Pretty much agree with #2. I have nothing to add other than my backing for the sentiment in tomefccam's post.

I wonder if him and Damon Albarn get on these days...
I still enjoy many of the songs that came out of that era, it's easy to get nostalgic about what you were up to back then.

What would be your cake of choice when you've got the problem of needing to get something down your gullet in double quick time without risking indigestion, and crumbs down your shirt? I will give him credit for one thing. He hates Manyoo, so he can't be all bad.

He's never been the sharpest tool in the box, thats why his brother kept him away from as many interviews as possible .... his football opinions are typical of bitter City fans. Not really an eloquent exponent of the beautiful game is he ? Was it really worth an interview ?

Whether you like Liam or not, at least he isn't bland. Oasis did capture something in the 90's, if only a Uk reaction to the American bands of the time (Nirvana etc) that were clearly better. That said, I saw Oasis a few times and enjoyed it. It was Liam that told me that Sparky was joining Chelsea in the summer of '95!

Still, he likes football and has been a Man City fan a long time. I just wonder if they will slip up for 4th. The best thing they have going for them is that Spurs have a harder run in.

I like watching and listening to interviews with Liam. Both he and Noel have a good sense of humour which always makes for memorable and often very entertaining interviews.

I appreciate that some people will always think of Liam as a hooligan, but I like the fact that he's genuine - he says what he thinks and does what he wants, not what some PR man thinks would be good for his image.

Surprised to see my comment removed considering it was a expletive free opinion. Afterall, the interview with Gallagher is just canvassing his opinions on everything so I can't see why it's one rule for him to release opinions of individuals into the public domain via the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and another for me to do so.

My original post will follow this:

I find Liam to be a curious fellow- he clearly has fraternal and inferiority issues which manifest themselves in an aggressive fashion. Some of his comments would suggest his suffers from delusional paranoia as well as a multitude of other mental issues.

Either that or he’s just a tool.

Love or hate him he does talk some sense. And despite clearly hating Man Utd he at least has the decency and honesty to admit that they deserve their success and have a quality manager.
I think, although he wouldn't admit it, its all quite tongue in cheek. He just plays up to the character he has created for himself.

On another note i saw Beady Eye on Monday and they are much more of a Beatles rip off than Oasis ever were! They still put on a good show though

Never did like Oasis' lumpen prole 3 chord dull repetitive racket, but give Liam his due - I bet no-one thought he'd be capable of running a band without Noel, although it has to be said that "Millionnaire" is the biggest Beatles rip off since....Oasis! Ironic that he does the interview in the Hard Day's Night hotel.
As for his footy opinions, they're no more relevant than yours or mine, but at least he gives somewhat unexpected credit to Fergie and his team. Citeh will scrape 4th btw, and lose to Stoke in the Cup Final.

well, the fact he's a city fan doesn't bother me, its the fact people look up to him that does. did we really need his footballing opinion? which lets face it, is one of a bitter city fan who's all about 'proper from the roots' football but somehow, like most city fans, forgets about the cash injection from a middle eastern prince who thinks oasis are a 5 piece girlband. top.

Good interview Dan. Interviewing any star must be pretty intimidating, but especially someone like Liam who is bullish to say the least. But you handled it well in my opinion.
One of good mates is called Sebastian. I asked him if he was offended by Rooney's celebration against West Ham. He said 'yes, terribly'! So I guess Liam's got it spot on. Especially his thoughts on Gary Neville : )

Great Interview. Always loved Liam, Oasis and there couldnt give a damn attitude, so refreshing to as someone said the boring Mr Martin. Cant understand people who say Oasis are a Beatles rip off. When by both Liam & Noels admission they aways said if you wanna be the best copy the best. Best advice you can offer in my opinion. tomeffccam , i would say Oasis did pretty well in America , they played Radio City Music all and Madison Square Gardens amongst many other illustrious venues and i severely doubt the lyrics you criticised hindered them at all . Noel has explained most of the lyrics you referenced anyway . Lets face it most bands would kill for Oasis' career .

Nobody wants to bring up the fixture which has become the shame and humiliation of British football. Obviously a good proportion of both sets of fans would like to enjoy the game peacefully, and my heart goes out to them, but it's the pointless bigotry, violence and hatred which are seen by the world.

Hope they can resolve the conflict, but I won't hold my breath.

People make noises about sorting it out but underneath they know that the games become nothing without it.

I must say, the Scottish plan to make their game better made me laugh as well. How on earth they expect to be able to reach some of the stated objectives is beyond me.

"the shame and humiliation of British football" you will see more violence at a Birmingham V Villa game and thats not even going into other rivalries such as the Manchester derby or Hearts v Hibs..

The supposed 'shame game' consisted of a couple of sendings off and a manager and a coach being separated at full time because of an argument..again blown out of proportion because one of these guys was Neil Lennon.

I go to all the games and have been to Ibrox, Celtic Park and Hampden for the past 10 years and I have witnessed no violence. I am sure the same cant be said about other rivalries.

Getting back to my point it is a bank holiday weekend and the last derby of the season is about to be played which could go a long way in deciding where the Scottish title ends.. and its not even a topic mentioned no matter what has happened outside of the football side of it.

It puzzles me why people get so worked up about Oasis' ripping off the Beatles and their lyrics appearing to make no sense.

I love the Beatles and love Oasis probably BECAUSE they try to rip them off. No one has a go at Eric Clapton for ripping off the blues, i.e. Crossroads and Crossroad Blues by Robert Johnson.

The Beatles themselves admitted to ripping off American black music. The only difference I can see is that Oasis, particularly Noel, has always been upfront about his references.

Having a go at lyrics - what's that all about? - since when did all lyrics have to have meaning? What does 'I am the Walrus' mean or 'Stairway to Heaven'? - who cares, really, they are just great songs.

Mikey, I wouldn't disagree with you. The bigotry and violence in any rivalry is something to rue. The situation in Glasgow however is unique in that the divide is a political and religious one too, which makes it headline news.

Brilliant interview Dan. I think your interviews are generally good anyway, but you can't really go wrong with Liam Gallagher, he's always amusing and always comes out with great statements.

Take it you havent heard much by The Doors, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Blur, Stone Roses. You could analyze any of them bands lyrics, and come to the conclusion that what they are singing about is never revealed!

The last derby of the season between Rangers and Celtic ALWAYS has a huge bearing on where the title ends up. That's the problem. The repetitiveness of the fixture and the familiarity of the situation means it is not really very newsworthy.

Nor by the way is an interview with Liam Gallagher. This should be a football blog featuring football people not a free publicity opportunity for a flawed celebrity.

I love all these comments aimed at Oasis' ability to 'rip off The Beatles' and to only have 'Three Chords'. Oasis took the 90's by the scruff of the neck and made it they're own. When music was terrible. Granted, some of the songs in recent times are very Beatles based, clearly seen on Beady Eye's new record. However, songs like 'Live Forever' 'Wonderwall' and 'Supersonic' 'Slide Away' can not really be classed as the 'Beatles back catalogue' these titles alone are some of the best popular songs this country has ever produced. Oasis, never claim to be totally unique, but they are unique in they're attitude, in the 90's it was their swagger and confidence that propelled through they're music. For that reason it is an insult to call them the 'Status Quo of the 90's' real music fans know that Oasis as a band were as tight and well drilled as any other band thats ever been around.

Liam Gallagher is the equivalent of Marmite and for me he falls into the category of 'love it'.

His interviews are always entertaining and the one's who find him irritating and offensive are the people who were offended by Rooney's verbal attack on the camera a few weeks ago, (a.k.a sebastien's).

As a red (manc) I surprisingly found myself chuckling at his comment on Gary Neville "Gary Neville looks like an Estate Agent".

The guy isn't very eloquent but he gets his point across in a very entertaining way and I thought his comments about the Rooney situation were spot on!

I find myself in partial agreement with Liam regarding Rooney's camera celebration. Sure, I believe all men should "put away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth" so I'm not saying Rouney's rant was good, even after scoring a hatrick a man distinguishes himself from a boy by his self control;but I do think the response from the FA was more foolish than the orginal action it tried to address.
Had to laugh at his comments about bobbins, estate agent Neville, shirts tucked in and so on.
I agree with prophet_Sam about staying away from sectarian rivalry. Let news reporters give them air-time, rest can stick to footie.

Funny how Oasis parrallel the team they support. In the big league in 1994-1996 then discovered they no longer had what it took to be the best.

Attempted to get back into the big time in the early noughties before falling into obscurity through the middle of the decade.

Turned their back on their original home to live somewhere new and different.

Lost their identity and credibility around 2008 and no longer resemble what they once where.

They also both have a fan base who spend too much time talking about the greatness from a bygone era of "What's the story morning glory" and "Colin Bell".
