My friends, episode six, we must bid farewell.

It has been a pleasure and thank you so much for watching and being interested. It means a hell of a lot. This profession is insecure breeding enough but putting a show out there with your name in the title, and playing 'yourself', was always going to be a risk, so I am grateful for anyone who stuck by it. Thank you.

As you will see in this episode I leave a little bit of a cliff hanger in terms of my story line with Gary (Tom Ellis). Here's hoping I get a chance to write more episodes and finish the story, but if I don't, it has been a real joy and experience to have done the one series. To get my own show on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ is literally a dream come true - I know - ah!

This episode all started with me walking down a ´óÏó´«Ã½ corridor fed up that I couldn't think of anything funny that day and then I had an image of Stevie walking in to the shop with a massive Great Dane saying 'sorry I'm late'. It amused me and I found a way to get it in. Hope you think it was worth it!

Time to say good bye. Good bye. Come on, no tears.Ìý

The first series of Miranda (the sitcom) finishes tonight at 8.30pm on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two. Read more from Miranda (the lady) about each episode here on the Comedy Blog.

Miranda Hart will be hosting a very silly round-up of the year this Christmas.

You have made me all sad with this "last one" talk - how am I supposed to enjoy the show tonight now?!

    Only joking.

Pretty pretty please come back for more laughs in the future. Such fun!

  • Comment number 2.

    Dear Miranda,

Thank you for six weeks of laughs and chuckles. Looking forward to wherever you turn up next.

    Dear ´óÏó´«Ã½,

Okay, so it's not earth-shattering, it's not massively worthy, and it's not ´óÏó´«Ã½Three material. Thank [insert your chosen deity here] for small mercies!

Please add this comment to the "more, please" pile.

  • Comment number 3.

I have really enjoyed the series. I very much hope there will be more.

  • Comment number 4.

Thank you so much, Miranda, for such a gentle yet laugh-out-loud series. It's one of the funniest things on TV at the moment.
There has to be another series as Miranda and Gary simply have to get together. And I need another fix of a great comedy.
More of the same, please and the series could run and run, even with Miranda and Gary together. Their wedding reception would be so funny and imagine what they'd be like married with children!
    Such fun.

  • Comment number 5.

Encore! Encore! - Repeats by the dozen...DVD etc.

But more than all these - a second series is mandatory...we are bereft, black armbands are already adorned and we have closed the curtains in respect.

Thank you for a fab 6 weeks of laughter - it's been an absolute joy.

  • Comment number 6.

Nooooo - it can't be over - I wait all week for your show and I usually hate sitcoms. Oh you are so so funny and I love the falling over (don't listen to the stuffy radio times) great timing, plus your relationship with Gary has the making of a real Ross and Rachel - I love it - it's the best romance on TV (I loved the violent cookery session). Please come back for more - who do we have to write to?
Thanks Miranda - you bought me (and all my girlfriends - we had Miranda nights) six weeks of serious aching sides.
    Happy Christmas :)

  • Comment number 7.

Brilliant series! It completely stands out from all the other comedy programmes on at the moment and was a real breathe of fresh air. Really enjoyed it!
I can't stand cliffhangers though so there has to be a second series!!! We have to see Miranda and Gary get together!
Thanks for the comedy, Miranda, it was worth all your efforts.

  • Comment number 8.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come back again! Monday nights wont be the same without you!

Its been such a great series- a comedy that laughs at things that havent really been laughed at in previous comedies. My favorite comedy, ever! The programs are so love-able, and will be very much missed by my mum and I.

All the best to all of the cast,
and thank you so much! :)

I have really enjoyed this series! Please let there be a 2nd series, it really is funny!

  • Comment number 11.

Just wanted to say a massive congratulations! Your series was the funniest thing I have seen since the days of the Vicar of Dibley. I even got my boyfriend into it and I have watched all the episodes again at least once on i player!

I really hope there's another series - really good cliffhanger.

take care and good luck for the future,
    sam

Rarely has a show been so perfectly calculated to be my favourite. I've enjoyed this series enormously. Congratulations!

  • Comment number 14.

Ended up watching on iPlayer again, but I did just catch the bit in the ´óÏó´«Ã½2 transmission where you were in the park and the camera angle made you look much shorter than Sarah. Very confusing until I saw the full episode! :-)

Please can we have another series?

PS you have a good chance of a gong at next years comedy awards, especially as the rival show 'Big Top' was dismissed as totally unfunny by Ted Robbins on his Radio Lancashire show last week.

  • Comment number 15.

    Dear ´óÏó´«Ã½ -

I enjoy many of the programmes that you put on the television. Especially Miranda. Miranda is a show that is funny on so many different levels and it really makes me sad to think it won't be on telly anymore. I would even be willing to protest and shun the ´óÏó´«Ã½ to get it back on the air. There are other great shows on the ´óÏó´«Ã½, but none that come close to the splendour that is Miranda. BRING IT BACK!

    Thanks,
S Rawlings (an American in Preston)

  • Comment number 16.

This last episode of Miranda was by far the best absolutely hilarious, my friends and I adore Miranda and we couldn't bare it if she went away forever. So bring her back for series 2 ´óÏó´«Ã½, please! it'll be such fun :)

  • Comment number 17.

    hi miranda

i am ashamed to say that i have just discovered your show.......i have not laughed so much in my life, everything about it was brilliant. i loved it so much that i went on iplayer last night and watched all 6 episodes!! i hope it won't be too long till we see you back on screen again, will definitely be keeping an eye out.

bbc....this is a show that must come back!!!!!!!!! i just love this type of laugh out loud comedy.

    thanks

What an absolute treat Miranda has been. The programme has made Monday's viewing worthwhile and we as a family are going to miss her company so much.
Please, please, PLEASE another series with the same fabulous characters and same tension between herself and Gary, although not quite letting them get it together..... yet.

  • Comment number 19.

My friend and I love Miranda!! I hope you come back for more series :)

  • Comment number 20.

    hi miranda

bear with. bear with. with. with. ok back.

Thanks for a great show, the funniest programme I've seen for a long long time. Please tell me there will be future episodes, and a dvd, and a chrsitmas special, and any other reason to air it all again.

You really are a very funny lady who deserves as many series as you can write.

  • Comment number 21.

thanks for a great show, loved it.....
hope your back with more series :)

  • Comment number 22.

This has been a show I have looked forward to every week. I've been checking with my friends that they're watching it too. Thank you for such laugh out loud fun comedy. Another series PLEASE!

    Such fun!

  • Comment number 23.

Although six episodes of most shows are more than enough, in this case, it is far too few. I loved every episode and will miss it. Please, please, please ´óÏó´«Ã½ let Miranda write some more.
It's been "such fun" watching each week I've sometimes watched the same episode twice.
    Happy Christmas.

  • Comment number 24.

I normally don't like comedy as broad and family friendly as this but I like it a lot. Someone has commented that the rival show is Big Top. Well there's no competition then.
If Miranda doesn't do another series at least we know we'll be seeing more of her. Hyperdrive was rubbish which was a great shame given the talent of Miranda and Nick Frost. This has secured her continued presence.
I see touches of Victoria Wood, Jennifer Saunders and Frankie Howard. More!

  • Comment number 25.

I loved this show so much mainly because i have 2 friends that if they were combined they would be you. I haven't laughed so much in such a long time. Please tell me your putting the show on dvd and that your going to come back. You are such a hoot and brillant writer.
    Tabitha

  • Comment number 26.

SUCH FUN!! What a series that was! I have literally laughed til the tears rolled down my face. Please please may there be (what I call)a series 2.

  • Comment number 27.

Love it! Fingers crossed for season 2!

  • Comment number 28.

This has been one of the best comedy series on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ -- Miranda you are so amazingly funny - love settling down for 30 minutes to watch this -- Gary and Miranda must get it together, there just must be another series -- this is BRILLIANT!

  • Comment number 29.

I have enjoyed watching this series so much...you cannot say good bye now! I laughed, laughed and laughed again. I very much look forward to series 2, 3, 4...

What a refreshing story and characters! 6 episodes are simply not enough.

Please ´óÏó´«Ã½, I'm imploring you! Please recommission the series!

So Miranda, thank you so much for giving us so much joy in so little time. I will be holding my breath until next time. This is not farewell but simply good bye!

  • Comment number 30.

    Hi Miranda
How could you do this to us!!! Don't let Gary go! Don't leave us this way!! Over and over I watch on iPlayer just thinking maybe THIS time . . . And WHY might I ask is there no Christmas special?!?!?! I don't know if I should admit this on a blog comment, but a group of us (all girls and my best friend's husband who is also a huge fan) get together to watch on a Monday night! I admit it, we're all a bit weird, but still, what are we going to watch now?!?!! Funniest thing in a long time, so thank you for giving us some very much needed cheering up!
Seriously though, you have to have a second (third, fourth . . . ??) series, they have to be more than 6 episodes long and you have to keep the entire cast! Brilliant, just brilliant! If the ´óÏó´«Ã½ don't recomission this then I'm getting rid of my TV!!! Hurry back! Please!!
A be in tow! (they won't allow me to post in French so this will have to do!)
    Happy Christmas!!!

  • Comment number 31.

    Hi there Miranda

You have no idea just how devastated I am that your sitcom has finished. I truly loved it sooooooooooooooo much. I really wish there had been a christmas special to look forward to. You are a brilliant writer and comic. I can't remember when I have laughed so much. I have watched all six episodes several times and continue to laugh out loud. Congratulations on getting the go ahead for a second series. I can't wait until the end of 2010 though!!! Do you think you could maybe write and Easter special gto keep all your avid fans going. Thank you please very much!

    Regards Nell

ps All the family keep saying "Such fun." Have a great Christmas. Look forward to seeing your new series.

  • Comment number 32.

Miranda! Thank you so much for the series - I haven't laughed so much since watching episodes of Dad's Army and Open All Hours. My sister and I are completely hooked and we've even started to quote lines from episodes to each other without realising it, which is a sure sign of a good comedy if ever there was one.... The mad hilarity of the story lines and quality of acting have been a pure joy to watch and we're really delighted to hear you've been given a second series. Can't wait; such fun!

  • Comment number 33.

What an absolute delight this show has been. I hope the ´óÏó´«Ã½ realise what a talent they have in Miranda Hart. Hopefully the first series will be repeated before the second series airs, I think this has the potential to be a very very big hit.

Great writing, brilliant cast, laugh out loud funny and the best asides to camera I've seen since Frankie Howard at his best.

  • Comment number 34.

If there is any justice in this world there will be a 2nd series!
Thanks for bringing the magic back to sitcom Miranda & for brightening our Monday nights.
I haven't laughed so much since Alan Partridge lived in the Linton Travel Tavern. (I particularly loved you trying to climb into the trouser press, hilarious!)
I think there will be a comedy award with your name on it next year. You are a breathe of fresh air xxx
Merry Christmas Miranda & all the best for 2010 - here's hoping for a new year dvd!!

  • Comment number 35.

So happy that there is to be a new series!
I laugh out loud every week.
    Brilliant - keep it up!

  • Comment number 36.

Excuse me you can't end it like that! You must come back and get with Gary!! You're actually like totally my best friend so please please get on with series 2 asap!! xX

  • Comment number 37.

This has been the best "funny show" I have seen in ages on the Beeb, Please please please, make more. Its so good I have re-whtched them over and over again and still lol. You must make more! xxxx

  • Comment number 38.

The longer the series went on the more I enjoyed it. Thrilled to read that it has been commissioned for Series 2. Loved it! Thank you.

  • Comment number 39.

Oh please, say it isn't so....have been scouring the schedules for this week's Miranda show to no avail (normally watch it on iplayer)
    Yes, I'm female
    Yes, I'm in my fifties
    yes, I'm heterosexual
but, yes, I'm in love with Miranda. No other comedy has quite that zany, beautifully timed and acted, original, anti celebrity, anti stereotypical old fashioned slapstick humour......MORE PLEASE

  • Comment number 40.

I absolutely loved the first series of this show and I can't wait for series 2!

Any chance that Lee Mack might make a guest appearance soon? I think that would be great and a nice nod to Not Going Out, particularly if the joke was about her being a cleaner...!

  • Comment number 41.

"Miranda" was one of the funniest things I have seen on the telly for a long time! Great self-deprecating humour, and a good show to watch with the young'uns! Was truly touched by the last episode especially when she messed up her declaration of love! So glad to hear another series is on its way- yeh! Such Fun!! Miranda- you definitely have The Allure!! See you soon! x

  • Comment number 42.

I specifically registered so I could post a comment on Miranda. This is the first time I have ever commented about a TV programme. It is one of the funniest, brilliantly original pieces of comedy the ´óÏó´«Ã½ has put on for years. Please can we have more of this and more original comics commissioned who don't rely on swearing or cruelty for humour. This has been a real ray of sunshine. Well done ´óÏó´«Ã½, and Miranda Hart - you deserve a medal. Thank you.

  • Comment number 43.

Just the same as no. 42, I've registered just so I can say that this is by far the funniest comedy programme since the first run of Absolutely Fabulous - maybe I've enjoyed it even more than that. Miranda has taught me once again how funny people falling over can be! It's original without being self-consciously wacky, clever without being smug and above all instead of that rubbishy "edginess" it has warmth aplenty. A joyous experience - I thought comedy like this was gone for good.

    THANK YOU Miranda!!!

  • Comment number 45.

i think they should bring out a box set of Miranda, it would be amazing! thankyou for all your shows:) xx

  • Comment number 46.

Fantastic news. The ´óÏó´«Ã½ have seen sense by recommissioning Miranda and (eventually) Not Going Out. Now make it a hat-trick by bringing back the brilliant 'Pulling' ...

  • Comment number 47.

Miranda, you have provided me with so many nights of 'what I call' uncontrollable tears of laughter, many bruises (from falling off the couch with laughter) and lots of girly nights in with my pals! Ecstatic about the new series, Monday may become bearable again! Looking forward to many more awkward social situations with you and the cast! Such Fun!

  • Comment number 48.

Travelling in the UK for a few weeks this summer, I caught a few episodes, and was so disappointed to find that there was no way to share your show with my friends back home in the US. Best show I've seen in years. I hope it comes over the pond sometime in the near future!
