Good news story of the weekend

Post categories:

William Crawley | 13:19 UK time, Saturday, 8 November 2008

Here's from Bristol. The story of the former drugs-user who stole boxes of cigarettes from a corner shop in 2001 then, after a change of heart, decided to apologise to the owners and pay back the value of the stolen goods. The reaction of the shop owners is just as impressive.

Maybe the drug dealer returned them because he was afraid if he smoked them himself he'd die of lung cancer or emphysema :-)

Or, Marcus, maybe he was being genuine.

Why don't you let that risky thought tumble around in you mind for a while?

peter, maybe he grabbed them so quickly he didn't notice they weren't his brand. Why don't you get a sense of humor? Do you believe everything your read?

    Yes Marcus,

Humour is difficult to pick up in writing, I've had the same problem.

    Apologies.

    I'm quite shocked,

Does it really take a title from the ´óÏó´«Ã½ (considering its been through enough scrutiny lately) such as "Good News Story of the Weekend" for people to bicker about its truthfulness. Either way, it seems we can never win. People being too harsh to one another, people not being kind enough.

A quote from the full story:

"At that time I was heavily using drugs and my life was in a mess, now I no longer use drugs and I strive to lead a decent and honest life..."

I'm with petermorrow on both accounts; well said. Lets have more genuine good news in the world please; moreover, let us believe it (no puns or humor, just the truth). Peace out :)
