Friction Introducing - Raghu Dixit

Bobby Friction | 20:48 UK time, Tuesday, 28 October 2008

This weeks Friction Introducing hails from Bangalore in India and is - as far as I know - the first South Indian Rock/Folk artist who sings in Kanada (the language of the state of Karnataka).

For many of us he's like Sufi Rocker 'Rabbi' if he'd been born at the other end of the country. Like his northern counterpart Raghu takes ancient Indian texts/poems and fires them into the heart of the 21st Century by adding his folk/rock influences as well as a passion that's easy to see in his blissed out face.

I'd like to know if you think we've gone too far out of the box for this weeks introducing - or is talent like this needed in these electronically processed times?

Check his video for 'Hey Bhagwan' here:-
