my daughters keep taking me on in the last week to the find the perfect present for their dads birthday.

Chrissie, thinking of you today. xx

Ali, sorry to hear you're not feeling well, hope you feel better very soon. xx

Thank you Marjie, I enjoyed watching Barry Manilow too. xx

Sezza, hope Gibbs is beginning to enjoy his walks more now. xx

Annie, hope all is well with you. What are you reading on your Kindle at the moment. xx

Roo, nice to see you here. xx

Congratulations Christoff Lambie Pie - well done and to ´óÏó´«Ã½ 6 Music as well.

Enjoyed the music this morning and the vocal coach second appearance was very interesting - dare I ask for a third appearance. I learnt so much from Carol.

To all other bloggers and bloggetts I wish you all a lovely night and it was sunny most of today down my way today.

    Good morning all,

Can't believe it's Thursday already ,so that means it must be Friday tomorrow.

Still quite chilly down on the south coast ,nota bit summery or what it should be for this time of year.

Sezza, i see that Gibbs is getting out and about meeting people and I'm sure he was the midst of all the attention,It's good for them to mix isn't it.

Ali, you take care hun , I would recommend a hot toddy ,but you don't drink mores the pity for this occasion.

Hope everyone else is AOK ,think it's only 4 weeks now to the Edinburgh meet ,Annie have you booked that table yet??

Just a quick hello to Crissie ,hope the meal went well yesterday for you and your sister :-)

    See you later folks ...

Hi Chris - Ref Statins - The government want to promote Statins for Cholestorol but the ´óÏó´«Ã½ has failed to mention that Statins have serious dangerous side effects and are a major cause of serious flu like pain and serious permanent muscle wastage in many users. There are class action law cases going on against the makers of statins in the states. Maybe the ´óÏó´«Ã½ should consider a jeremy Vine show on this - A healthy diet low cholestorol diet and lots of Vitamin C and fruit and veg works as well without the very serious side effects of Statins - I've had a stroke (TIA) and the Statins gave more grief than the Stroke and the side effects of the Statins are almost immediate and can take years to recover from - Mark B

    Morning all

Well done Chris and King Ken of the Bruce. Wonderful new about the listening figures.

Chrissie I hope everything went well for you yesterday. Ali hope you feel better soon and Sezza hope Gibbs doesnt lick one of those chillis like you say he will only do it the once.

Mark I am with you on the statins, they nearly killed my father the cheaper ones that is, put him in hospital with a broken pelvis as his legs went from under him and when we explained to the hospital that it was the statins that had caused the muscle wastage they told us it wasnt it was the strokes he had had 4 years previously and he would be chair to bed for the rest of his life.

We fought the hospital and changed his statins and he is able to get about now and has put the weight back on. Other people I know who are on the cheaper statins dont seem to have any side effects at all. My husband has them since his heart attack and he has no muscle wastage or joint pain.

Sometimes doctors need to listen to individuals who know there own bodies and not assume that because they have a degree in medicine that they know everything.

Its flaming freezing here in Shropshire and not funny I need some warmth and I need it very soon.

Have a good day everyone CB xxx
