I'm scared of running on Sunday

Good morning bloggers or afternoon bloggers or indeed good evening bloggers depending on what time you are reading this. I've now decided I don't like the name 'bloggers'. Why you might ask - well its because it rhymes with joggers..and that makes me think of running and namely the ...

Dave, Rach, Longman, my sister and I are all doing it on Sunday. Can't believe it's come round soooo quickly. Did the usual thing, thinking I had so much time to train now it's like four days away and I couldn't be more unfit!!!

I've still got this lurgy - I'm getting the blame for it but I reckons it's gone round and now everyone's giving it back to me! Can't seem to shake those pesky bacteria - I say bacteria cos it’s a cold and flu is a virus...I think..Anyway who cares all I know is I feel like absolute poo! Glands up in my throat, its sore, all bunged up and still got loads of that horrid phlegm (don't you love the way that word is spelt) going around my breathing systems...it's just not good especially when you have 13.1 miles looming..I've managed about seven but that was when I was feeling healthy..

I know haven't done any running for two weeks!! Last week was so busy with that karaoke and all..and three nights out in a row didn't help I have to say. I now have to go and get Dave and my names put on our running tops.

Like I need reminding of how many hours I have to go till we line up at the start. Reckon I'll be okay if I spend the next few days in bed all afternoon and take some serious decongesting, pain killing knock you out kinda stuff. And I'm sure the adrenaline along the way will help me get through it! And plenty of the Vaseline type material that helps you breathe rubbed on my chest...

Anyway - If you were listening to today's show, Ian Wright's gonna start training Chris. It was really very funny - go to listen again and check out the quiz bit that was great although I wish he'd come on the show a few weeks ago then he could have got us a bit more in shape for this run!!

Yours now shaking in my trainers

Carrie

Complain all you like, Carrie. Complaining is the only thing that makes things better.

BTW, I use the term, 'bloggists.' I like to change anything with 'er' to end in 'ist.' It makes them sound a little more hardcore. So you'll be a runnist. See? Good, eh? Do not complain about this though. There is a limit.

i did the GNR last year, it was horrible and i wouldn't ever do anything like it again. granted i'm too fat and too old to be an athelete but i didn't expect to lose 4 toenails as a result !

Great North Runners - I did my first half maarathon on Sunday in Windsor last week having done less training than planned however, even with some walking through in for a rest every now and again I made it round in one piece and now have a lovely picture of myself looking sweaty and tired as proof of the achievement. The best piece of motivation was something I saw on someone'e shirt just before I started - "Pain is temporary, Quitting is for life">

Good luck!

p.s. look out for my friend Gill who will be wearing an orange T shirt and a white cap.

Carrie,

I wouldn't worry about the training. A group of us run the Robin Hood half marathon a month ago and my mates training consisted of walking a couple of miles and eating KFC Bargain bucket meals and he still completed the course!!!

I love how Kath complains about you Carrie...and then comes back to complain some more...and then some more...and then some more!

Someone really ought to point out to her that maybe she should just...stop coming back. Ever.

Lots of luck with the GNR. You and Longman will no doubt be doing it together good and proper.

The run, that is.

Hi Carrie don't catch the show so much these days [used to listen every morning], change of job means I only occasionally catch the show. Anyway, I think it could be nerves that's making you feel like crap. You'll be fine on sunday. Keep up the good work and hi to the rest of the crew. xxx

Good luck on Sunday you lot.

13.1 miles eh, wow, I usually manage around 9-10 - but I imagine by around 13 the burning in your calfs, thighs and lower back will be agonising. No doubt your legs will turn to jelly and you will have this insane desire to throw your breakfast all over the road, but hang in there. Don't forget the little round plasters for your nips. That can REALLY kill after 4/5 miles. hehe Rather you than me!

Don't worry Carrie you'll do brilliantly!

Message for Chris: have you thought about adapting the song Golden Brown by The Stranglers into a piss-take of Gordon Brown?

"Gordon Brown, texture like lard..."

I can think of no one more qualified for this piss-take Chris, as you have sung most of my favourite parodies and have more of an understanding of modern day English politics than Weird Al.

Much love,

I got four in the quiz this morning because I've never watched Rhubarb and Custard in my life...clearly I'm too young ;) Good luck with your run! I'm going to go crawl into bed and dose up on lemsip now.
