Whack-a-cake for Pudsey!
Some 600 children from across Birmingham had entered a competition to design a video game. With the help of the schools involved this was whittled down to a manageable number who were invited pitch in a Dragon's Den stylee to some real web developers.
Developers currently involved in thebased in Birmingham. The idea of the Accelerator is to fund various digital ideas and help mentor and develop them and their ideas before they appear before groups of potential investors. In fact the process the kids went through was a junior version of what these young companies will soon be doing. Standing up in front of potential investors and pitching them their idea.
Once the winner was chosen the team had just 48 hours to turn the idea into a finished game with all profits going to Children in Need. It was a scramble but they made it and "Whack A Cake" was born. In the end a combination of two different ideas pitched by the children. You can read more about the game on their where you'll also find links to buy the game for a variety of formats.
Apple users though will have to wait for a week or so as it takes longer to clear games for sale on their app store.
