Our wedding song - we want your ideas
I've been very naughty and didn't blog at work so I'm currently dictating it to Hoop Dogg whilst on the bus.
As we've noticed our comments systen hasn't been working properly - but we still want more interaction with you!
I need some suggestions for a first dance at the wedding. I'm currently having rows and bother with Major Tom over it.
Please make them slightly more appropriate than Chris' efforts, that mainly alluded to things that may happen on the wedding night!
I'm currently off to have a makeover to decide on my wedding day face. I'm hoping I won't end up too orange or looking like a drag queen.
Carrie

What about something classic like 'Ev'ry time we say goodbye' by Ella Fitzgerald or 'Someone to Watch Over Me' by Sinatra - you'll never 'outgrow' the song, and they're great for reluctant dancers - a bit of slow swaying will see you through! What ever you choose, enjoy it, as if you're like us, it'll probably the first time you've had to cuddle all day!

As a first dance, tiny dancer by elton john is a really nice song.It is quite long but that gives other guests a chance to join in with you guys on the dancefloor. I agree on a comment made by jordan (comment 25), my dad played the song I loved her first by heartland during his speech at my sisters wedding. It pretty much sums up all the things that a father could say about his daughter to his future son in law. If you were to have a father daughter dance this should be the one. Just listen to the lyrics..they are beautiful. Good luck with the wedding plans.xx

You should have a song that means something to you. When I got married, we had 'Unchained Melody' by The Righteous Brothers because our first date was to see Ghost at the cinema (Tacky song though!) We also had 'Something Changed' by Pulp because of the words and it was one of our favourite songs. On a lighter note - my friend had 'Trapped' by Colonel Abrahams. LOL

Not surprisingly they split up after a year!!

Sometimes you can't make it on your own - U2. We had this at our wedding in May last year, the lyrics are lovely, and had the right sentiment for us.
Plus, it would make Dom happy, I think!
Whatever you choose, have a great day and a wonderful life together.

Hi Carrie,
I think you should take a listen to Bryan Adams "HEAVEN". I had that for my wedding song in Dec 98, everytime I listen to the words I still get goose bumps..... there are plenty of versions on you tube.
I hope you have a lovely day, enjoy every minute because the day goes by so fast.
best wishes Diane

I am having the same problem with my other half. He wants "Lets get it on" but there is no way. We have narrowed it down to 2 songs either Jack Johnson "Better Together" or Etta James "At last" which will make my friends laugh but i love the song. I've been to 12 weddings the past year so we are trying to find something not cheesy and thats not been done

Hi Carrie
We had "Romeo and Juliet" by Dire Staits at our wedding which was something a bit different to everyone else at that time, who all had blummin' "Love Is all around" by Wet Wet Wet! That was 1994, and 14 years and 3 kids later, we're still together.
Mind you, Lonestars "AMAZED" keeps popping up, and it IS a great sloppy tune!
Have a fabulous day xxx

Some advice for your first dance.....
If you are going to learn a routine don't leave it until 3 weeks before the big day!,
If your having a band make sure they can play your song at the sme tempo you have learned to dance to!
Mistakes my husband and I made when learning to foxtrot to Harry Connick Jnr "It had to be you" and which lead to our first marital dispute! But hey we look back and laugh.

We had Lonestar 'Amazed' the words are really beautiful. Or if you want to do something a bit different how about Barry White, 'First, Last, My Everything' you could do a bit of a dance routine with it, that would be good fun for you and your guests.

You can't beat Van Morrison for a romantic wedding 1st dance. We had 'someone like you' and my hubby whose a bit of a hard man, who didnt know which song I chose, cried on our first dance. Though whether it was tears of joy or saddness, who knows?!! Good luck Carrie xx

My husband and I got the inspiration for our first dance from our favourite film... High Fidelity. Jack Black sings 'Lets get it on' and we chose that because it was something different. Perhaps if you both have 'a film' you can be inspired by that like we were...?
On the other hand - one of the most memorable (and funniest) first dances I have seen is on You Tube (type in first dance baby got back and you'll see what I mean - if you haven't already!).
Good Luck either way

Hi Carrie.
Its a tough decision to make because for years afterwards people will always still ask what was your first dance.
For the lyrics it has to be 'From this moment' by Shania Twain. I'm sure it was written for this occassion
"...I give my hand to you with all my heart, I can't wait to live my life with you I can't wait to start...."
Good luck x

Hi Carrie
We had to decide between, Already There and Amazed by Lonestar for our first dance.
We choose Amazed in the end as Already There just reminded us of when Paul was in Iraq and made us emotional for other reasons and not for happy reasons.
Whatever you both decide it will be wonderful.
Just to be nosy just wandered if your having the full military bit, Paul got married in his mess kit looked great.
Good Luck both of you

We had Elvis and 'Can't help falling in love with you'. Also toyed with the idea of Thank you by Dido. Depending on your guests, we thought about going for something really off the wall like 'the Timewarp' or 'macarana' to try and get everybody up dancing, or Blurs Song2 to but didn't think it would go down so well with the older family members!
You could go for 'In the army now' - but I guess everybody has said that!

Hey Carrie,
I totally understand what its like trying to choose a song that you both want, it took my husband and I absolutley ages to decide but in the end we went for Rod Stewart "your in my heart". Hi Carrie,
Two options - the sloppy version is Savage Garden 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' which I love due to the film of the same title but it is unfortunately unrelated to the said film. Or alternatively David Bowie 'Space Oddity' - always a favourite with the Major Tom's lol!!
