Mrs Duffy's postal vote

Michael Crick | 16:20 UK time, Wednesday, 28 April 2010

No doubt Mrs Duffy will emerge from her home in a few minutes time and tell us that she's still not voting Labour.

"And what's more," she'll say, "the postal ballot on my mantelpiece has just disappeared."

Just joking Gordon.

Am I a bigoted parliamentary candidate?

I was born in Uganda, yet I am campaigning to tackle the causes of asylum (arms trade, poverty and civil wars etc) as a long term solution to the problem. Mr Brown has today called Mr Duffy a "bigoted" woman for questioning Labour's immigration policy based on the so-called point-system. If so, like Mrs Duffy, I must be bigoted too. I very much suspect many people in Ealing and Acton will think differently on 6th May

We all make mistakes - even party leaders. But what really gets me about today's gaff by Brown is how "holier than thou" he and others in Labour are when anyone else says anything un-PC. Remember that Tory front-bencher a couple of weeks ago who expressed his personal views on gays being allowed to share a bed in guest houses? Whether or not you agree with his views is another matter, but it's amazing how the Tories were bigots then, but he can carry on like he did today. Talk about double standards!

A NICE POINT WELL MADE (#2)

Bigotry can be as prevalent in the 'offended' as the offender.

I still treasure the ethnic guy on radio - years back - who said vehemently: "intolerance will not be tolerated".

For once, I am erring on feeling this is getting beyond a joke.

    A very, bad, joke.

actually felt sorry for Brown and then my brain engaged and thought of all the needless deaths in Iraq, the 10p fiasco, the expenses mess and his hypocrisy to that good woman, a woman of true Labour values who was slagged off for saying what nine out of ten people are saying on the doorstep. I will still vote Labour but if this is the death of the Nu part roll on and wash the filth away....
