Chris Moyles
Howdy Blog fans. Chris Moyles here.

So we're a few days into this new 'blog' system and today is the day that I have to write mine. From now on every Friday will be Chris Moyles Bog day. Not the catchiest of titles but what do you expect. I am out of practice. For the past couple of years I have managed to get out of having to write a blog. Every so often I would have no choice but to sit down and write some rubbish for the website, but now, as each member of the team has been allocated with a specific day to write, there really is no getting out of it. Oh how I would enjoy sitting in our daily morning after show meeting as Aled would ask:
"Who's doing the blog today"
"CARRIE" I would say loudly.
"I did it yesterday." Screams Carrie.
"Erm Dominic then." I add.
"Hang on I did it on Monday." Would be Dom's reply.
I'd look around the room and try and find somebody, anybody other than me, who would have to write that day's blog.

But now it looks as though those days are over, and so today, Friday 25th July in the year of our Lord 2008, I find myself stood in my kitchen typing away badly on my laptop so that a handful of people can read what I have to say.

Which isn't that much as the day is only half way through really.

We did the radio show this morning, which is always fun on a Friday because we get to do The Golden Hour. Apart from making the show feel shorter than normal, I get to play lots of records that I really like, and if you're a regular listener, you'll know that doesn't happen often. After a very quick after show meeting it was a quick trip to Warner Brothers to watch a screening of the new Batman movie 'The Dark Knight' which is brilliant. It's an amazing perk of the job that we not only get to watch movies, for free, before they're released, but in our own private screening that is just for us. These kind of things really help when you're getting up at 5.20am five days a week.

Now I'm back home and writing this for you to read. Sophie is watering her plants (don't ask), then it's a quick phone call with an old mate of mine about somewhere we both used to work, and then, it's running time.

As part of my 'It's not too late to look and feel great for 2008' fitness campaign has hit a bad patch with no running from me since Sunday. So I'm off to get my ill fitting shorts on and go for a 5 mile run...Lord help me.

So have a great weekend and please join us back on air Monday morning from 6.30.
(No, really, please do join us, we can't afford to lose anymore listeners!)

I'm still listening and loving the show more than ever!

I think the blip is down to you being on holiday for two weeks - everyone I know just doesn't listen to Radio 1 in the mornings when you're not there!!!!

(Oh and I think you were hot playing the "guitar" in the video on Aled's blog yesterday...is that wrong?!?)

Great blog Chris......about as exciting to read as Dom's grass cutting....

I was hoping for tales of exotic times at the studio, but instead we got Sophie watering her plants. What a life!

Hey buddy, enjoy your run, in this heat you should loose a few pounds, then put it on again after a few beers and a curry later.

    Take care

    Saviour of Radio 1,

    Great blog.

Better than any Aled's ever done (thank God he doesn't have an allocated day...and hopefully he'll give in posting blogs randomly)

Loving the show, hope you find the 1/2 million listeners - if not, stuff them!! :)

    great blog chris.

how about a blog from your sophie once in a while ?

if you would allow it that is.

i agree with an earlier comment, it's possible the ratings are down, because you were away.

also, how can any ratings system be accurate when all they do is ask somebody to write down in a diary, what they listen to.

as you would say ' thats just rubbish '.

suggestion chris, how about doing the usual feed back bit where we all txt in with suggestions for new features for the show ?

take care chris, your still the savior of radio one.

Nice to hear what your up to.
Love the Golden Hour by the way! I think it should be on Monday as well, it could help start the week a bit better, for you and us!!
    Have a good one! R

Nice blog Chris, especially for a Friday afternoon!

I've been reading you're first book at the moment, nice to hear how you made it to Radio 1 and how Dave managed to take it off the air, I'd always wanted to know!

(God I sound like Carrie with all these exclamation marks. !!!!!)

Loving the show these days, especially the last few golden hours with some more recent classics. Bring back Just Ask Dom though, that was genius.
