Meet Esmee Denters
A couple of weeks ago, I announced on here that Justin Timberlake has started a new record label called "Tennman Records" with Eminem, 50 Cent & Dr Dre's boss and head honcho of Interscope Records Jimmy Iovine. Well Justin's just signed his first artist: Internet phenomenon and singer/songwriter Esmee Denters. Who? Well, she's 18, from Holland and up until 9 months ago, wasn't singing. She decided to start doing little videos on her webcam of her covering various songs from artists such as Beyonce, Alanis Morissette and others. Here's her last YouTube post:

i crossed her on youtube a few months ago and was fleshed. first clip was her singing musiq's "just friends" and that was really stunning!! i just hope she doesnt become a next rihanna or something like that...songs from alicia keys, musiq, floetry really fit her...
Shes absoulutely amazing! And really hope she can maintain her cool composure and not get caught up in the hype... I still miss aaliyah and she kinda reminds me of her.
She is hot...that is all that matters. Alright, Alright...she can sing...
I think she's talented. I heard her singing 'dance with my father' on youtube and it gave me chills. I just hope that she doesn't let people bully her into making pop music. This girl has a great voice and I just hope that her material will reflet that.
honestly shes sh*t lol ive heard her sing on youtube stuff like beyonce - listen and she sounded like a dead cat i just think shes on of them artists like naila boss,teira marie who bit of more than they can chew shes just gonna be 1 hit wonder like the rest of them

yea shes good, but jus fink anyone could do this, i mean i cud sing this!. shes gotta stand out abit more, she hasnt reallygot her own style but she deffinately got her own unique voice. bless xx

All she does is short notes on this video. If she can hold a really long note with nice vibrato, then she's good. I can tell you right now, though, that she's no Christina Aguilera, or Jenna G. Both of those ladies got skills way beyond this girl.
shes got a pretty good voice and that but i don't think she's outstanding, nice to look at though! If i was managing her i'd put her in a group -not a cheesy pop group- Don't think she'd last long solo no matter how much justin guests on her tracks or how many of them Timbaland produces!

I think there are ALOT of gurls out there just like her, i think its just being in the right place at the right time got her that deal..she can sing, but she aint GREAAAT...

The girl can sing, but she has to stick to soulish music and not trying to take her voice over the top like Maria or Witney - just mellow and easy songs

shes got a good voice but i dont think shes going to stand out in the music industry especially with the people out there at the moment. nelly furtado, fergie and rihanna all has distinctive and different sounds. esmee sounds a bit bubble gum and similar to alot of other people. she'll need an amazing first single to help her break out but i'm sure she'll do fine with justin backing her, and i'm sure timbaland will be there to help her along the way

this girl can sing no doubt ...1 big problem, when she speaks in english its distorted and it doesnt sound too lfuent, she sounds like a foreigner....however when she sings songs, as she imitates the artist, she pronounces the words as the artist already has done, eg a london twang, eg an irish twang, so whats gonna be her own twang?
i hope she does really well becos she can sing, but i think that unless sum1 sings for her in birtish she could be stuck.......no unique style
anybody could be a star when you have timbaland producing beats and timberlake to appear in videos, once uve started ur set......the artists just keep appearing......im sure i cud lay a track down wit timberlake and it be a no1 simply becossa him!
but all the best to esmee, not a unique voice, but sweet sounding to go with a sweet face, she has that sweetness about her that not many females have these days....u wanna hold the gurl and cuddle her!
she has a beautiful voice...bt people will definately compare her to jojo.....she sounds similar. but she has a great voice
she can sing and she's got credibillity over the internet, she will be easy to market and so money wise, for Justin, he has added an asset to his empire..
Esmee Denters has a pretty and melodic voice and uses melisma very well. However, I cannot help but notice that she avoids the high and belted notes on every song she sings, which is a big disappointment.
Esmee stands out from the YouTube crowd because she can hold a tune and has good control of her voice -- very few of the YouTube bunch can equal that. But in a forum where the standards are so low, that's not much.
Pit Esmee against the thousands of girls who send out demo tapes to record labels and I doubt she would stand out from the pack. Her range is very limited, which leaves her to depend on her vocal stylings, which are unoriginal (lifted, perhaps, directly from Beyonce?).
Esmee is cute and of-the-moment. She can hold a tune and sound lovely doing it. Ultimately, however, I find her very ordinary...and very lucky to have found an outlet like YouTube to give her an edge she might not otherwise have had. There's no singing legend hiding in Esmee Denters.
