Funding blow to former Parliament building

Graham Smith | 13:51 UK time, Friday, 8 October 2010

The Heritage Lottery Fund has refused a £360,000 grant application for the Old Duchy Palace at Lostwithiel. The former Stannary parliament building, which for more than 100 years served as a masonic lodge, was to have been turned into a function room, offices and information area. The Cornwall Buildings Preservation Trust and the Prince's Regeneration Trust are now considering other ways to secure the future of the Grade One listed building.

This building would be perfect as a drop-in for the homeless. I wonder why the N.L.F. refused the £360,0000?

Never mind "Gaz", perhaps we could have a whip-round on Sunday, if we all put in 10 bob each, we'll raise the money in no time. Even you should be able to afford that.
    See you Sunday.

I have big doubts that gaz knows anything at all about this matter at all there were build 3 parliament places of the same size and design one was in london one in aquitaine and one in cornwall in the time of the plantagenets all for the same needs and reasons the one in london is now part of the houses of parliament I have been to the owain glyndwr parliament in Machynlleth Wales and in real terms the one in cornwall is more important power resided in the building for much longer some 800yrs.round about hidden from public use for 100yrs. to hide its former use no wonder they wish for the building to fall down where is the pride children in cornwall should be on visits to see the history of this symbol of who we are no one but the cult of the free masons have been allowed near. Who we are has been hidden

They don't charge for punctuation here. It's all free.

The moderation team seem to be very sensitive about defending Alan’s honour, All I said was his written English is much in need of improvement, but we all knew that anyway

  • Comment number 8.

All we need to do is educate Alan as to the differnace between a Stannary parliament building and National parliament, he seems to be struggling telling the difference or it could just be he makes stuff in the hope others will correct him, so he learns something?
