Some intelligence on Window on Your World

Eddie Mair | 10:15 UK time, Tuesday, 19 December 2006

and that 10,000 figure I was given yesterday. As we suspected, it was duff. Someone was counting things that shouldn't have been counted. Sorry. We reckon we're now about half way through getting pictures posted. The good news is, contrary to what you might think, I'm told the number of postings will rise over the Christmas period. So it would be worth your while to keep checking back.

Thank you for your patience - I realise it must appear slow to many people. But despite the duplications, it's still our aim to get them all done before I die.

Thanks for the strapline Eddie, and now for my picture?

I really do hope the exercise is completed sooner rather than later since on actuarial grounds I am likely to die well before you! Not wishing to tempt the fates for either of us of course.

As for untanglings, I am happy to report that the Christmas knitting marathon is now finished and all wrapped up.

I hope you have as much success with the news.

    Eddie,

We quite understand; well, most of us anyway. Seems I may miss the day of triumph as I'll be offline from Friday until Wednesday, possibly at a different beach. If possible, I'll send of photo of me there.

Stop apologising Eddie. Can you imagine if those first 3 sentences above had come from the mouth of our esteemed PM? Or any politician, come to that? (Substitute 45 minute warning, or WMD for 10 000, obviously) It just isn't done!

I can only repeat what I wrote last night.(Now that I've managed to find it again. And copy it. Big project)

The ´óÏó´«Ã½ is a National Treasure.
    2. PM is a National Treasure.
    3. Eddie is a National Treasure.
    4. Sometimes we moan about any of the above, but that does not affect their status of aforesaid National Treasure.
5.The National Treasures are all on a steep learning curve re the technology.
    6 Sooner them than me.
    7. They will muddle through in the end.

Okay, so that makes a lot more sense, Eddie. Who will be collecting the overtime cheques?

And, by the way, we know you aren't personally responsible for any hold ups.

Vyle: Be very careful about posting photos of you in beach gear. Look what happened to Lee Vitout! He's now got his own fanclub.

Dear Eddie, given statistical probabilities and casting aside the unexpected, you have just handed the Beeb a cheque for 40 plus years in which to do the postings ... I'm not sure I can wait THAT long!

ours isn't any great loss, anyway (unless you're especially keen on "still life on chopping board"): there have been at least 263 others, already posted, which are along the same lines. I can wait.. and wait......

Big Sis, if I am successful I think you will be quite surprised (and relieved).

Yes, Belinda, and I bet that when Eddie expressed his disbelief at the Beeb's ability to post all photos quickly, no matter what format, that it would DEFINITELY happen, no problems with technology, manpower, exit strategies, etc., etc., he was given a dossier to 'prove' he was wrong.

Eddie, we all know how you feel.

And well done, Jonnie, for retrieving Lee's picture.

Belinda (11) But the latest think-tank report which is negative about our efforts in Iraq has been rubbished by a senior Government Minister, so we can safely ignore that. No woolly comments about a threadbare report!

Considering a disagreement we had some time ago about the effectiveness or not of shoulder-rubbing, what do you think of the present report?

Btw, I've lost the thread it was on - but thanks to Helen the Vol for the White Christmas Card, it's excellent and has cheered me up no end, I'm off to wrap presents now x

Ed (16), Um, I'll need an expansion on what you mean by "a disagreement we had some time ago about the effectiveness or not of shoulder-rubbing".

Jonnie (14), Thanks for reviving that. As fellow froggers were aware (considering the fuss I made at the time and the party on the blog that night [pre-Beach days]), 17th October was my birthday. You will note that Lee Vitout addressed his greetings to Big Sister and I. You may admire him, but I claim my birthday gift, thank you. ;-)

    Appy,

You were arguing that al Poodle had had more ameliorating influence on Shrub's foreign policy than was apparent to cynics like myself, and I replied that I would like some evidence if you had any.

Not to worry. I felt at the time he went shoulder-to-shoulder (other postures are available and spring readily to mind) it was a noble effort to try and prevent a disastrously stupid response from America. In the end it has cost Blair whatever vestige of honour he might have had with virtually no pay-out.

Now it seems there's a think-tank paper to that effect.

As I said, it dis'nae matter. Still love ya.

    Ed (20),

I recall posting about the PM's attempts to influence Bush and his reasoning for going along with the US, but, I'm sorry, I have no memory of you asking about evidence for this - I fear I must've missed that or I would certainly have replied -- sorry.

So, better late than never: I don't have evdience but I do have the hearsay of some people I trust, at the end of a short chain I have no reason not to trust. I realise this doesn't prove anything but would add that neither is there is any way of proving that he did not (try to) exert influence.

I'm afraid I've not read the paper -- only heard the news-media summaries -- so won't comment on it until I have.

I feel the need to add that, although I feel I understand some of the reasoning behind the invasion of Iraq, I didn't support it. But you already know that, of course.

    Love? -- Right back atcha!

"(tried to)" Of that I have little doubt. I never liked the man, but did grant him some integrity to begin with, but he has proved, yet again, the corrupting (and isolating) nature of power, and, I would suggest, the seductive power of the Bilderberg moneymasters.

It must be lonely at the top, and what company one does get is often the wrong sort.

    Sad, really.

What a sad life I have but you can't imagine how many people I have told about submitting photos who have come back & told me mine aren't on the site.
I've tried to become famous but google ron heygard & nothing!
Perhaps I should rejoice in my anonymity at least I can still walk down the street without being recognised except by any hardcore fans.
By hardcore I am not of course referring to pornography, It was not that sort of production & anyone who thought it was didn't understand what I was trying to convey.
Look forward to more updates, with mine I hope very soon.
I shall log on on Christmas Day after the Queen's speech to see if I have been included.
