Budget 2009 and disability

In case you missed it amidst all the the detail in today's by the Chancellor, Alistair Darling, the main news that will affect disabled people seems to be that child trust funds for disabled children are to rise by £100 a year - or £200 a year for severely disabled children.

    The two-tier rate is divisive and wrong. It also won't help the family meet the added costs of bringing up a Disabled child as the child grows up.

    And STILL no Winter Fuel Allowance for the rest of us!

    I think the highest rate breaks down to approx. 55p a day. Enough to buy a Mars bar. After 18 years a couple of grand will not have significant impact for very long.
