Well What a Treat...

Chris Evans | 12:06 UK time, Friday, 18 May 2012

...it was having those three magi of the musical world in on the show this morning - Gary Barlow, Gareth Malone and Lord Lloyd WebCaster. And how about that song Sing? I mean, seriously, how good is it ? Very very clever to have all the pressure of an order from The Queen and manage to pull it off.

Hot footed it off straight away when we came off air to blat down to Cornwall and tonight's One Show live from RNAS Culdrose to welcome The Olympic Torch to the shores of Great Britain. All very exciting. And when just waking up every day is a bonus, days like today can make me feel almost faint with giddyness.

Hope all is good in your world. Enjoy your weekends.

See you on the telly tonight with Becks and the torch.

Peace and Love

    Wow.....what a song.....really pulls at my heartstrings...

I couldn鈥檛 listen to any music at all and certainly couldn鈥檛 *sing* for y-e-a-r-s after our baby boy died - it was all just waaay toooo painful. And although this song still makes me cry, I am ready for these words now....

"Find your feet, stand your ground - sing it louder, sing it clearer, make some noise, find your voice....sing it stronger, sing together, shouting love tonight.....鈥

Chris - enjoy Cornwall and enjoy your giddiness!!! xXx

  • Comment number 4.

    Hello CE & Everyone.

'Sing it louder sing it clearer knowing everyone will hear ya'. I've only heard the song Sing once Chris and already it's going through my mind all the time. What a sing song it's going to be with the song Sing! Andrew, Gary & Gareth have done HMH proud!

Looking forward to The One Show tonight (forget the soaps) with the Olympic torch arriving in Cornwall.

    MM xxx

PS A nice day here, hope it's the same in Cornwall later!

Thank you so much Berni for the beautiful link. It's so uplifting and I know exactly what you mean, I've had tragedies in my life (won't go into details) but I always found that music really helped.

This is the perfect sound for the Jubilee song, Andrew, Gary & Gareth certainly know how to write a good one.

Back again for one last Blog, is it me or does Gary Barlow get more good looking with every passing year.

Maddy I agree with you forget the soaps (never watch them anyway) The One Show all the way for me.

    Love to all X

Its what makes the world a happy place.

Ooooh Chris, I can't wait to hear this song - I will be up at 6am tomorrow listening to today's show! And I won't see the One Show tonight, but once again, thank goodness for iplayer!

I so agree with Sharon and Sezza: you are completely infectious - you make every morning a joy and, well, I just love you! xx

Berni: I did indeed see you waving at the show!

Berni & Maddy: yes, sometimes music is so poignant, it is painful. But what a gift music is - how lucky we are that we can hear it.

Sharon: I know, actually I think Gary gets better looking by the minute - what a babe he is!

Cheryl: Becks - yes, pretty gorgeous, it must be said. But the tattoos overdose is a little too much for me. I bet he's very relieved I won't be lusting after him!

Crumpy: lovely to see you earlier. I bet your choir are fabulous - any chance of a copy of that CD you mentioned?

    Only an hour-and-a-half to freedom!

    Afternoon/Evening each

Have just watched Sing on the good old iplayer - fabby. Just about to pour a glass of the Merlot to watch the One Show.

The 6yr old and I checked out when the Olympic Torch will be passing near their town - 5.21 on 13 June - how do they do that?? He wants his Daddy to take him to see it.

    Back later. xxxxx

Oh that Video and that song - how beautiful it is!

I think I am going to need to buy lots of tissues for the next few months - is it my age or am I just soppy!

  • Comment number 13.

Well, how good was that? Didn't know Becks was SIR David!!!!!

Berni, have just seen your post - a big hug to you. I never knew what my lost baby was, and I'm sure there's lots of people on here who know exactly how you feel.

Apparently the 6yr old was watching the One Show too, and is now totally into the Olympic Flame. I've promised to be there with him to see it pass by on 13 June.

    Nope, sorry MBD, still here!!

I am all on my ownsome today - well, just me and the dawg!

Boy2 off on an school weekend and Boy1 and Mr Sezza off for a day geocaching. Too far for Gibbs to walk (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) so I volunteered to stay home!

There's a garage sale in the village this morning so we shall have a wander along there and see what rubbish I can buy!

    Keep me company today!

Morning all! Just had a quick catch up on this blog - no time for the rest, and I agree the song but more importantly the video are BRILLIANT! Love it love it love it.

So shut the work part of my lap top up for just over a week last night and tomorrow we are off on our jolly holidays - we are so beside ourselves with excitement! Just me and GD, some books, backgammon and a bit of gentle floating in the pool I think.

Right best get a wiggle on - got my friends coming over for lunch for a dog sitting briefing - and yes Annie - always in my mind - especially next week....

So have a great Saturday everyone, what ever you are up to
Will catch you briefly in the morning

    Morning All,

You have to imagine this email is being said with a very deep husky voice ;) I was at a party last night and spent the evening shouting over the disco, so my voice is somewhat croaky today. Had a good boogie though and stayed till the end I was enjoying myself so much, even though I felt rough.

Debs, Have a super hols, you always seem to work you socks off going here there and everywhere so enjoy putting your feet up for a change xx

The Jubilee song is fab, but I hope Radio 2 don't play it to death, like they did with the Milli Wives song, just my humble opinion.

I did laugh at the One Show when Chris asked the little girl where she got her top from, you'd have thought that after all these years in broadcasting he'd know not to ask kids questions like that, especially on the 大象传媒.

The housework is done, second lot of washing on and now I am sitting down with a cup of coffee. The parentals care coming for tea today before we go off to the Foodbank Concert tonight. Although I've got to go early and welcome people so I'll leave them with the remote!

Sezza, Enjoy your day with the dog xx

csn, Have a nice time with the family tonight xx

Dog is asleep, worn out from flirting with all the ladies we met up the street!

(Including one lady I must catch up with again. She is a PAT dog assessor and given my line of work, I think this is a skill Gibbs needs to learn!)

Only one purchase was made - most of the stalls seemed to be a sea of pink plastic toys - easily resisted! No fudge this year - very disappointing!

Only thing I did buy was a baby bath! Guess who that's for!

Now got my feet up, watching the Jubilee parade. How lovely does the Queen look and how happy!

Ali, bet you sound all sexy this morning! Have fun at the concert

Debs, enjoy your holibobs and bring a bit more sunshine back with you!

It always makes me laugh when they say it's the hottest day of the year so far in the first half of the year. Surely that's just the way it goes - it gets warmer from spring until mid summer then it starts getting cooler. You would expect a day in late may to be warmer than a day in early may! Well, wouldn't you!

Have a lovely time at the concert tonight.

Not Notley High School Sezza?!?! I remember playing against them for the school hockey team - vicious lot, they were! Enjoy Ms Teal x

I'm Home Alone too today as Nic is umpiring (yes, it's stopped raining long enough for a league cricket match to take place!). I'm having a bit of a catch-up day, doing some admin, a few tutorials on tecchy stuff and just generally catching up. One thing I've learnt is that it's just as important to work ON your business rather than constantly IN it. More of the same tomorrow as it's a Nic/MiniNic weekend, until they come home for a lovely roast dinner!

I've got the cricket on in the background but may down tools in a bit to watch the play-off final .... c'mon West Ham!!

Wasn't Mr Beckham just absolutely gorgeous on The One Show last night. Chrissie, I agree about the tats overdose but man, he is just blindingly good looking. It made me laugh when Chris asked him if he'd pick himself for the Olympic football team ... of course he would!

Right, a bit more admin then it's footie time.

Enjoy your weekend, however you're spending it.

    Afternoon each from SUNNY Fife!!

Deevs, you put me to shame - I should be doing some work too but cba, so I'm having a do nothing day, with the Kindle and Bob Dylan singing to me. Just looked out some CDs I've not listened to for ages.

Debs, have a lovely relaxing holiday and Hellooooooooooooo to everyone else.

It's more out of necessity Annie - I'm not complaining, but client work is really busy at the mo, so inevitably, during the week my own paperwork piles up, stuff gets printed off and left on the side, piles appear - all with the good intention of making a file up for "that" in a mo, mails get flagged and parked ..... so today it's catch up day.

Although I've just watched the 1st half of the footie ... :-)

Oooh, and cooking my first ever Do Piaza tonight. After the excellent ones in Goa, the bar is set quite high!

    Hiya everyone:

A very unusual Saturday for me - I am always up at 6am, I always have something organised - meeting friends, working for a couple of hours, whatever. Not today - a real, genuine lie-in until 8.30, and nothing organised for the day. Just lovely being home! Housework done, MrS watching the footie, I am catching up on Chris's show from yesterday.

Wow, isn't it fabulous. "Sing" is wonderful - Berni, thanks for the link to the video, which I have just watched. Truly a gorgeous video - one of the best I have ever seen. How beautiful is that little girl who starts the song? Every person in the video just so fantastic - I love it. If I was 20 years younger, I would truly be in love with Gary Barlow.

Sal: thanks for letting me clock off yesterday!

Annie: isn't that terrific about your wee grandson. If you accompany him to watching the Olympic Torch pass by, he will remember it for ever, really he will. I am so looking forward to hearing about this at the Edinburgh meet.

Sezza: hope you are enjoying your day with Gibbs, and have a great time tonight - perhaps a glass of wine before the show?

AliB: have a lovely time tonight at the concert.

Cheryl: yes, no doubt about DB is gorgeous. One of things I like about him is that he seems so genuine, so down to earth, despite the fact that he could actually buy the world if he wanted to. And I think he adores his wife and children. A nice, nice guy, if ever there was one.

Debs: how exciting for you and your GD - have a fantastic holiday. We'll miss you! xx

MsS and her lovely boyfriend have returned home - they just want to get on the next plane and go back! Which is just how you want to feel at the end of a holiday - I know that in the past we have had one or two really disappointing experiences where you think "good grief, another two days to go - get me out of here!!"

Sorry this is so long - just so much to catch up on! Enjoy the remainder of Saturday, everyone.

    C xx

Deevs, I've got stuff 'parked' in my inbox which must be printed before Monday - I'll do it tomorrow.

Chrissie, lovely to see you, glad you're having a relaxing Saturday.

Daughter has just called round to get away from her houseful of boys who are driving her mad. Told her I was thinking of mowing the lawn and hey presto it was done, although she did manage to bugger up the strimmer - yet another oops moment!. She's also in love with the Olympic Torch - seems like we'll be going to Edinburgh to see it, so that'll be twice it's run past me.

Cannot believe the weather forecast for Corfu - Tue, Wed, Thur - RAIN!!!!! WHAT!!!! its been glorious for the last month - typical hey, oh well lets hope that they have got it wrong! But you folks in the UK are in for a warmer sunnier week.....

So best go and buy a bottle of fake tan so that I will at least look like I've been on hols! And I think we'll take GDs m@c and some DVDs just in case.

Enjoy watching the torch Annie - unfortunately it comes pretty much past the end of my road on Tuesday :-(

Right time for a coffee and a case to pack, so you lot have fun and I'll report back in just over a week

I have finally conquered the ironing mountain that has somehow appeared in my house! honestly, i don't know where it comes from!

CSN, Did you have a nice time with your family?

we had a lovely evening. Dinner with friends then Clare Teal - brilliant! Just a shame the evening wasn't so well supported but it is a new venue so hopefully that will improve

Annie, It is NOT sunny here! In fact it's freezing! I have retreated into socks and jeans and warm jumpers!

Wish I was going to the sunny sun with Debs!

Deevs, Gibbs has a very smart tag but I want to get a new one and put the vet's number on as well!

He is a very smart dog today - had his very first bath this morning! Extra fluffy now!

    Hi Chris,

pleased you have managed to sort out your R.N.A.S's with your RAF's! Some people get quite excited about these things you know......

The song "Sing" is very good! If it is going to be released it could easily be another number one hit!

Good luck with the baby race. My middle child (and Daughter) was born on 28 May 1991.

    RIP - Robin Gibb!

I have not been around much, far too much going on I am sorry to say. :-( I do try to read the blog when I can and miss you all. ;-)

    Keep smiling
