DJ Drama

Woke up to this 4 times in my inbox:
"A metro law enforcement task force raided the recording studio of DJ Drama and the Aphiliates Tuesday night. Investigators say they confiscated tens of thousands of bootleg cd's made for sale on the Internet.

Of the 17 arrested, the two targeted were DJ Drama and DJ Don Cannon, the two co-founders of the The Aphilliates and Gangsta Grillz mixtape series.

Police raided their spot around 8:30 and confiscated close to 50,000 CDs, computers, recording equipment, bank statements and even their cars."

Arresting 2 very prominent figures in the movemnet of 'Down South' Hip-Hop will only cause a backlash. The Police have to understand how artists are promoted in the Hip-Hop industry. The mixtape scene breaks and gives artists that extra promotion.

DJ Drama and Don Cannon weren't copying a Britney Spears CD's and selling it for a few dollers!.

It just seems like another false representation of what people affilated with Hip-Hop must be doing 'breaking the law'.

The REAL mixtape market has been dead for years anyway, replaced by no-skills-having buttonpushers and those who push hype over skills...

Would I miss DJ Drama were he to never make another tape? Not really.

    I'm very grouchy...
