OK so it doesn't work. But it will!
Ah, another classic. Reminiscent of the postcards a while back. Obviously a PM theme: "whiter than white".
I can't see the picture. All I get is a small box with an X in it. I might have to go home now and see if it shows up on my laptop. And to download my contribution to PM's advent calendar.
Mary
Oh I can see it now! Ignore previous post.
Mary
Fifi's changed a bit since last Christmas hasn't she?
oOO. It worked.
Hey, that's Dr. Peter Brady!
Looks like the snowman I had in my back garden in Jan 06. He was wearing a different scarfe though.
And Whats the difference between snow men and snow women?
SB 1! Funny Fifi.
Sorry that was very silly, and more fitting for other sites, but I couldn't resist it.
Eddie I hope you will be featuring this on the show, complete with a thorough examination of the pronunciation. I'm sure the Grauniad has spelt the name of these houses wrong...
Freeze A Jolly Good Fellow!
What worked Eddie? I'm really intrigued
marymary, I got that box too, wonder what the x marks the spot was all about?
Oh look, it's my old friend Mr Cool!
Thanks Eddie. I thought at the time it was a shame he would only ever be seen by me and my SO. ;o)
This is turning into a very special day for me. As well as this excitement, I've just found out they're talking about my band on a ´óÏó´«Ã½ message board!
Fingers crossed that this works... but you should find it here /dna/mbradio2/F2142825?thread=3714774
* oh happy daaaaay ....... *
I've come home for lunch and now can't find my downloading cable to send my lovely Christmas picture. I'm going to cry!
Mary
I see that snowman on the ice...
Hey, it's Michael Jackson!
Is it just me, or is that a slightly intimidating snowperson?
Rufus A B (7), Hey! Hello! Where've you been! Welcome back :-)
Stewart (8), Snow Balls!
I hope that snowman doesn't try to take up a teaching position somewhere...
Perky
You're absolutely right. It IS Fifi!
Hi Fifi the link works! The Lying Scotsman? great name! And a very suave and mysterious looking snowman!
Perky, don't be afraid ... Mr Cool was much less creepy than the other snowperson we built that day.
We put my SO's John Lennon spex on him, which the snow glare turned slightly tinted.
He looked like a rather seedy assassin! (and much too unpleasant to send to the ´óÏó´«Ã½)
Anyone who wants a peek, email me via the website. I'm sure I've got a pic of him somewhere. . .
Aperitif (20)
Groan
Its the way we tell them!
Well, that is going to be difficult, Eddie, given that Advent doesn't start until Sunday.
Well, well, I've tracked the address down, located a better photo (in certain respects only), attached it, sent it - will it be like the Donkey Hat story though? Will it fall on stony ground - or even get stuck in a spam filter.
Which reminds me, I saw their latest advert, why do they only serve it battered? My late, dear Mum served it at her first dinner party as a smug married, in their first flat. This of course was post-war, ok stop counting on your fingers, regular froggers know my age by now anyway. Back to the DP. They had bought a table, but the only chairs they could rustle up were 4 deckchairs...(hope it was a low table). The piece de resistance was a joint of sp*m, roasted, studded with cloves and served with gravy and all the trimmings.
Versatile stuff? You decide. She certainly didn't still have it in her repertoire by the time we came along.
Well done Fifi and nice comments about the band on the board.
Is that the (SO's) hat or something you normally wear ??
Valerie P, I now have a strange yearning for spam fritters...
Oh Fifi, I could tell that you were nearby from the beaver/belvoir comments, but Oakham was so near I wish I had been there. & someone was blown away! How utterly exciting!
Joe (23) : Ah, but this is the Countdown TO Advent.
Only two more sleeps to go...
Fifi, just listened to you on utube and think you should tell the froggers when & where the next gig is in case we can be united! It's at
great images too, but I was writing so didn't watch the video properly.
Eddie, you have some real talent on this frog, names too numerous to list, but I am sure the TWAO & Today blogs cannot compare. Bear that in mind next time someone is wrestling you for an exclusive!
take no notice of the rude comments Fifi, I think it's a really good snowman. They should always make you smile.
we tend to make snow seals in our family but I don't think we have any pics of them sadly.
Lovely snowman from lovely Fifi
Fifi, not sure I can bear to retell the whole story, but shall email you the relevant parties tomorrow, am off out tonight to the theatre to try and engage in the multicultural debate...err...
Have you got a gig list? Or whatever people call it!
Someone tell me why December 1st isn't the start of advent (joe, 26) how else am I going to eat the relevant 24 days worth of chocolates?
Eddie/Lissa/anyone in the office who can find out for us:
Can you please settle a point for us froggers? On the "Smoking" thread somebody has posted under the name of
eddie mair
without caps. Is it an imposter?
While this may seem a frivolous enquiry, I for one need to know if there's an imposter on the Blog. Next thing we know there'll be a 'big sister' trying to muscle in on things ......
In anticipation of an answer, I thank you.
Woo! Eddie, vouchers for Threshers - Huge discounts! Is this story down to you googling cheap fizzy wine?
Mary
I've finally found my download thingy and have sent a christmas piccie of the office decorations. They are still in their wrapping. I expect we'll get to put them up on 22nd December!
Mary
Fifi - I wasn't being rude, so I hope you weren't offended - it's just the way your lovely snowman is leaning towards the camera. We try to make snow turtles in our garden, but they don't have quite the same visual impact..... I might try them with sunglasses this year though - watch this space.
Stewart (25), Do you think we could make a living at it?
Here's another: What is Father Christmas' wife called?
Re ME at 35: Eddie/Lissa/Whoever: When I referred to the Smoking thread, I should have said the "Under the Smoking entry there has been" thread.
Why does this all sound so odd?
Incidentally, I am very grateful - as I'm sure are others - for your piece about Nick Clarke's funeral. I felt I was there vicariously....
We were indeed grateful for the Nick Clark item, it was kind of his family to let us share it, and very sad to hear his wife articulate her loss so clearly.
Aperitif (20)
I ain't been nowhere my lovely. Dr. Jekyll hid the key to the medicine cabinet, that's all.
(39)
I find it difficult to believe that you are asking about Father Christmas's wife's name. As eny fule know, she is called Mrs. Christmas.
Big Sis it IS me...and I think the discrepancy can be explained by the difference between home and work log-ins. And yes I did organise to have froggers' pics on the blog this weekend for the 2nd and 3rd but there's some kind of catastrophe over picture sizes and I am without my usual back up. It'll be Monday I fear. Let's just say the pics were of Christmas preparations, and a LOT of Santas...
Eddie, I could show you how to resize your baubles! I mean that in the nicest way of course. ;)
Mary
Oh dear, humble apologies, and here I am in lower case to show how humble I feel. Sorry for casting nasturtiums Lord Mair.
Just popped in to say hi to me froggie mates and smile at Mr Cool again.
I wear that hat quite a bit in the summer months. Being of the Celtic colouring, I don't tend to do well in strong sunshine. That thing keeps my hair up off my neck and the sun off my nose.
He was leaning to one side because he was built ... squint. As he melted, the lean became increasingly pronounced until he fell over.
Perky, I was not at all offended. You would have to try much harder than that! ;o)
Tonight HelenSparkles I am traipsing out to the Wheatsheaf at Langham, on the half-promise of being asked to duet on one song with acoustic duo the Adrian & Richard String Ensemble.
Other acronyms are available.
They suggested I tackle the Kirsty McColl part of Fairytale of New York with them.
I've never sung it in public before, never rehearsed it with them, only barely know the tune ... I think if we put F for Fifi on the front of their name, the revised acronym could be spot-on!
Photos from Belvoir Xmas are coming in thick and fast now. Email me anyone who'd like to see some. They're big files, mind.
Cheers for now. Must go slap on some lippy and grab the guitar . . .
Fifi, if you can do Fairytale of New York, please do a recording so that I can have it. I absolutely love to dance to that. I do some extraordinary dancing!
Mary
Oh dear, Eddie, does that mean my Santas have hit the dust? I do hope not ....... it was a very special picture.
And I'm glad my faith in you/your postings has been well founded. I, for one, never doubted you (as you'll have seen on the postings on the other thread.)
Sorry you've got no back up(!) but enjoy the rest of your weekend .....
(43), Sorry, not buying it. Not his usual manner/style.
Rufus (42) - Of course she's Mrs Christmas, but her given name is 'Mary'... How many other names do you have? I've long suspected that quite a lot of you are all one frogger, including (this is by no means exhaustive) Mark Intime, Lee Vitout and Watt A Whinger. Not so sure about your (almost) namesake Mr Firefly though.
A, x. (Other suspicious minds are available).
(43) Yep. I'm with Appy. I may well be wrong but I'll err on the safe side.
With you on those too!
Aperitif,
You are very astute. I have to admit that this is not the name on my birth certificate.
If you spot a really good pseudonym, (Lee Vitout - to name but one) it will not be mine. The naff ones, however, may be.
I am not related to the good Mr. Firefly, so far as I am aware, but around here, who knows?
Appy (49): I rather think it was him. He made a coded reference in 43 which only he and I would have understood. Can't be more specific, but it may become clearer if he posts my photo.
