As soon as a I first saw a small model of the children's TV character Igglepiggle I was astonished by his remarkable resemblance to David Cameron. The eyes, the mouth, the hair... even, in a way, the colour.


My three-year old daughter, Isabel, will no doubt be devastated this evening when she learns that the series in which Iggle Piggle appears, .

Was this wise? One wag suggested to me this afternoon that the ´óÏó´«Ã½ has simply caved in to pressure from Downing Street.

A senior government source told Newsnight:

"I think the right response to this is 'No Comment', but as any good journo knows, sometimes you just have to follow your instincts."

    MIGHT THE PROBLEM BE THE COMFORT BLANKET?

    What do we really know of Dave except that he is 'ANOTHER ONE' i.e. an endlessly needy child looking for status and approval. I wonder if the comfort blanket is RED? Aaaaaagggghhhhhh!

    Hang on, could this be the most serious evidence yet of left-biased ´óÏó´«Ã½? Ed Miliband IS Makka Pakka! Look at the tired circles around the eyes, and the micro-quiff...

    Well, a wife or girlfriend is certainly a possibly more credible source than those usually quoted.

    Was this viewed as a recent influence, or could the reference have been to a previous administration?

    Silly me, of course not. In some quarters cuts can only originate from one place. Even if it had... Mum's the word, eh?

    Now, may we look forward to how much various characters can be used to describe other pols? Or maybe we don't go there?

    My guiding rule is that in any story there's usually something the politicians would prefer the world not to know. My job is to find that out
