Philosophy In Pubs
I thought people based in and around Liverpool would be interested to know that there is a group of people who meet regularly to discuss philosophical ideas.
I've taken the liberty of copying a little bit of information from their 'statement'.
'The PIP's are a group of like-minded people searching for philosophical stimulation in a relaxed atmosphere (i.e. pubs, bistros, coffee shops, bookstores & community centres).
Currently the venues are in the Liverpool area and are run on a weekly or monthly basis.'
The next meeting is on 29th August at Suzanna's Wine Bar in Waterloo, Liverpool.
Visit the site for further info.
how about bringing the pubs to the net?
Great idea, shame it's not around the country and only one city. Perhaps more people will join up, across the land? Like the South West, hint hint.
If you aint near le pub, try this kids
note, it has an online forum ;)
Pub crawlers may find something to philosophise about in a discussion initiated by you, Esther, on your sister site: FreeThinkingUK
I help run Philosophy In Pubs in Liverpool. Liverpool has more philosophy groups than any other city in the country and the group celebrates its 5 year anniversary this year.
We would welcome and support any groups who want to extend Philosophy In Pubs nationwide. Only this week a group from Worcester with similar aims to PIPs have been added to our website.

Yes, 'Philosophy In Pubs' is an excellent concept.
I have had the pleasure of sitting in on two of their meetings through my involvement with the TenantSpin organisation. We hosted a show for them at the FACT centre where it was webcast and thoroughly enjoyable.
Greetings to the group.
