Sport Relief Announcement

Post categories:

Comedy Dave | 11:54 UK time, Monday, 3 March 2008

Dear Readers,

So the big secret announcement is finally out in the open. This obviously pleases me as I’ve had to keep quiet for a while now, and regular listeners will know that I do at times have difficulty keeping quiet and not divulging classified information stored between my ears.

32 miles in a week for Sport Relief is the challenge that lies in front of me and Chopper. It sounds like a lot, and that’s because I think it probably is. Having never run close to this sort of distance on consecutive days before, it’s very much a journey into the unknown. Blisters, verucas, corns and sore legs await us as we attempt to put our bodies through the ultimate physical ordeal. Granted it’s not quite as punishing as swimming to Africa or whatever James Cracknell is doing, but it’s got to be close. Public humiliation and total failure is a very real possibility as me and Radio One’s very own Mr Happy attempt to plod our way across the UK.

If you think that we can actually do it, then why not donate some money to our totaliser here at Radio 1 ONLINE. Or if you think we’ll embarrass ourselves and everyone we know with a doomed attempt that ends in disappointment and plaster, why not donate some money in the very same way.

Don’t forget, donating money can help save the world a bit, and also makes you a nice person.

Thank you for reading my blogography.

Dave.

Fantastic effort, great idea although by this stage Chappers & Dave may have doubts... A bit late to add a comment I know but in case someone's reading:

I wish the option of donating online was pushed a bit more; some people might only donate by text, but lots of listeners would use a credit card online and probably do lots of shopping this way already.

The reason I say this is because by text, between 20p and 36p in the £ is taken by the phone operator - I reckon the rich guys got an extra £200,000 or so from the Rallyoake last year from raking this off everyone's texts.

Whereas if you're a UK taxpayer, then you can go online, choose the 'Giftaid' option and the taxman has to give back the tax on it - a £10 donation becomes £12.80 !

Looking forward to "Keep On Running", Spencer Davis Group, on Tedious Link ???

Well done Dave (and Chopper) 'tis a good thing you are doing - and I am sure you will do very well. I will check out the donating bit to add my little bit to your sack of gold that I am sure you will earn.
Luv ya. Pauline
