I'm married but I fancy him

Post categories:

As you may have probably heard, the footballer man David Beckham came in to see us this moring.

I've seen him on TV lots of times, and I think it's widely agreed he's a decent-looking bloke.

However, even straight, married men like myself and early news editor Toby Sealey found him strangely attractive.

It was obvious from the moment he walked in that Carrie would be uncontrollable and this proved to be the case. Just before the 0830 bulletin she turned to me and said, quote, "If I get too giddy please slap me".

This was the first ever live interview on the radio that David has ever given. We all felt very honoured that he chose the Chris Moyles Show to pop his radio cherry, and it was the best interview I've ever heard him give.

We learnt amongst other things that he's a normal dad who takes his kids to school, he thinks is actually a good looking man, and he talks in depth about his disappointment at being dropped from the England team.

More than anything he comes across just as a very decent, likeable bloke who loves his family and loves his football.

While this interview was going on the entire staff quota of Radio 1 decided to come down for "urgent business" in the studio area. There were lots of excuses given including "I think I left a pen here on Friday" to "I'm the head of music and I need to be here".

There are lovely pics of Mr Beckham who I now consider to be a friend just here.

Incidentally, David and I share something in common. It's not football skill although I did once play for St Ives Beavers, and it's not just good looks. It is in fact that we both share the same initials.

I'm Dominic Byrne, he's David Beckham. It's a DB thing.

Here are some other people whose initials are 'DB':

Del Boy

David Brent

Can you think of any more? Why not put them in the 'comments' part of this page?

Anyway, I digress... If you wanna listen again click this...

Drew Barrymore

Brilliant.

Hmmmmm David Beckham. Loved the interview - its a shame the FA and new England Manager diddn't show David half as much respect as the radio 1 team did. He should still be in the England squad - you cannot just "drop" one of the best players/icons/inspriations the England team has ever had after 10 years of passionate commitment.

(Also pleased to hear he watched Chris on the x factor.)

Shame really seeing as I love the show!!!

I love that Chris is sooo harsh to Aled even though he is such a cutie!
and the T Shirt Design/Mishap is hilarious, it makes me think of the song "This is my United States of Whatever!" Good song and maybe worth a play??

anyway, really liked the interview, best bit for me was when Chris asked about X-Factor. Remember thinking at time that watching Loos & the Major must have cheered Victoria up no end. She was pilloried before for her singing ability but after that she would be welcomed back anyday...

I had my ear pressed up against the radio! Such a fantastic way to start the day!! I sat at my desk with a cuppa and David Beckham in my ear! What more could a girl want... Other than him in the flesh that is! Victoria is a very lucky lady...

Had a discussion about how fit David Beckham is in work and one of the girls said he isn’t good looking!!!! Bearing in mind she fancies TONY BLAIR!! But I had to tell her to shut up when she said that she thought TONY BLAIR was BETTER LOOKING than DAVID BECKHAM!!!! Its just madness! Who in their right mind would agree? Cherie maybe.... but even then surely she has eyes and can see that the man she married is not HUBBA HUBBA more like FLUBBA FLUBBA!!

Oooh check out their perfume and aftershave its gorge! Everyone loves it... The aftershave makes you feel you know... in the mood! GUYS go buy it, because take it from a girl the LINX effect has nothing on this!!

Have I mentioned before that Pervalism by M.E Ellis is on sale from www.wildchildpublishing.com? Not for the faint hearted and probably Kevin Spacey's next oscar winning performance (if only). Incidentally all royalties from book sales this month of Pervalism and her second thriller Quits are going to the very worthwhile NSPCC. Go for it Michelle! The world needs more good samaritans.

I could only listen to David for a few minutes just driving to work this morning cos when i got to work my boss had radio 2 on !!!!! i normally beat him there but thought he could be a bit grouchy looking at him, so left well alone. David sounded like a really nice bloke and also I thought Chris was very well behaved and when he came out with naughty comments, he sounded a bit embarrassed. Kate

p.s just looked at some of the blogs and didn't expect Dom and Aled to look like they do. Dom sounds sexy, but unfortunately he isn't - wish i hadn't looked now. :~(
