David Tennant to play builder with brain injury

In a 90-minute drama for the ´óÏó´«Ã½, likely to be screened in the Autumn, new Doctor Who David Tennant will play Alan, a building site manager learning to cope with brain injury after a car crash.
Written by Tony Marchant, the drama will examine issues of identity and the care afforded to people who suffer brain injuries.

This dramatisation of the issues facing those who have acquired such injuries comes 13 years after the ´óÏó´«Ã½ took a very different approach. The comedy series If You See God, Tell Him, broadcast in 1993, enters the life of Godfrey Spry, who - having been struck on the head by a plummeting wheelbarrow full of rubble - is largely immobile and has an attention span of only 30 seconds. As a result, he obsesses over TV commercials because they represent one of the few things that he can follow from beginning to end, and starts to believe everything the advertisers claim. Clever comment alert: If David tennant takes the same approach to the acting as Richard Briars did, we can expect him to be Doctor Who Where What and Why in the next series. Arf. Not funny, I know. I'm self aware.
Blimey! I remember that See God Tell Him programme. I thought it was really funny at the time. Does that make me really un-PC and horrible? Wasn't it written by the same fella who wrote One Foot in the Grave?
Being a bit of an anorak, as the name implies, I'd just like to mention David Tennant's disability connections, as he appeared in the ´óÏó´«Ã½ series set in a psychiatric ward, 'Taking Over The Asylum', a few years back.
