Dom

As everyone else is packing for Germany, ( Joc - lose the flip-flops by the way - seriously!) I am not getting my suitcase out nor indeed my summer footwear clobber. This is because I am NOT going to Germany for the World Cup!!!!!!

I'd like to quickly point out this has nothing to do with ASBO's or the fact i've "surrendered" my passport. I haven't. In fact I've recently got a new passport and i'm quite pleased with the photo on it. Anyway, that's not important right now. The reason I'm not going to Germany is because as a very well respected News Journalist I am required to stay at HQ to make sure our news coverage is as professional and balanced as normal (?)

Like millions of our listeners I will be watching most of the games in the pub. So - when that first Crouch goal goes in - where would YOU rather be? In the stadium itself watching the game unfold in front of your eyes or in the pub with me and my friend Shane who sells Jeeps. That's right !!! And you can get crisps and peanuts any time you want them. Brilliant.

I'll miss the rest of the team and i'm sure they'll miss me. But - let's hope football is the real winner! Or if you're Scottish - Brazil!!!

I will still be interviewing big name stars as usual and may have a few secret projects up my sleeve. How intriguing!!!

So "Come on England!!!!" ( Aled - if i'm not allowed to show bias, perhaps substitute England with Ivory Coast)

This is my first ever blog by the way. Big moment for me.

Bye now. Dom.

Dear Dom,

Knowing that you won't be entertaining us fully with the others out in Germany. I thought that I'd just comment on your commitment to the team, if i were you i would have prepared for the world cup by booking it off a year in advance and getting out there, so that carrie was stuck in your seat. I know you have kids an that but its the world cup, surely theres a good cheap labour baby sitter out there!

There should be a DWCF (Dominic World Cup Fund - duh). But you know, we're just so great back here, noone shows more spirit than the local Rose and Crown or King's Head (or any other pub name I have failed to mention- I am dreadfully sorry). Anyway, must dash, absolutely nothing to do but I'd thought I'd write must dash... I think I'll go now...

Dom,
I thought Chris was going to spring that you were going with them as a surprise at the end of the show, I was disappointed for you.

He'd only have to do one hour overtime to pay for you to come over!!!

I'm gutted for you that you're not going to Germany with the rest of them. We could have had newsbeat a-la-monty python from a desk in the middle of a field somewhere.

You Rock! You'll be on my case from now on.. Although I may have to photoshop you a proper sombrero ;)

Hi Dom,
What a shame you're not going to be there with the rest of the team.
However, if the your passport picture is the same as your blog picture then maybe its for the best....
Look forward to your next post.

Well their loss is our gain (how that works I'm not really sure, never met you nor am i likely to just thought it might make you feel better!) Am I waffling? xxxxx

Dom,

Can you inform us when your planning on flying out to Germany if you get the chance, as after you flew to Portugal the day after we were knocked out it would be good to be prepared.

Hey Dominic!

Just want to say I think that Rod McKenzie is really mean not to let you go to Germany with Chris and the rest of the team.

Here's an idea, since Aled knows nothing about football, why don't you get him to stay behind and read the news instead??

Anyhoo, I'm off now to catch up on BB - you could return the favour for Aled by covering an eviction for him!

Keep up the good work and the rubbish weather, and when is ORT coming to my part of the world?

Love ya xx

Hi Dom,

may i say that you're my favourite newsreader - i think you should do the six o'clock news on tv, i think that would be good. :)

I will also not be going to Germany - but just imagine, when we win the World Cup, where would you rather be? In England where there's lots of happy English people or in Germany with lots of Germans?

Talking of crisps Dom, did you know that people eat more crisps in Britain than the whole of Europe put together? So you wouldn't be able to eat many crisps in Germany too - another reason to stay.

Well done on your first blog, but you repeated the first paragraph. :(

Oh well, i'll comment on your next blog, speak soon, goodbye from me xxx
