_38514083_enniskillen238.jpgThis Sunday, I'll be presenting a special edition of Sunday Sequence live from Enniskillen, marking the 20th anniversary of the . I'll be joined by local people who were present on 8 November 1987 when twelve people lost their lives, and by those who have worked hard to help Fermanagh's county town move forward beyond what was an appalling atrocity. The programme begins at 8.30am and we're followed at 10.30 by the Solemn Ceremony of Remembrance from the Cenotaph in Whitehall.

Lying in a graveyard on the island of Jersey are fallen comrades of the Second World War. One particular headstone marks the final resting place of a young U.S. Airman. His epitaph is written;

鈥淗e gave his life that others might live.鈥

These words could have been written on the stone of a tomb, situated in a garden in the city of Jerusalem, almost two thousand years ago. The greatest battle had just been fought and the greatest victory had just been won 鈥 not in the trenches of Europe, or in the deserts of Africa, or in the jungles of Borneo but on a cross on a hill outside the city walls of Jerusalem.

For six lonely hours upon the cross God鈥檚 one and only Son fought for the souls of those held captive by sin and Satan. Freedom for you and me from the bondage of our sin was obtained on our behalf by, the only One who could meet our need 鈥 Jesus Christ, our substitute and Saviour.

鈥淭he Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.鈥
(Isaiah 53 v 6)

The Apostle Paul has written in the ancient manuscript of Holy Scripture;
鈥淭he Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.鈥
(Galatians 2 v 20)

What a price was paid in order that you and I might be forgiven! Because of His love for us He paid the ultimate sacrifice 鈥 He gave His life鈥檚 blood on Calvary. Words cannot express the intense suffering He endured, that we, His enemies, might be reconciled forever. As the battle came to an end, the Saviour cried in victory three words that reverberated in heaven, earth and hell.

鈥淚t is finished.鈥
(John 19 v 30)

The greatest victory ever won was won at the Cross! The work of salvation is eternally finished. The Saviour who died was buried in a tomb in a garden in Jerusalem, but on the third day He rose again triumphantly from the dead. God who is completely satisfied with the sacrifice of His Son on our behalf is offering you peace and freedom and reconciliation.

鈥淐hrist died for our sins according to the scriptures; and he was buried, and He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.鈥
(1st Corinthians 15 Vs 3&4)

Do you want freedom from a guilty past?

Do you want freedom from the bondage of your sin?
Do you want freedom from the fear of death?

Are you not tired fighting against God? Why not today surrender your all to Christ and declare the war is over.

鈥淏elieve on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.鈥
(Acts 16 v 31)

Peace, Pardon and Freedom can be yours today!

The choice is yours and yours alone!!
