Dales folk festival punches well above it's weight
...I've long held that small is both beautiful and more interesting (think of it: , , Mussolini). One of the best small festivals is . Ingleton, on the edge of the , suffered really badly under and, as part of the regeneration that went on after that disaster, it hosted its own folk festival.Ìý It was only supposed to be a one-off event, but it proved so popular that it's gone on ever since.
Like all great festivals the pubs are the core of the weekend with great (and free) music coming out of every bar and orifice. The main concerts this year, feature my guests on this week's programme Bob Fox and Stu Luckley on Friday 3 October as part of their 30th anniversary tour of 'Nowt so Good'll Pass' Melody Maker's Folk Album of the Year 1978; on Saturday 4October The Band will take to the stage - both those concerts, I can tell you, will be terrific.
As if all that weren't enough there is "Our world famous Comic Song Competition" on Sunday 5 October at 1.00pm at the Old Hill Inn Chapel-le-Dale, sponsored by Mason's Dog Oil.
And that is one you must not miss. Organiser Chris Bonsall, who is in a Leonard Cohen/Krankies tribute band will be overseeing everything and will also be judging this years Grated Cheese

Great way to cheaply add spice to your show. 90% of your listeners won't be able to tell the difference to something recorded using an expensive Outside Broadcast van. Besides, the FM compression and the relatively low bit rate on DAB mess things on Radio 2 up a bit anyway.
