Meet the commissioners, view the terms of reference and hear the Commission Chair Sir Michael Lyons explain his approach.
We have a song. And a recording! Here's what Jonnie posted earlier on the Old Beach:
Morning Froggers,
Fifi e-mailed me the music to the Froggers song, I think she has turned out a wonderful rendition along with her band members John and Karl.
I've posted it on the PM Blog extra site along with the lyrics. When you click on the page it should start playing automatically after around 20 secs but give it time. There is also a download link. Make sure you scroll down though.
As well as substituting for my voice in verses and choruses (chori?) we have vacancies for whistling, percussion, additional instruments, harmony singing and much funnier ad libs at the end than I could think of.
When Jonnie gets back from Utrecht we may find out how we can all record and add our bits ... so for now, it's PRACTICE TIME!!
Fifi xxx
Anne P Thank you for the recipe, it looks really good. Now all I need is for teenage son to get out of bed.....
Help yourselves to cheese scones for early lunch or late elevenses, depending on whether you remembered to change your clocks.
Wow Feefs! Well done! If enough of us download it will it make the charts d'you think????
That's a good point Appy (3). I'd better have a makeover before the paparazzi arrive!
I'm worrying now about Copyright issues ... seriously, does anyone know Eric Idle?
Or know anyone who knows him???
Fifi
Oh I say, cor, wow!!
*momentarily lost for words*
Fifi, that's brilliant, what a voice! A great rendition of that famous 2007 classic: "The PM Froggers Song" !
(de dum - di dum di dum di dum....)
n-n
xx
...and a (pained) thankyou to all for joining in the conga last night...
...ooooh my legs....
n-ow!-n
xx
Fifi - brilliant! Thanks to you, and of course to all of you clever wordsmiths too. Where could this lead??
Anne P - thanks again for the recipe, off to buy ingredients now (I have a storecupboard the size of King Solomon's Mine, but it's always chock full of the wrong things. This is probably why I'm a better cook than a baker, I like to improvise - but experiments aren't so good in baking :o))
Fifi (4) I've found the address of his American publicist and am willing to write to him.
Fifi!! Congratulations it's brilliant! I've just posted on the old beach about how to add some whistling but you've already answered here, sorry I should catch up before ploughing in!
Re copyright, how do we stand with it being available online? Are we infringeing anything already? We're not making any money out of it, at least.
I've left some lovely baked cheesecake on the bar, with raspberry goo! Help yourselves:-)
Wonderful Fifi. Thanks so much. I hope the rest of us don't ruin it all by joining in!
Gillian, can you either email me via my website, or pop across to the Cransleycam for a quick chat?
I've drafted a letter to Eric Idle's publicist and want to show you!
Fifi xx
Fantastic beach - fantastic song! Can't wait for you all to add more, although it's brill as it is, Fifi.
Can anyone tell me how to make it louder - I've got my volume control up full but it's still very quiet. I can't sing, but I could whistle, only it's very hard when the music is so soft.
Well done to Gillian for tracking down Eric Idle's publicist and I hope no-one puts a stop to it. You are all so clever.
Haven't been here for a while, so what's the news? I gather Ffred's been away so I suppose his love life's suffering again. And by the by, has anyone heard from MadMary lately? Hope she's OK.
Lol. I will try to keep more in touch, but March started hectic and looks like ending that way. So I've brought down some excellent Amarone which I hope will keep you all happy - just help yourselves! I think I need some too!
Gossipmistress: you provided most of the lyrics you know. Which bump-started us into actually doing something! So, huge plaudits to you too, m'dear.
And Perky: I'm counting on you for some instrumental magic at the very least!
Re copyright: I think we may be sailing close to the wind already but because we're not making any 拢拢 out of it we should be OK.
And moves are afoot to get permission, before we do much more with the resulting masterpiece. So, don't worry about prison visits just yet...
Fifi ;o)
Re: sara, You are right it isn't very loud, so later I will (as we say in the trade) crank up the wick and re-post it.
I'll also reorganise the 'song beach' and set up a mini blog for people to ask about technical problems with ideas to solutions, to recording the bits. I know there are plenty of regular Froggers who may have a lot of knowledge, esp as regards to mac's.
Then when I get back from Holland on Thursday we can take the next step.
Fifi (13) Humph did it really, I just tweaked! Frances wrote one verse - and she must have an agent by now after having her pome read out so maybe we should be paying her royalties!x (and of course you did the rest!)
Feefs - bruw-yunt!
(As we said in Embra. Naebdy's pairfec)
That's your voice? Gorgeous. More, please. And I loved the giggle in it.
Played it to House Guest who, though no frogger, loved it.
Repetition of 'loved' - joke for RJD re first day of frog.
I have the full roll of honour on file, so nobody will be forgotten WHEN it all comes together!
Ed I is practising even though he insists he is both tone deaf and rhythmically challenged.
I confidently predict this song is going to be a musical first.
;oD
Fifi
Erm... I appear to have been moderated off, both last night and today with a comment about the actor I was trying to identify a few weeks ago. Lots of you tried to help me (including the esteemed 'Charles Dance'!) but I only finally found him on TV the other night and got his name from the credits.
I pasted links to his photo, so maybe that was what the mods didn't like, but I don't know why, he wasn't naked or anything...
Anyway, his name is Paul Brooke, for anyone who remembers or cares to google!
Frances O - A Bonus Point because the audience enjoyed your contribution!
Gossipmistress - I've searced for a picture of Paul Brooke but cannot find him. Are you sure that you won't settle for Charles Dance?
By the way - no payout on the Hice stakes - your bet was acknowledged but no hard cash was ever received.
Fifi - Magic stuff! I will totally enhance the final product by undertaking not to add my musical input.
Gossipmistress (18), I puzzled over that one for ages, but confess I'd never have got it -- I don't know who that is! Off to google him now!
Shucks Frances, you are a sweetie. :o)
Can you stop it now, please, all of you? I can't deal with any more of your lovely compliments, I really can't. The man is coming tomorrow to widen all my doors, and my SO is getting tired of the photographers with long lenses hanging around outside.
As far as I'm concerned this song thing is a team effort and I'm doing what for me is the easy bit.
Enuff!!!!!
;o)
Fi
Well Gossipmistress! I couldn't find a photo anywhere, but I did find a list of his TV appearances -- if only you'd said he was Friar Bellows in Blackadder I would've known right away!
RJD - bother! I was hoping you hadn't noticed....
Appy & RJD - I just google image searched and the first 2 photos were him
I'll try the link again.....wish me luck....hold my ankles.....
oh him! well I'd much rather have Charles Dance. Recognised the face when I saw the pictures but would never have been able to put a name to it. Hint to googlers who can't find him - try googling for images and it will turn up quite a lot. And then you will all sayu - oh yes him, and I suspect you will nearly all follow that with 'well I'd much rather have Charles Dance'.
Oh dear, Still no packing done :-(
sara, the file is now as loud as I can get it. Even the ITV adverts can't match it's compression and Capital FM in London would be proud of me!
There is now a specific e-mail address that Fifi can access for your contributions and questions -- and a technical blog for everyone to add their suggestions.
This has to be the most creative 大象传媒 blog thanks to Eric and the Froggers. I'll leave you all in charge and looking forward to hearing how the rehearsals are progressing on Thursday. It's all here
with all the info. I suggest to use the (mini blog) set aside with all the technical queries so it leaves this beach clear and is easier for us to collate all the problems and sort things out.
For those of you who have sampled the camstreams site I may be able to give you the odd scene of a canal in Utrecht. You never know.
I can't seem to get anything but oneliners to appear, so look at the frogger's refuge for some helpful hints on recording your contributions.

ed
I've sent a rough mix of fifi 'n me to jonnie's.
I actually like some of the harmonies. ;-) He may post it.
(or discord?)

I can't believe the time!
Thanks Ed I -- You've explained an awful lot with your hard work!
A star in the making :-)

RJD 19
D'you mean this Paul Brooke?
Eek.
Paul Brooke.
Must give time for the thread to load.
Or fork out for broadband.
Yes Warren that's the bloke. I'd have never put a name to him either, he always seems to be in a supporting role. It's pleasing to finally find him though!
Captivating song.
Morning all. English Breakfast on the bar next to the coffee and some homemade hedge fruits jelly to go with the croissants and toast.
Crikey, could no one sleep last night? It's all the excitement, and that song going round your head.
Gossipmistress (9) Your lyrics are great, and go so well with the tune. All this and a superb strapline, to boot! (which Humph will do when he sees it ;o) oh, thanks for the link to the actor's photo - it's him. Know the face but didn't know the name
Frances O and Humph....also great lyrics. Frances, you had your moment of glory last week, and Humph hang in there....it can only be a question of time!
Ed (28) Wonderful! It's great to hear your voice!
I really want to join in, but I think my technophobia may let me down. I'm going over to the Refuge to read your advice.
Jonnie (25) You're a technical wizzard! And yes please to the pics from Utrecht.....the odder the better! Hope you and Simon have a great time.
That's excellent Jonnie - it's much better now it's a bit louder! Hope you have a great time in Holland.
Fantastic song, all. I had to get help to listen to it on jonnies site last night. Somehow firefox doesn't let me use jonnies place apart from the chat bit (because there's a link from this blog, so that's ok, & it gets fooled...) Now I've just listened to Ed's contribution, it's wonderful. You're all so clever with the tecchie stuff. I will have to ask the War Office to help me record something. When I've figured out the chords, so I'm in the right key. I'm not good at playing by ear - much better with dots in front of me. Superb lyrics in this version of the song, btw. If I haven't mentioned them before.
Ah - so that's Paul Brooke? Maybe we should start a fan club?
Gillian - another technophobe, thank goodness - see my comment on the Froggers' Refuge!
Not only did I hum the tune all day yesterday, but I went on to dream that we had a full-blown Froggers'Convention last night! What a strange bunch we were, and RJD, I'm sorry to say, we had the gathering at your place! We made a bit of a mess too :o(, no camels to blame either.
Oh Ed I - that was magnificent! No discord at all, and what a lovely blend of accents. Just wait till we get some Norn Iron and Swedish and NZ etc etc in there!
GM (15) No, no, no it was all you! Well mostly you, anyway. I did words for the tune "Jerusalem", which even a brillant musician like Fifi would have struggled with on the guitar. No, I think that you should take most of the credit on this one!
H.
P. S. Does anyone think that I have been scared by Fifi's talk about prison (13)?
Prison - nah, Froggers stand united we will never be divided etc etc (and we must have a legal bod amongst our numbers surely?!)
Oh dear. I see the main thread has careered back to September again!
Warm buttered toast anyone? It'll get colder back there.
Val P (38) - Well, you might have helped tidy up before you left. I've collected all the glasses and bottles and generally sorted the place out. Any idea who left the following items behind?
Red 4 inch stilettos (size 6)
Small tobacco tin inscribed 鈥淢edicinal Grass鈥
Photograph of Eddie Mair signed 鈥淎lways thinking of you. E.M.鈥
A whip (yes, a real one)
An 18-year old Macallan (well, he says he鈥檚 18.)
A yashmak
D'you know what would be really good? If we could get Paul Brooke to do a bit of the song! It would be... pleasing circular. And I have long adored the first series of Blackadder, so it would make me happy for that alone. Should we try to find him, do you think?
RJD - If the red stilettos have white spots on then the could belong either to me, or to Frances O (mind you, I'm only a 4.5, so they must be hers).
Appy - PB may know Eric Idle, which would be even more pleasantly circular, and convenient?
The young Macallan is mine and I claim my prize! Not sure how I came to leave him behind....
Aperitif: go for it!

Ooohhh - September but a 'newer' entry; does this mean one day we'll be in October?
Val P - if PB knows EI that'd save a whole lot of quaffing* around.
I'm all for cutting the trap*!
Fifi ;o)

Huh?
xx
ed
Ed I (51) - Was that "Huh?" done in an Elvis sort of way.
You don't think you are taking this singing fame too seriously?
I thought I was the only EI - Huh!
RJD (52) Hahahaha.
Ed (53), you are not the only EI but you are the EI... and the antidote to IE, I believe...
Val (45), Fifi (47), Can we have Eric Idle and Paul Brooke, do you think?
Author of the song, Ed. Sorry, my fault. Struggling with megamultitasking today.
I will always refer to you as Ed I though, Ed, never as EI.
;o)
Fifi
Mwah! to you all (grins)
xxxxx
Appy (54) : if you think they would both be interested, I certainly wouldn't have a problem with it!
However I wouldn't want it to be hijacked by a 'big name', and become more about "So-and-So has re-recorded a song with some radio listeners..."
Now, I don't for a second suspect anyone of planning to do such a thing -- but you can't tell the media how to report things, and many of them can't resist a famous face.
What do others think though? I'm just one little frogger in a great big lilypad!
Fifi ;o)
Fifi - I've not managed to hear it yet (at work, no speakers and pc at home misbehaving) but I'm sure that whilst a celeb would be nice its very much the Froggers creation...maybe if there was a video they could feature!!
I think you all should all be very proud of the effort put in - it makes me smile to think there are such creative, fun, intelligent people out there.
Ed I (53) E.I.? E.I.? Oh!
Fifi (57) I'm with you all the way on that one!
Maybe if they were billed as 'mystery celebrity guests'?
xx
Firefox, the antidote to IE
Yes Fifi (57), Now that I've calmed down and thunk it through properly I think you are right -- we don't want to be hijacked. But I do like the idea of claiming Paul Brooke as our "official celebrity" -- it's so apparently random, yet with good Gossipmistress reason... I wonder if he's a PM listener?...
I'm not easily star-struck at the best of times Appy, but ... well ... WHO IS HE???
(retreats back into deep hole)
Fifi ;o)

Fifi (62), See photos at Warren Peace's post at 30 above. He's been in loads of stuff.
Hello all, I'm new around here. Never been anywhere near here before. Ever. Even slightly. Nice here isn't it. I may be able to make use of the red stilettos and yashmak from the lost property box. Being as I'm rather famous in certain circles I like to keep a low profile, well, as low as my llama dowager hump allows. So something of a disguise from my fans would be a good wheeze. And since I'm allergic to blue, do give me a heads up if anything in blue serge comes over the horizon. Now I'm off to quaff whatever leftovers there are on the NC bar. tata
Arejaydee (19) rote:
but no hard cash was ever received
Ard say same fing bout them stewerds. Aye waits n aye waits but nufing. Yu aint a stewerd, are yur, arejaydee?
Magnolia of the Dunes (65) - Please have the stilettos and yashmak with my compliments. Does the whip interest you at all? By the way, the only blue allowed here is the sea and sky - can you handle that?
Snitch (66) - I have been called a bar steward on occasion but I don't think that is the same thing.
Ed (28) fantastic!
How did you do it? I need some lessons on the technology!
Hmmm.
I do apologise to anyone that's been on the unofficial beach in the Frogger Song section - I posted a comment earlier this evening, which seems to have multiplied every time I look. I promise I only posted once, and I daren't do it again in case everyone thinks I'm spamming. In fact, I'm so embarrassed that I'm going to sneak behind Nick's Bar and drink the dregs rather than show my face.
Is that whip still up for grabs?
Thank you to Steve for supplying the chords again. And with the key change at the end! I'm sure that wasn't on the original chords as listed at jonnies (the one time I got to see it - long story, but I can look at jonnies site using our other computer, unfortunately we have lent it to a friend for a few weeks, so I am limited to this one). I'll try to think of something a bit creative with the harp (racking brains furiously - help!)
RJD ("Hmph"):
Hmph!
Fifi xxx
Song great. I now have it on my MP3 and may dare record whistling onto my PDA on the train tomorrow. Not sure if my dulcet tones will be appreciated. Anyone else on the 7.15 Shipley to London or 17.33 London to Shipley?
We could duet!
Sad but the chorus is stick in my tiny mind!
Oh! Always listen between 5 & 6.
Arrgh being content barred!
Mr Snitch. I note your comments with interest. However we are not in the business of offering financial reward for unproven evidence so I fear you may be of no use to us.
( Psssst! Meet me bhind the last dune on the left later and we can discuss terms. Mum's the word!)
RJD - is that a lonely kinda Hmmm, or can we all join in?
Love the strapline, Pen!
Fifi - What are you Hmph-ing about?
LadyPen - Yet another strapline - how many is that?
Come back and talk to us.
Fifi (71) - I was humming the chorus. What were you doing "hmphing"
On train. Playing with technology. Not whistleing though.
Dearie me, I wish these posts would arrive in the order that they are sent. I can look stupid enough without outside help.
Val P - I was just hummimg the chorus when suddenly the camels joined in. There are a couple of very good tenors in there. And that new one with the stilettos and yaskmak can hold a tune as well.
RJD - TWO tenors in a room at once? Flippin eck!
I am NOT a camel!
I am from a long line of osteoporitic llamas. OK, osteoporitic, spitting llamas. And I've got some hairy friends patrolling behind the dunes.
Perky: what a lovely voice you have! Really bluesy, and great harmonies in the chorus, and a backing vocal on one of the verses. AND an ad lib ... you've done a sterling job.
All loud and clear, which is what we want.
But can I ask a favour? Are you able to play the original backing track without adding it to the recording? Ideally we need to get YOUR voice on a separate track to the guitar etc.
If (like me) you don't know how to do this, let me know and I'll connect you with Ed Iglehart ... he's done exactly the same as you, but also done one with his voice separately.
Well done Perky!!!!
Fifi
Aha! It seems I can hear things through Windows Media Player -- nice one Ed (28).
RJD, were you really humming or was it just a variation on a push?
Aperitif : Now, if you'd said, 'Paul Brooke who played the evil Town Planner in the TV production of Blott on the Landscape starring David Suchet as Blott', I would have known exactly whom you meant!
I think I may have a compromise re famous contributors to the song...
If they earn their froggy stripes by frogging on the Frog, then they're in. Clearly made of the right stuff in such circs. Hugh The Hack, Sequin and eddie clearly belong to this category already. C Dance, Seen Been and J Depp I'm not sure about because I've only been told of their fleeting presence by others ... but I expect to be outvoted here.
Does this idea appeal to the other froggers?
Fifi
Does the idea of encouraging a few celebrities, including Johnny Depp, to join in the frogging appeal? Nah, no thanks...
A cuple a tenners, Arejaydee? Where?
Ap - Yes to the variation.
Fifi - Charles Dance is unavailable. And I suspect that if you invite J Depp the whole recording will be ruined with sighs and groans from Ap et al.
Magnolia of the Dunes - Look it was dark and if you keep hiding behind the others it is hardly my fault if I can't identify you. Btw, there was a character called Snitch here a while ago muttering something about 鈥渕oney or blue serge鈥 鈥 anything to do with you?
Appy : I don't belieeeeeeeeeeeeeve you!
Fifi
71, 76, 78 - I really wish people would stop using my name in vain! ;-)
H
Aperitif - you surprise me today? A "no" to Johnny D? Oh I see you were being.......
Right lads, you three to that end of the beach, you lot take the other end and you two come with me. Yes, wear the googles!
Just back from scouting around the dunes. I've heard that llama hair is wonderful for spinning and knitting. Just not sure the best way to get it....
Thanks. Fifi - I will try and separate out the vocal line and resave it for you. I'll look at it as soon as I get home - no doubt to groans from the small people, who aren't allowed on the computer at the moment.......
Fifi (85) that sounds fair to me!
The one-l lama,
He's a priest.
The two-l llama,
He's a beast.
And I will bet
A silk pajama
There isn't any
Three-l lllama.
Fifi - Johnny Depp as a Frogger....oh the joys (and Sean Bean....)
But back to the original point. If they can prove their Frogging credentials I see no reason why they can't join in, but they would have to have a bit of concerted effort. No flash-in-the-pan Frogging here thanks (which is a bit rich from me, I still consider myself a bit of a newbie!!)
I'm not a great fan of bringing in any celebrities, but it would be fun if Eddie said ''Hi!'' in the appropriate place!
Stewart M (80) You know how to whistle, don't you, Stew? You just put your lips together and blow.
Sorry to be serious here but ... anyone know anything about cat welfare?
I am terribly worried about our little black feral moggie, Blackie.
Fifi :o(
Fifi - Gossismistress would be the best shot but as a cat 'owner' I'll give it a go!
Oh dear - it just happened to me! Logged on and there I was in September, read the whole darn thing too and thought, that's funny why's he doing the Pointless Blog Postcard Thing again when he lost mine last time? Then it dawned on me, I'd joined the Club!
Only popped by to ask for moral support, I'm going over the top now - I've dug out the 2 x 8" cake tins,(different heights but hey let's not be pedantic about this, what difference can it make?), bought all the ingredients, gone back again and bought the ones I forgot first time, gone back again for more eggs because the first 6 slid off the top of the trolley (along with the poppadums) and crashed on to the car park floor.......You see why I need good luck? This is fairly typical of a baking assault Vel P styley. I may be away for some time :-/
Oh my giddy aunt - how on this sweet earth do you WEIGH 4oz of golden syrup???
Thanks to the froggers who've posted little comments (to date all rather nice) re my little Pome.
As Eddie's on a merry threading spree, I'm leaving that here so that it's more widely seen.
xx
Fifi - feel free to email about the cat - I'll help if I can
Update for cat lovers:
Any tips on how to trap a feral cat and get it into a transporter box for taking to vet?
This was never one of the pet items on Blue Peter so I'm stuck!
Just awaiting arrival of my own cat transporter, back from loan to a pal... so I have time for some cat trapping lessons.
Fifi
I must admit, I got taken back to last September earlier as well, and I thought Eddie was on one of his posting sprees again, until I realised it was just a case of going down the wrong leg of the trousers of time....
Fifi - ps hope little cat creature is ok x
Sorry about disjointed frogging today....
Val P - good luck; weighing golden syrup, there is a knack which sadly I don't have. I normally end up with some in my hair, but I'm sure you will do just fine! :) x
I've been bird watching over at the big dune.
There's a poor sandpiper that cannot pipe
He's all wheezed up and croaked
He's swallowed so much sand
His blinking carburettors choked!
He cannot whistle through his throat
He's in a sorry plight
So he sticks his beak into the sand
And whistles through the night.
Val P.(104) Easiest if you have the kind of scales you can put the saucepan on and set to zero - then just add a couple of tablespoonsful slowly and watch the weight go up. Otherwise just sling in a couple of heaped tablespoonsful. I did say it's a good tempered recipe!
EEEK - well they are in the oven, but why do I feel that the marrying of the terms "runny consistency" and "loose-bottomed cake tins" is just asking for trouble?
Watch this space dribble, dribble
And of course the phone rang just as I was beating it all together at the last stage. I resisted dashing to answer it, with every bone and sinew, reminding myself that we have an answering machine for this precise occasion. Did they leave a message? Did they h***. Did 1471 give me a sensible number, or is it a number which, when dialled gives me a neverbefore heard po-faced message "This service is not compatible with this call". What on earth is that supposed to mean? What kind of number begins 0118.........?
This had better be good cake. Hope I'm not spooning it off the bottom of the oven in 10 mins time ;o)
Val P - Come on now, how hard can that be?
1. Place bowl or whatever on scales.
2. Reset scales to zero.
3. Slowly add syrup until 4 oz mark.
Phew!
Okay doke - as predicted, reasonably small "bonus" 3rd cake on the floor of the oven (as I'm a glass half full kinda person, I've eaten that to make sure in advance that I'm not going to poison Birthday Girl). The other two are on the airing racks, now, can you give me a ball-park figure as to expected height? My guess is I'm going to have to put in, either a 3rd storey(damn, could have used the bonus cake if I hadn't eaten it already) or some pre-etty tall filling :o)
P.S., fortunately commonsense came to the rescue re golden syrup problem, as I couldn't wait for the vagaries of Eddie's Post to give me an answer, and I did just that thing with the pan and the Zero-ing. Still managed to get some syrup on my elbows for later Witchi! Oh yes, and pan turned out to be too small to do the beating in, necessitating transfer to another vessel.
Another plus - the strange phone number (see post which hasn't appeared yet, and of course may never do?) phoned back again just as I was testing with a skewer (our skewers are a bit dirk-like so the holes are not discreet - more icing methinks), and it turned out to be pretty important stuff about pension transfers...........hey ho, off to wrap presents, blow up balloons, and hide all evidence of baking. Anyone want to lick my elbows?
Gossipmistress : I would email you if I could figure out how! Can't get blinkin' flickery thing to behave itself. Possibly my stress levels rather than any deficiency of the site, mind you...
The drama is unfolding on the Cransleycam, if anyone wishes to join in the general mayhem.
Latest is that kitty has escaped through the lean-to, which backs on to falling-down brick pig-houses next door. He currently lurks there, little black pointy ears just showing, uncatchable but not leaving either.
He should come out again when he gets hungry/thirsty.
Fifi
Or what about putting tin of syrup on scales, noting the weight, taking some out til it weighs 4 ounces less?
Tee hee, thank you all for such a good giggle this afternoon (especialy Valery @ 103 and 104 -- sorry, Valery, for laughing at you but hahahaha). Makes up for the Johnny Depp film that was on 大象传媒1 last night. I hate to say it but it was utter pants. Why he and Charlize Theron had any part in it I've no idea. (Worth watching with the sound off though, sigh).
Val P.
Mine usually come out looking as if they're a bit flatter than you expect, anything from 1 cm to 3/4-1 inch to mix measuring systems - but by the time you've larded on lots of butter icing between and on top it will look fine. The dripping round the edges of the tin I should have warned about, but it does vary with the flour and how well-fitting your tins are.
Now thet's lateral thinking, Gillian. Where do I go to hear perky's duet?

Let them eat cake!
Gossipmistress : sorry, haven't been able to find a way to email you, and now I'm going offline for the evening.
Try to wind down after a very upsetting day.
I hope we can make contact tomorrow though, either here or at Cransleycam, or via my website link.
Thanks everyone who tried to help today. Your support has been froggienomenal! Who needs (absent) neighbours when one's fellow amphibians are on hand with advice and suggestions?
Fifi
Appy,
Sorry to miss you at the Cransley, I was looking elsewhere....

That also was maliciously fast!
So, to pass some time, a little reminiscence:
This week in irony:
Still malicious, it seems. And another. On the Editor's site, I'm "not allowed to comment"
Grrrr!
Perky,
Any chance of a copy of your duet with Fifi? email it to me and I might be able to put it on the web for folk. address at
xx
ed
Well, Val P, you've succeeded in making me hungry for cake. Well, just the butter icing, actually.
Ed (120) - if I knew how to post a link to the audio here, I'd do it. Perhaps Fifi will oblige, but I must have lots of warning so that I can hide coquettishly behind my fan.
Perky,
go to the beach at and get my email. I'll put it on the web for you in temporary space, and take it down whenever you want.
xx
ed
Perky & Ed : remind me at Cransleycam tomorrow (by which time I'll be sober again.... bad day here at Fifi Towers!) .... and I'll send Ed the duet.
It's so cool!
Fifi
PS poorly cat clearly much better now. Thank you all who helped or tried to. I really, REALLY love you for that.
xxx
Perky: it came out lovely!
You have a really good blues voice, and the harmonies work brilliantly.
...next!!!!!
Fifi ;o)
PS cat's still hanging around, can't eat properly but walking much better and still clearly likes us despite trying to catch him earlier... bless.
Aw, Fifi, you spoil me. If I hadn't had your infectious recording to start off with, I'd never have made it!
xx
No worries Ed, I'll see you there another time no doubt.
I had popped in to see how Fifi's cat was, but I have my answer here! So pleased :-)
ValP (115) As an alternative, you could wrap the balloons, blow up all evidence of baking and hide presents. When it comes to elbow-licking, I seem to remember that RJD has a trick along those sort of lines but, if memory serves, it involved licking his own. Still, if you ask nicely, he might show you how it is done.
H.
Humph - and all of you - bless your cotton socks, where would I be without you?
Oh Gawd. I am still on the planet, really. I have so much catching up to do. Can someone perhaps just pootle on by, brush up against my shoulder, and say "hi anna, it's really nice to see you"? Or shall I just fix another LARGE g&t? Actually, those two outcome needn't be mutually exclusive.....?
Good luck Val, hope you're not up all night...!
Fifi - Sorry I missed you earlier, I was at work til 7 then only switched the computer on at home quite late. I've emailed you about 30mins ago. I'll be around home some of tomorrow
Ah shucks - did I miss the elbows?
Fifi, sounds like you've been having dire day. Complete empathy/sympathy (whichever you'd prefer) plus a stiff G&T on the bar for you.
Love & compassion from fellow cat-owned. (Fifi will know I meant to type owned, not owner!)

Helloooooooooooo all :-)
I AM still here, honest, only when not frantically busy with new job (can I mention j-word on beach?) am frantically tired and, unlike Lord Mair, can't frog in sleep . . .
RJD and others - were the straplines good, then? Can't remember what I sent in and have been online so infrequently that I missed them:-( Blogger.
Will catch up next week when kids are away and can stay awake for longer than 5 mins at a time. Only good thing about this fulltime w**k thing is that I get to listen to PM in car on way home.
Off to Norwich today (in FOG!) to learn about child protection. Shall have to get new brain soon to encompass all new knowledge. Have tried defragging old one but still have memory of goldfish :-(
Love to all those who've kept Spirit of Frog going in my absence, to the new Froggers who've joined in ditto, to PM for the Sony nomination, and to anyone else who knows me . . .
xx
LadyPen
Ah LadyPen - So good to hear from you.
Don't be too long in coming back. If I can't get enough banter on here there is a danger that I might try to make the odd serious comment - and we don't want that, do we?
Fifi - hows it all going? Thought of you and kitten lots last night as my mad torty and white was chasing round the place.
AnnaR - hello chicken! how are things this morning!
In honour of the sony nomination may I suggest bucks fizz (made with freshly squeezed orange juice of course....or not!) and some lovely hot croissants, or pain au raisin.
I'm going to laze in a hammock for a bit - Mrach can go jump!!
Perky and Ed (137) That is sooooo good! Perky, you have a great voice, and thanks to Ed for your technical wizardry. Pity you didn't put your own bit with it, though, Ed. You really are too modest. ;0)
Oh dear, I'm starting to feel terribly responsible for that cake. Claiming it's foolproof now seems rather like claiming the Titanic was unsinkable.
Oy, just because you're all media stars doesn't mean you can pull lumps out of my coat!. Now I'm bald in patches as well as having a back ache.
The good news is, I'm back orff to the Hice, my activities are apparently privileged... so you boys in blue can go and whistle..... as a backing track of course.
AnnaR and LadyPen, great to see you both are still loitering within tent. Always welcome here, you know that, especially bearing alcofrolic and savoury gifts?
Thanks to all re kind thoughts about Blackie. No sign this morning but the RSPCA lady got me out of bed to take delivery of a fearsome looking 'humane' trap.
He was definitely walking much more upright by bed-time. Still couldn't eat properly but trying terribly hard to ... poisoning (incl by toad!) and stroke are running joint-favourite theories.
Neither SO nor I slept well, needless to say. In my case, for some reason I had Perky's harmony in my head all night -- so at least the soundtrack was pleasant!
I'll let you know if anything else happens. And THANK YOU again, all of you, for your support. You've been wonderful, and made me feel much less scarily alone with my worries.
Fifi
Welcome back LadyPen!
Cup of English Breakfast anyone?
Anne P - ah no, no fault of yours, you didn't know how fallible I am! I'm 100% sure it will taste delicious. When it's iced I'll make sure I leave it's alter ego on the flikering place, and you're welcome to go and have a slice!
Lady PenSnork - welcome home!
Perky - wow, great harmonising. Yes I'd love to hear you in there too Ed I.
Anna Rex - I'll join you in a g&t, happy day, I am officially the mother of 2 adults!
Fifi - sending get-well vibes to Blackie, sorry I missed your time of need yesterday :o(
Good morning one and all, well its hard to keep up with all that's going on here lately. Must admit am feeling a tad left out of it at the moment :0( Would love to keep more involved in all the extra-cirrcular activities - i.e. the song, visits to the Cransley cam etc - but just have no time (boo!) My PC at home is too slow and decrepit (or rather my ancient dial up connection is) and here in the office, well I actually have to work occasionally, meaning my frog time is limited.
Anyway if I can't join in the song I can at least offer you all a nice cup of tea and some warm croissants with strawberry jam to keep you going.
By the way - I know its in here somewhere but can someone please kindly remind of how to listen to the song so I can tune in later, thank you!
Fifi - hope Blackie is on the mend now
Val P - hope you got all your balloons blown up. Is today the big day?
ww - can I have some bucks fizz please (its never too early for champers in my opinion!)
A big helloooo to one and all. Right back to work x
Hi Fiona
Here's the link to the song:
Don't worry about not being involved in things froggie while you're so busy (and under-resourced at home!) ... there will I'm sure be plenty more mad projects where you are better equipped to get stuck-in.
Still no sign of anyone small and furry at my door. Fingers remain tightly crossed as I head downstairs to rustle up some lunch for me and SO.
Fifi xxx
Fifi - I realise al our feline friends are different but mine adores prawns....might that tempt Blackie to reveal his/her location (I'm not sure if I know what sex the fluffy one is)
Fiona - champagne....any excuse to open a bottle; my fave tipple (wow, how high maintenance of me!)
oh Fifi, I do hope the cat turns up. S/he probably will, if used to being fed by you. I know it seems terribly silly to be so worried by something that isn't even 'your' cat but they do have a habit of curling up in the heart don't they. Fingers crossed.
Latest on the poorly moggy:
The little chap has appeared at last!
Walked up the garden very firmly.. but by the time he'd reached the back door he was looking much weaker again.
Has had some milk (no drooling) and some meat outside the RSPCA humane trap.... sooner or later he'll go in .... and now he's roosting in his usual spot in the grass right beside the trap.
Fingers and everything else crossed.......
Fifi
I'm not a cat person, but I hope everything works out for your little one. Are you standing with your nose pressed up against the glass waiting for something to happen?
Fiona - chill out whenever you can get here - it makes things much better in March!
Hi froggers all. I've brought some more Moet with me so raise a(nother!) glass to PM and the nominations. Great news. I'm sure it's mainly down to us (though maybe the birdsong helped a tinsy wincy bit).
Fifi - any news of Blackie? Our lovely Cola (now passed on, sadly) got run over several years ago and went to hide under a hedge - I think they do that for protection when they're ill. But we found her and after a few days TLC she recovered completely. I'm a black cat fanatic so do keep us up to date with news (I must be a witch - sorry, witchiwoman!)
Hooray - MadMary is still around somewhere because she just wrote on an earlier thread today in March.
Annasee - you will still frog with us when you're down under, won't you? My one and only sister lives down there with all her family but we keep in close touch and see her quite often too. Just btw, Emirates out of Birmingham fly nicely - sister likes travelling with them. Only prob for her is that when she comes here she shivers with the cold all the time. Blood thins down there! I have to keep warm overcoats at the ready, even in high summer.
Oh dear, back to work again. So much goes on here and at Jonnie's and on the PM extra site I wish I could stay longer. Never enough time! When are the PM awards being announced? I'd love to be there but am happy for some of you to represent me - Fifi, BigSis, Ffred, Si, RJD, Jonnie, Gillian, Ed, to name but a few!
Fifi - yes indeed, much crossage and sending healing and happy vibes Blackies (and your!) way
Feeling a bit peeved now - had a quick look at the Sony Awards website (instead of getting on with my work!) and see that that John Humph person from Today is up for TWO personality awards. Why isn't our Eddie there? He should be.
Perhaps there should be a Special Award for him as Blogger of the Year.
Btw the results come out Monday, I think.
So glad Blackie's back, Fifi. Hope he continues to revive.
Have some more Moet.
Monday 30 April that is. We've got a long wait.
sara - no apologies needed!
Hello!
Good news about the kitty cat -- keeping everything crossed he climbs on in.
Welcome back everyone who's been missing (although I welcomed Si back the other day and he's already picking a fight with me in the furrowed Brow! Grr!... If you're here on the beach Si, here's a beer and we call a halt to the politics, OK?)
A, x.
And then there were !
Ed I - Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's absolutely blooming marvellous! I can't wait to get my tambourine out at the weekend!
Ed (159) Fifi and Perky - it just gets better and better!
D*mn and blalt I just got a malicious posting warning. The trouble is you then wonder if it's worth re-typing your frivolous comment. What I said was something like -
John Humphrys up for two personality awards??! One of them must be for 'grumpy beggar* of the year.' Anyone care to suggest what the other might be?
* feel free to change the vowel if the mood takes you.
Now I must away to do my norwegian homework.
Ed - thank you - I've just managed to listen to your wizardry. How fantastic - let's have lots more contributions!
The sun's out, so there's some pitta bread and a variety of fillings on the bar - feel free to add to the spread, or take some away to nibble on. Back to March now and demanding children!
Listening to the link at 159 as I type, thanks Ed!
THERE IS NO MALICE IN MY SPEEDINESS
Thank you all for your kind and healing thoughts. Keep at it .. he seems to be getting better. You are wonderful!
Has spent whole afternoon here, lazing in the sun, and drinking milk and egg yolk by turns. Not the slightest interest in the trap of course .. he's not stoooopid.
A friend's daughter was a vet.nurse for 3 years. She reckoned it's likely to be rat poison, partly because with fields & drystone walls the village often has rats.
That being the case, she says Vitamin K is the antidote. Which can be got from milk -- clever Blackie! I've given him some egg yolk with a little cream too, for good measure.
Back legs still not up to scratch, but much MUCH better than yesterday. And he's doing a little light grooming too, which is a hopeful sign.
I doubt we'll ever get him to the vet's though. Little rugger!*
More later. I'll be at Cransleycam if anyone wants me.
Fifi
* Fifi Rhyming Slang.
At last, I've got a connection long enough to listen to the wonderful song. Well done all of you, pure magic.
Annasee. we shall miss you but the joy of the internet is that you can still join in. Minjew there are lots of snakes in OZ ug.
AAnnie and LadyPen, nice to hear from you again. And can I have slice of the cake please. I've brought some chilled amontillado and tapas, just for a change. Now have to rush off and see what threads I've missed since this am.
hugs to all
O, and I am thinking of little puss, poor little beast.
Has anybody else noticed, there's now a link direct from the Front Frog Page to the Froggers' Refuge?
Think the Sony nominations swung it?
;o)
Fifi
PS Blackie grooming quite a lot now.
Yes, Fifi - I noted it on the current link and also that I'd left latte and champers Chez Jonnie for froggers .... A notable event!
Thanks Richard, Thanks Marc, Thanks Eddie ...........

WHAT's WRONG WITH WADEBRIDGE??
Is it an early April Fool
Good evening everyone :-)
Witchiwoman, *great* to hear from you, sorry I didn't get to the beach earlier today. Bucks fizz: you star!
Fifi - so glad Blackie is pulling round. You've made me pay more attention to my 2 aged mogs today.
ValP (146) - congrats! - must be liberating, eh? Still plenty of gin left, tuck in. Have to confess I've switched to WW's bucks fizz - I'm another HM girl for whom champers is the drink of choice.
I've made spinach and ricotta filo parcels - home made pastry too! There's no nutmeg in them - I just don't get on with nutmeg, whatever the recipe says. They're little enough to count as finger food and are therefore, by definition, zero calorie. And there's dozens of them. Just nicely warm. Tuck in, everyone.
"Welcome to Wadebridge, one of North Cornwall's main market towns and gateway to the Camel Trail, now the third largest attraction in the whole of Cornwall."
Hahahahaha! Hahahahah! Oh dear! Hahahahaha!

We've got a froggadge!
talking of frogs...um our tadpoles have got legs!
How exciting!!! :-))

MPB - glad to have your shoulder, couldn't shift it alone!
Well, I've had my Dominos (other pizzas are available) large "serves 3-4" plus free garlic bread.
And now I'm off to bed for a cherished early night.
Hope you have fun on the beach tonight, if anyone can break back in.
Anna x
ps I feel a bit sick. Dunno why.
Fiona, (147) If you can download the song and play (at the pm blog extra site) from work and save it to portable device. Take it home and play it through headphones on your home pc. Then if have an MP3 player there is a way. You could use the MP3 as a recording device. (I think) . Quality may not be great but I don't think thats the point of this. I still have to commit my tones. Must get on with it. As Lauren kindly explained to me how to whistle I should be able to have a go!
Alternatively play through the MP3 device and record onto your decrepid pc. Save track and e mail it back.
I've just had a pleasant beer so must be that that is giving these creative fixes. I should really be sorting out bank statements etc. Nah! Another beer anyone?
And yes fifi I noticed the link to blog extra above
etc etc???? Wots that then? Goin incogkneetow, Ladee Dee? Mancheshter is mie ome, init. Mancheshter is mar frends ome, init. Yu got frends there? Dowt it. Yu got enemees there? Definite! Me an me frends, init. Cum on, ladee Dee. Arm waiting!
RJD (171), I really, truly, thought you were making that up, but unless you went to the bother of constructing a web page to kid us all.. . blimey!
("Blimey" appears to be my word of the week. Sorry.)
Have I missed something? Why's everyone talking about Wadebridge?
Can anyone give me any recording tips for the Frogger's song please? I've downloaded the software that Ed I recommended, and imported the song so I can listen quietly and sing along, but the input volume is really quiet and when I turn it up so I can actually hear it, it's full of hissing.
I have a mic plugged into the computer and have chosen 'mic' as the input and swtiched 'record volume' up to max and I'm singing very very close and quite loud.....
Any tips very gratefully received!!x
MPB (172) That is not a double chin; that is a double sized smile! Excellant news about the tadpole legs. Please keep us informed about future developments. :-)
H.
Ap(177) & Gossipmistress(178)
No, nothing to do with me. It's Camellia (169) - I could hardly type for laughing. "Delightfully bonkers" doesn't attempt to describe her!
Annie (162)
Use the 'back' key when you get dissed, and you won't lose your typing.
GM (178),
1. You should import fifi's original into audacity (project/import audio).
2. plug headphones (if you've got 'em) into the computer, and you should be able to hear the original when you 'play' the track.
3. Add a blank track (project/new audio track.
4. Repeat 3.
5. On left end of top new track, where it says 'audio track, press the down triangle and choose 'make stereo track'.
6. Set cursor to left hand end of new stereo track, set output volume to comfort in headphones, input volume somewhere between 5 and 7.
7. press record (red button) and sing along.
This assumes you have headphones and that they can be plugged into your computer. It also assumes your computer has an inbuilt microphone.
If no headphones, turn down 'output volume' as low as you can and still hear to sing along.
Other arrangements are available, of course.
xx
ed
P.s. Under edit, there is plenty of 'undo' and under project, you can make a 'quick mix' and play it to see how well you've done . Then you can 'undo quick mix' and select fifi's original, go to project/remove tracks and then file/export as mp3, and that's the file you send to Jonnie and/or Fifi.
Other advice is available.
GM (178),
More hints and tips at in the tech chat bit.

Morning all -
Selection of cereals, fresh fruit, coffee(s), croissants etc on the bar . . . sun just coming up over a calm sea, little warm ripples to lick your toes (stoppit RJD), camels mooing (or whatever it is that they do) softly under the palms, distant sound of a happy dog barking as he chases the waves, EdIgle practising his harmonies in the treehouse . . . who could ask for anything more (or better)?
Annasee am sooooooo glad to hear about your tadpoles' legs. You'll be having to buy shoes for them next, mind.
I have a new mobile for w**k so now all I have to do is find out how to make calls. Daughter has already discovered a ringtone on it that sounds suitably froglike, which is fun and should confuse everybody nicely when it goes off in meetings - it was either that or a laughing baby but we decided that people would look at me oddly and call social services if they thought I had a baby in my handbag.
Fifi - I hope SBC (small black cat, as opposed to 大象传媒) is well this morning.
And will you all stop talking about cake, please?
The song sounds wonderful but I can only hear it with Fifi and Perky. Is there a link to the one with EdIgle on it too?
xx
LadyPen
PS PM - May contain nuts
Mornin all
Rare trip to the beach in the morning for me, nice to see some friendly faces around.
Fifi - how's Blackie?
Re the song... could it cope with some violin accompaniment, do you think, or are only singers & guitarists (and whistlers??) welcome? Mind you, no idea how to record onto pc... I know there are instructions floating around but I haven't had chance to get to grips yet.
Black coffee, anyone? Fairtrade, freshly brewed.
ps where did the sun go??
Ed I - thanks, I'll try that
Am using external microphone - does that make a difference?
Will report back friday night = next opportunity to record without bothering the neighbours!!
Excellent news about the tadpoles!!
Good morning all!! Whats all this about Wadebridge - its a lovely little spot (fab shoe shop, lovely cafe and one of my fave pubs....when I get a chance!)
Thanks for the brek bits LadyP; am grabbing a quick Earl Gray and leave the rest here for non coffee drinkers! :)
Today could be quite challenging; a final health 'review' and last session with therapist...I may be retreating here quite a lot today!
Fifi - so glad Blackie is sounding better (and decreasingly feral...have you been adopted!!)
Witchiwoman - oooh, good luck... you should be feeling oodles of warmth coming your way across the ether right now. Will be thinking of you all day. Do let us know how you get on. Odd how being signed off ought to seem completely positive but sounds so daunting.
Come and join me on the big bean bags whenever.
Anna xx
ps bergamot at the ready
GM (185) I recorded mine using my Skype headset, which counts as an external mic, I think. It took me a while to crack the recording though - i had to have several goes, and then I had to turn the individual track volume up quite a way before it was the same volume as Fifi's original. Good luck next time round!
Thanks for the coffee, Anna, much needed and appreciated. Have a go recording your track - it's not as complicated as it sounds at first and its a lot of fun!
The tadpoles are currently eating their food in an hour! And I can tell you I'm not very generous with the food. They only get a tiny pinch.
Got a joke.
" What did the caveman say when his candle went out?"
Dunno?
"Bother it's still ages till the light bulb is invented!"

ps. I quite like that double smile now!
Wadebridge - An explanation.
You will remember that Cammelia, Lady Dromedary (God bless her), has occasion to periodically visit the Hice of Lords. The nature of her business there need not concern us today.
It would appear that she is somewhat disturbed by recent rumours of the Hice being moved to Manchester (Her Ladyship's 169). The good Lady鈥檚 opinion is that Wadebridge is a much more suitable location (See my 171 for details).
Now read on.
Witchiwoman! I'm wearing shoes right now from that shoe shop in Wadebridge!!!
I agree, I come to the area around Endellion every year and it's lovely!
RJD (190) Ah - got you....
Well, I'd second the motion. If I were in a position to do so!
Hi there everyone.
For those who are following Blackie's tale, he ate about half the egg yolk yesterday, and of the creamy milk ... smallish hedgehog came along later to finish it off! ... but no sign of him today yet.
Blackie, like me, is more owl than lark though, so I'm not going to worry just yet. But it's obvious he's far too wily to fall for the humane trap! Ignored it, and its yummy catfood bait, all day.
Thank you all for your good wishes. The little s*d doesn't appreciate any of it but I do!!!
Anna Rex, violin accompaniment on the song would be gorgeous. Go for it!
Also, any other instrumentalists or bashers of saucepans etc are equally welcome.
The weirder the better!
Fifi
Perky - hello :-)
I don't have a Skype phone, so am stuck at what to use as a recording device; is there something cheap I can use to plug into pc? I have ARWizard software which may help? Just point me to the tech advice, would you?? Thanks for the encouragement!
Just made more coffee; it's becoming one of those days. Can't tell you about it, as it involves use of the w**k word. (RJD, no, not that 4 letter word starting in w and ending in k. The other one).
Just mixed some massage oil with bergamot & lavendar essential oils, it's in the sun warming up. Whose need is greatest? I'm only going head, neck & shoulders this morning. May do feet this evening, but only if you paddle first.
Lady Pen (183),
See 159 ;-)

or .
Anna (194) you have already reached the limit of my technical capabilities. Some PCs have an in-built mic that you can use, but I'd suggest you speak to my current guru, Ed I, either at the beach here or at the Froggers' Refuge beach (there's a link now just underneath the WOYW galleries up there).
Fifi may also be able to help, if she gets a break from the poorly cat. I hope you can get something sorted; I'm itching to hear the next mix!
Anna Rex (194) Me, me, me! Please!
I had a traumatic day yesterday, with mother-in-law thinking she'd had a stroke, but hadn't, and I've been on my hands and knees cleaning the bathroom floor this morning. I need lots of lavender but am prepared to wait in the queue if anyone else's need is greater than mine.
Regards you techie problem....click on the link to Froggers refuge. (Top right, above archive) Then click on that Beach and you'll find lots of advice.
My first instinct was to do it the old-fashioned way....on a cassette tape on an old radio/cassette player. Problem....our newish ones don't have anywhere to plug a mic into. Ho hum.
Anna Rex (194)
What's your computer? Most fairly new laptops (mine's almost a 3 year old) have a built-in microphone. Even older computers have microphone inputs at the back and usually headphone/speaker output sockets.
Maybe it's time to treat yourself to a headset for when you do eventually go onto skype (I probably never will), or a cheap set of headphones and a cheap microphone (if the 'puter ain't got one)
You can then follow the instructions I posted earlier. (181).
Good luck and keep trying.

Having heard you sing, I could not disagree with you more! BTW as of yesterday there was still no sign of a certain round object with a hole in the middle. Could you check at your end that someone has not cashed the cheque and then forgotten to send the goods?
H.
Anna Rex (and other froggers): a word of caution about sunbathing after use of herbal massage oil - some can cause bad reactions with the sun and should be avoided :o{ - So, extra time in the Bar, mayhaps?
Humph (199) Much as I sympathise with you, I think it was indelicate of you to complain in such a manner. Surely a personal e-mail would have been more appropriate?
I wish it to be known that I have recently received said round object, and my cheque has not been cashed yet.
And you're right about the lark ;o)
Anna Rex (194)
Week, Wink, Walk, Weak, Wick . . .???
Perhaps other froggers would like to join Camelia and her pals in a quick cycle down the trail in the direction of Padstow?
Lovely estuary views, and no steep inclines. Cycling heaven.
AnnaR - oh yes please....first part of todays two part trauma over so massage much needed!
Perky (188) Thanks, sounds like a smiliar volume problem to mine. Did you have to edit out any background hiss?
Gillian (201) It was not meant as a complaint, just passing on a request to see if someone had erred. As I was referring to Fifi's singing, it seemed an appropriate place to put a BTW. I bet that having now raised the issue, I will find said object on my welcome mat when I get home this evening.
H.
GM (205),
There is a 'noise reduction' under 'effect' on the audacity system. It's self-explanatory.

Dear Humph and Gillian
Fear not, the famous Fifi rhino-like epidermis wasn't even tickled, let alone pierced!
I have dropped a quick email to the bass player, who has the rest of the round objects with a hole in the middle, and was to be posting Humph's last week.
As the BP works shifts, and keeps getting presented with double shifts (caring professions are tough on those who do the caring!) it may be late before he gets the message. And it may be the reason he might not have sent it yet.
And neither cheque is cashed yet, because (no offence intended here) I thought I would wait till I have a bigger one to send in the envelope at the same time!
..unless I get into town and visit the bank in person of course. It's been known.
However they're digging up the town in the name of 'improving it' so parking is even more a nightmare than usual.
Still no sign of Blackie. It's cold today, so he may be a bit too stiff to walk from wherever he sleeps to his snack-bar.
Worrying a bit. :o/
Fifi
Fifi -
Am sure Blackie is just liking his wounds, so to speak! He sounded as if he was making great improvements yesterday. Fingers etc still crossed....any idea how old the little fella is? Kitten sized or rangy tom?
Hello All
Have been away from the lillypad for a while and just lurked by again recently. It struck me on reading of all the recent developments, new people, developing relationships, and award nominations (congratulations all), that the next great development for the froggers is for someone to turn the whole thing into a serial/play/novel/opera. Read objectively, it makes a compelling piece of drama. However, knowing my penchant for stating the blindingly obvious, I apologise if someone has already thought of this.
btw like the song Fifi
Big Sis (203) Yes & fantastic fish'n chips or a Rick Stein Pasty when you get to Padstow Harbour!
I have had a tiring day folks. Nice to see you all hera but plesae don't think me unsociable if I just snooze in this hammock with a big hat over my face.
Fifi re Blackie - aged father-in-law, very much a cat man, believes they are their own doctors and will find a place to recover in their own time. He had one that had adopted him and then was hit by a car and had both back legs broken. It made itself a nest under the hedge and remained there until the legs were weight bearing again. I suspect he was popping out to feed and water it from time to time! So try not to worry too much if you don't see Blackie for a while.
Little poorly cat update : still no sign of the wee guy today. I suspect it's too cold, and he can't summon the enthusiasm to trek all the way to Fifi's Snack Bar.
If I knew where he sleeps I'd take some milk around but the fact is, he drifts away over the wall, across the next 2 gardens, and we never see where he goes after that.
Trying desperately not to worry. :o\
Thanks Froggers for your soothing counsel. I'm picturing him having a cosy 'day off' just snoozing and occasionally taking a drink from, oh, let's say a nearby puddle.
How old is he? Well, he came to us fully grown (although small, just like my first black cat Spooki who was a runt and abandoned) about 6 or 7 years ago. Short wheel base, short legs, quite kittenish in outline.
We assume he's a him because he's never been pregnant ... and clearly too fearful ever to have been caught and neutered. But unlike some other feline visitors he doesn't spray everywhere.
Fingers still crossed, which is doing nothing for my typing skills!
Fifi xxx
Thanks for all the encouragement to try recording: I will give it a go. My laptop is a Dell; some of you will know it is only a month old, after I killed the last one with chenin blanc (such a waste...)
Witchiwoman - good on you, hopefully by now you'll have achieved Part 2 of your mammoth day. Thinking of you. (see below)
Been a but busy with massages today! Plenty of oils left, though (Big Sis - thanks for the reminder about sun safety).
Suggest you all wait for me in the bar; I'm off to what should be a fab concert tonight (listening, not performing, for a change) so will be back to do more much later. Hopefully a few of you will wait up for me - the massages are worth the wait! Gillian badly needed hers - nightmare of a time. Can someone fix her a long coctail in my absence. Drink plenty of water too, though.
WW - if you won't be on the beach later tonight, please leave me a message in the sand, just so I know how you got on, brave & strong woman xx
GM (205) not really, although I did have the mic quite close and I was in a very quiet room. You might want to check the settings (don't ask me how to do this, just play around with it!!!!) to see if you can reduce background noise.
Sorry to be so little help......
Fifi
Just caught up reading through what I've missed; concerned to hear Blackie hasn't been seen today. Has been bone-chillingly cold today, though... could completely understand his deciding to stay put vs going for a walk in the cold rain. Still, you must be worried. Fingers crossed.
I've sauteed some fresh tuna for dinner; left a bit on the bar for you to feed Blackie when he re-emerges.
x
Anna Rex.......aaaaahhhh! Thank you for that lovely massage. It worked wonders, and got me out of the terrible strop I've been in all day.
I've left a pot of nicely-iced hawthorn and limeflower tea on Nick's bar for those of you in Anna Rex's queue - it's for relaxation and tranquility. Let the healing begin!
Witchiwoman, I hope all went well for you today.
with best wishes to all from my part of the whirld...phew...
...hope Blackie turns up this evening, Fifi. I am listening to the trio - Fifi, Ed I, Perky - it sounds just brilliant! Am being inspired to search for a microphone, but will practice practice practice first.
may well soon doze off in the sun here...and do a passing immitation of Appe under a big hat (!) well, as far as the big hat goes...
isn't it just wonderful, sometimes, just to be?!
Still no Blackie.
:o(
Fifi
Oh Fifi.... Big hug and everything crossed.
Gillian - you're welcome, always glad to have happy customers. The iced tea is delish.
Just back to the beach after a truly wonderful concert. It's all very quiet. Have my massages left you all in deep sleep? Can happen.
Some of the camels are showing disturbing interest in my selection of oils & extracts. I draw the line at massaging anything quite that hairy.
Wow - what a lot of reading on the Beach since last I got here!
For those who are interested - the cake was (still is, just a little) absolutely divine, and despite all my worst efforts, it turned out looking superb too. TD was most impressed. I did plan to do something clever on the top, but time got away from me, so made an A (her initial) out of 18 candles. Looked effective enough! Specially when lit.
Fabulous family night out last night, and tonight she's out again with the friends - got phone call just after she had been forced by restaurant staff to stand on the chair while the whole place sang Happy Birthday! Just up her street, the little Drama Queen :o))
Talking about singing, do we have a cut off date for contributions to the FrogSong? Too busy to try at the mo, but I'm letting all the techie info slosh about in my subconscious.
Love to all poorly cats and Froggers, here are a few bottles of the sparkly stuff and "Here's to us, whae's like us....?"
Hope he shows up hungry and perky tomorrow Fifi.
A, x.
Have posted this on Motorcycle thread and Brow, but am posting here in case there are froggers lounging in the early morning mists(!)
A topic I'd like taken up arises from a piece in Mary Seighart's column in yesterday's Times. She wrote:
"Recently, I wrote a column about the disappearance of older women from television. Their male contemporaries, such as Michael Parkinson, Sir Trevor McDonald and Alan Titchmarsh, are allowed to continue as national treasures, but women, in the main, get locked away in the safe or exiled to radio not long after their first wrinkle appears.
"Now it is Moira Stuart's turn. This serene newsreader used to do all the 大象传媒's morning bulletins. Then she was restricted to the Sunday ones on Andrew Marr's programme. Now she has lost that job too. A fine reward for 25 yras' service at the Beeb.
"According to the newspapers, she is only 55, younger than Jeremy Paxman. Her Who;s Who entry does not even have a date of birth: perhaps she saw this coming. But, when will the 大象传媒 learn that at least half of its viewing public want to see some women of wisdom and maturity on their screens, and not just bimbos who play pertly and prettily to the older men who sit next to them?
"We female viewers feel insulted by the airbrushing out of our gender after a certain age. The 大象传媒 is a public-service broadcaster and it makes great play of consulting its licence-payers. Perhaps the corporation would deign to listen to us on this?"
Ms Stuart, incidentally, presented a fascinating documentary last week about the roots of slavery. I, for one, would be extremely sorry to see her disappear.
But this is an issue of concern to many, and not only women. What do others think?
Zzzzzzz. Zzzzzzz. Zzzzzzz.
Agree wholeheartedly Big Sis. Mature women deserve to be far better celebrated and used. their wit, humour and view on life can be robust, sensitive and life enhancing. I think it applies to radio too, or also, to avoid confusion. We have the redoubtable Jenni Murray, and Martha Kearney ( who almost qualifies as mature) at least MC is going onto a main news prog, though I shall be sorry to lose Sean Ley(sp?).
I think the Dilly Barlow pops up now and again, and Susan Marling, but not often enough.
any others I've missed..?
The male dominance needs leavening.
Take a letter...
No little black cat.
But next to the bowls of milk I left out overnight in the lean-to and on the patio, little white puddles -- not unlike when he's been struggling to drink from them.
Of course, anything could have done that. But a hedgehog would have drained at least one of the bowls (as it did the night before, without spilling a drop).
It's another cold and grey, misty day. No healing sunshine.
Cluck cluck cluck cluck cluck*

Good morning everyone!!
AnnaR - thank you! didn't manage to get back to the Beach last night but yesterday went a lot better than I hoped it would! Feeling a little strange today but pretty confident I can get through this next stage in one piece!! How was the concert.
Gillian - thanks for your wishes too! I'm hoping theres some hawthorn and limeflower ledt; sounds lurvely!
Fifi - well, you know what I'm thinking!!
Val P - knew it would be ok!
There are homemade flapjacks on the NC Bar along witha fresh pot of Chai; catch you all later, big friday hugs (it feels like that kind of a day!) xx
Oh Fifi - hope little Blackie turns up safe and well today, am sure he has just gone off somewhere to quietly recuperate and will return soon. Sending positive vibes.....
Oh and btw loved the frogger's song! Must try and see if I can contribute.
Was I the only one who thought Col Stewart last night was rather sweet in a old fashioned gentlemanly way! Ok I would properly hate to be patronised as such in the workplace, but is there really anything wrong with some good old fashioned chivalry!. It was also ironic I had just literally come off the phone to SO (who incidentally is still skiing in the Alps while I am running around in a even more headless chicken state than normal), and I had been really giving him a hard time about how much he takes me for granted and does not appreciate me (which has to be said has been the cause of quite a few heavy discussions), then I hear this man saying how wonderful and special women are - I just thought how sweet you are!!!
Anyway am on the home run now - SO back on Sunday. Am still suffering from sleep deprivation due to both children having relentless coughs so I am just going to have a nice large frothy cappucino - have brought along some toasted cinamon bagels with maple syrup if anyone would like one help yourself x
Big Sis (225) response on the Brow. Can I suggest that if you post in one place with pointers from others you would not risk splitting the discussion.
....
Oops just seen that the new Brow has just been created and Ed has re-posted it there. I'll see if I can re-post my reply just so we can have a single thread.
Val P. so glad both cake and partying went well.
BigSis & Auntie D;
I'm much in favour of 'older' women being given a proper outlet for their talents. Let's start with the kitchen, with a mop, hoover, ironing board and duster and cooking utensils...
**THWOCK**
**WHAP**
*sound of groaning*
Right, I'll stand up again now and take my tongue out of both cheeks. Must get something for the bruising and the cuts.
I'm a massive fan of 'Loose Women' (when I get a chance to see it) and 'Grumpy Old Women' (and Men). Sassy, smart and speaking their minds. Both populated by women, who if not exactly 'of a certain age' are not glamour-gal, blonde-bimbette, dolly-bird types. More of this kind of thing and I might be tempted to watch more TV, which I barely bother with these days. I love the intelligence and the attitude which a few years lend to their thoughts.
Si.
Anna (234),
A wee bit remedy stashed behind the shed. Mild, organic, and natural strength, but use with care. I'll join you for a toke.
xx

Anna Rex (234);
Scrumpy!!
Si.
Anna R -
Thanks honey! well, I'd recommend lots of rest, relaxation, hot baths/drinks and a dollop of Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice!
A swift half of of Simon's scrumpy, with an Ed's-Special chaser, taken as required in a deep Lush-scented (am I allowed to say that? soon find out) bath, with a side order of Mr Darcy.
What a prescription!
Oh boy do I feel better. Actually, perhaps you chaps better leave the bathroom for a while - I have Business to attend to with Mr D.
Thank you all xx
Si (235) Scrumpy? Not sure as a flu rememdy but as a way of sorting out a friday aftrenoon in March....I'm off to a hammock with a flagon
Fifi (209) they are digging up the road outside our house as well.
In the name of improving it as well.
The house STINKS of gas today because the workman have been digging up for gas and have been doing so for WEEKS :-/ .
Sooooooooooooo sorry about Blackie.
BBBBBBBBlackie??BBBBBBBBBBBBlackie??

GREAT NEWS re POORLY CAT!!!
He's lurking quietly in the falling-down brick sheds that back on to our lean-to. There are so many nooks in there, he may well be kipping overnight ... which would be a comfort to me, knowing he's not far away.
I really thought he'd gone, you know.
Thank you, witchiwoman, anna rex, Val and, oh, EVERYONE who's been sending kind positive and above all caring thoughts during all this stress.
You don't realise how much of a help you've been!
* huge group hug *
Fifi ;o)))))))))))
AnnaR - ah, a fellow Lushette....isn't it just the best!! I love The Comforter. And Fairy Jasmine. And Karma. And Sonic Death Monkey and and and...
Fifi - great news!
Great news, Fifi! I'd been wondering and worrying in between organising Eddie's makeover.
Give the chap an extra bowl of milk from us all (Blackie, not Eddie!)
Fifi - I have news for you. Your cat has moved. He can now be found on top of Eddie Mair's head.
/blogs/pm/2007/03/guess.shtml
Humph: about your round thing with a hole in the middle. The bass player says:
'It has gone in the post today. There was a slight delay because I was waiting for a suitable jiffy bag to come through the post, which it did yesterday. So fret not, he'll soon be scaring his neighbours.
Traaaaaa'
Might even get to the bank on Tuesday, as I'm in Pboro having my eyes tested!
Fifi
Ooo - what happened to Anna's 234 -- there are replies to it, but it's not there! Spooky!
Fifi - posted whilst you must have been in teh tender care of the mods...so glad furry one has reappeared. May the sun shine on you both this weekend and restore you after such a wearing few days.
Pssst! . . . . Psssst! . . . Over Here!
Help me out of here. This Anna Rex woman is toooo demanding. Is there a quick way off the Beach where I won't be spotted. . . . . Thanks . . . .You ain't seen me, right?
Fifi, that is excellant news - I mean about Blackie, not the round thing with a hole in the middle. ;-)
H.
Right ho you chaps. just get the old pipe going with this tobaccoish stuff here, then we'll design the landin' strip. Young Ginger and Algy will be along shortly to do the needful, move all this recumbent girly hammock stuff and set up a nice wooden hut for us to sit outside. Who's in charge of the tiffin?
These camels become more unruly by the day.
Now then, ladies. hands off Mr. Darcy, per-lease.
I've been in Mr. Mair's cuttings cupboard today and have got him untangled, just in time for a sundowner at the Nick Clarke Bar with my good pal Surely Battie.
aaahh yes, that reminds me of the time I was up there, upside down, with nothing on the clock but the makers name...
Right - thats me for the week....hope the camels don't get too unruly whilst I'm in March. Have a lovely weekend everyone (may be able to get in but just in case etc....)
Fifi - so glad Blackie's reappeared. I hope you have a more relaxing weekend now that you know he's about.
Tommy - I've put some Tiffin on the bar - please don't slobber all over it - and take those flying goggles off; you'll get your giant eyelashes trapped.
Blackie is tucking into some whole milk, and although still wobbly can now trot to safety, rather than crawl.
Hurray!!!!!!!!!
Fifi xxxxx
Champagne at the bar and lots of nibbles! The first ''letter'' read out about women at war was MINE!!!!!!!
I was so angry I fired it off as an e-mail last night, and forgot to sign it.
I'm behaving like a spoiled child right now!
Aperitif - I know, my 234 appeared then disappeared. There was nothing offensive in it! V odd.
WW - if I haven't missed you already, have a great weekend, come back soon, I'll save a couple of bath bombs for you :-)
Fifi, I'm deeeeelighted B is back. Extra milk on the bar for you. Or, rather, him. G&T for you - you must need one.
Right, Darcy, get yourself back here NOW.
Ed Iglehart, gentleman and perveyor of natural remedies behind the shed... um, when you said "use with care"... I seem to be a bit, well, wobbly. Or the sand is shifting. Or the shand is sifting. Think perhaps I need a fry-up. Anyone got the BBQ going yet tonight? I know it's a bit early... I think it's all that Darcy action.
Swoon....
Oi, who threw that bucket of cold water? Un called for.
Simon Worrall gets the first glug of the fizz as his''women at war'' comment was also broadcast.
Unlike my emotional, straight-from-the-heart rant, Simon's comment is reasoned, erudite and knowledgable, as usual. Between us we epitomise the range of comments on this Blog and prove once again what a wonderful Blog it is.....as they say, from the sublime (Simon) to the ridiculous (me)! Cheers!
Psssst! Psssst! I forgot to pick up my clothes. Any chance you could get them for me. . . . Yeah . . down behind the shed. Make sure SHE doesn't know I'm here.
Gillian (260);
I thank you! But surely you have the last the wrong way around? It's normally me that gets ridiculed around here.
Friday evening, so the bar has a variety of fishes and chips in the fryer. Mine's a scampi and chips ta. While I'm waiting I'll have a pick at the nibbles. Aha! Roasted cashews in crushed black pepper and sea salt. My favourite. How did you know, Gillian?
I had to wonder if 'Old Salt' had ever left the rarefined confines of Whitehall. Good old tub-thumping shoot-them-all-God-will-know-his-own stuff. And entirely foolish, given the evidence of the Iranian camera crew.
Wasn't it useful for them, having the videocam along when they went hurtling out at the drop of a hat to confront the enemies of the Islamic State, who had that very moment invaded their nation? Ah well.
Oooh, this fizz is good stuff, what is it? More please. Make it a double.
When I heard my name come out of the bag I was on the A1(M) between Newark and Doncaster. The shock was quite something. Although I've heard a few other familar names in the past somehow it's never going to be yourself, always someone else. And probably rightly so given the quality of posting on this blog.
I felt like jumping out of the car and streaking for sheer joy. Thankfully for the people of Notts and South Yorks reality intervened.....
Mmmm, thish ish luvvly bubblee. 'Nother glass plees, mine's a pint. Everything's gone the same rosy shade of pink as the champers. I'm fealing all lite-hedded and ....
Si.
Gillian, Simon, so impressed by you both. I was working so missed the prog altogether. Don't tell Eric.
BBQ's up to temperature; anyone for steak?
Gillian, don't give Darcy his clothes back, I'm enjoying news reports of semi-naked man seen fleeing the beach....
Hope he doesn't get too close to Simon's chip fat!
Si, I've brought a couple of magnums (magna??). Dive in. Don you jusht lohve zhe fact doo don get hanghova wiv champerzz.
oooh, fizzzzy....
Oh to hell with it. Its dark now, I can probably sneak along behind the bar. . . .
Bludihel! They're drinking champagne. Hmmm. Maybe I'll hang about. . . . No, on second thoughts I should put some pants on. . . .
HELLO! Any chance of a glass of bubbly? . ..
Fifi-
I'm DYING to heaar it but have people to dinner- can I listen now- would it be too rude ?
what if thry heard me joining in?
too embarassing!
Till tomorrow, then- ;-(
Well done, fifi-must dash!
Mollyxx
Ooh, the excitement - just realised there's another strapline up there. I can always tell when I ve been frogging too late at night, when the strapline changes...
Did my attempt at recording a bit for the Froggers song tonight, with technical expertise from SO. Carefully shut cat out of the room, so he wouldn't get his catnip mouse & yowl through the recording. So what did he do but spend the time attempting to tunnel under the shut door so he could get in to find said mouse. Luckily it doesn't seem to have come out on the recording.
Oh golly, look at the time.
Trusting Blackie to come out for milk when he needs it, I went off to host my monthly acoustic night ... and had a darn good time!
Now I'm firmly stuck at the top of a music-induced adrenaline high, having drunk nobbut tapwater all evening till I got home (then thoroughly made up for it ... ta for the champers, it were loooovlah) and I need to be up relatively early tomorrow.
Nightmare!
I'll cope though. You guys.... the best.
Fifi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
( I know ... but I do mean it. You're great!)
Good morning. Annasee, you've done it again! Great strapline. I'm really looking forward to hearing you on The Song.
My technical expert arrived last night so I'm hoping for a quiet time later on when I can add my bit. I'm afraid that will be another case of going from the sublime to the ridiculous!
Sausage sandwiches are ready.......pork and leek, Cumberland or beef and mustard. Brown sauce is optional!
Morning all, and congrats to Gillian and Si -- I did hear last night too.
Si, re I felt like jumping out of the car and streaking for sheer joy. Surely that's the kind of thing the beach is here for?... ;-)
Goodness - it's all too much! The thought of ex-navy people streaking across the beach!
I've just had a look at Si's photo on his website but alas the face pic is too big for BigSister to do one of her brilliant -head on a streaker- type of reconstructions. ;-(
I heard it all, and a credit to the frog, every one of y'all!

Hello Froggers!
Bit tired today, I think it was all that Darcy action last night....
Home made cream of celariac soup in a big pot on the bar, with freshly baked soft bread.
Fifi - how;s Blackie today? And you? There's a tank of hot water, some scented candles and a bath ballistic set aside for you when finally you get chance to rest.
Jonnie: I could resize ..... but I'd be too scared to do that to Simon :卢
Jonnie, Big Sis, naughty corner.
Gillian and Si congrats for last night's letter spot, and Annasee for the strapline.
Anna Rex not sure if congratulations are quite in order! but thanks for the soup - lovely.
Fifi, hope Blackie continues to make progress.
Anne P, you're welcome.
All I can say is, Darcy was impressed. Though he'll never admit to it of course.
Sis,
Even if you resized him, Si would still be a square head.
xx
ed
I don't mind if yuo give me the body of a bronzed Adonis (N.B. not Lord Adonis please!). It beats the svelte slender wobbly fuel tank I've currently got.
:-} ((.))
For those not in the emoticon know, that's a big belly. The stop is the navel, obviously!
Si.
Like this, ?
xx
ed
Si
fancy coming for a swim in the sea with me? I'm sure you don't reeeeally have a wobbly tum, but swimming's great for toning. Might even get bronzed!
I'm off to a concert (another!) tonight, so need to have a bit of a stretch before I settle down for the evening. Hope someone will save me something on the bar for when I get back...
Yowzer, just seen the photo. Clearly Si is in NO NEED of any toning exercise.
Either Blackie has managed to get the dribbling under control ... or more likely he hasn't had any of the food or milk I put out for him today.
I'm being brave though, because yesterday he was visibly stronger than the day before.
Tomorrow I will be out of contact all day. At 9.15 I will be clambering in an ungainly but highly amusing manner aboard the pillion seat of a motorbike laden with Easter Eggs, headed ultimately for Grantham.
Spent this afternoon helping to polish the bike (hey! that was never part of the deal?) so the driver has been instructed that there must be no muddy or wet roads tomorrow.
Thanks again for all your good wishes for the little cat, on and off piste. I'll endeavour to update you here tomorrow night once I've re-mastered the knack of sitting down with my knees together in a ladylike fashion........
Fifi xxx
Hmmm, Ed. You're on the right lines there.
Looks pale like a submariner who hasn't seen the sun for three months. Tick.
Suitably imposing. Tick.
General physique. Tick.
Classical pose. Tick.
Just one problem. Umm, how do I put this delicately? A little *smaller* would be anatomically correct.....
Anna Rex;
Oh yes I do.
Out on the mountain bikes tomorrow in the Peak District. Trying to lose some weight and improve fitness.
Regards, the Ed I photo job. Ah, if only....
Si.
Update at just after 10pm : really small dribbly spots around milk, signs of splatter around the soft catfood.
Blackie's eating better!!!
Cat Protection have also been in touch today, very supportive and at last giving some clear positive advice ... thank goodness.
As I disappear into the sunrise tomorrow morning, on the back of a Thunderbird, at last I feel as if things are coming right.
Oh please............
Fifi
Fi - be safe, whatever you do. I'm not keen on motorbikes :o(
Si - nice photo!
Gr8 excitement on Fig Lover this morning, she read out an email from my co-star on the Thelma & Louise Trips. I feel one step away from being famous!!!
Can I just say (if indeed anyone is interested) that I just felt the need to qualify a point I made in an earlier posting (230). Having caught up on some of the other threads it is apparent that there is a lot of very strong feelings against the views expressed by Col Stewart. In light of this I thought that my flippant remarks may have annoyed some and I sincerely hope not. I just wanted to say that I do not agree with his views in the context of the women in the forces (or indeed women in work in general). I just thought he sounded a nice, chivalrous gentleman, that's all......
Anyway am off to bed now with a large glass of ice cold Reisling and a magazine for company.
Night all
A very tired, stressed, lonely Fiona :-(
Ah, it's good to be back for a late evening stroll, digging the tootsies into the sand, scratching a camel behind its ear, sipping chilled English white wine (not my usual, I confess, but Sainsb****s had a 25% off wine thing going on today, so I bought some stuff I wouldn't usually. It's really not at all bad). I've left the wine on the bar - pour yourself a glass then come & find me.
Can't help fretting over Blackie. Poor fifi...
Fiona, Hun, don't feel bad. I for one wasn't at all annoyed. And anyway, we're all entitled to an opinion - 2 in fact (the initial one and then the "after I've had time to reflect" one. The two may or may not concurr).
Wish you'd join me for a glass rather than taking one to bed all lonesome. Mind, you've had a nightmare week, maybe you need solitary booze and a mag. But lonely isn't any fun.
If you can't sleep, give me a whistle. I've saved a hammock for you, and - if it's your thing - can do a wee massage.
Take care & sleep soundly
Anna xx
Fiona - hope you feel better in the morning. And that you get some sleep tonight. Have the children's coughs improved? (ie gone away, not got louder!). I used to find a teaspoonful of whisky in some very hot milk was good if we'd run the gamut of cough medicines without improvement. Failing that, a larger dose of whisky for oneself improves your own sleep anyway!
Good luck.
PS You may feel unappreciated, but just try being away & not doing any of the household chores for a few days, & see how much he misses you. Mine usually says something incredibly romantic like "Well the house got a bit messy, & there was always another meal to prepare". EXACTLY!!!
Si, I've had a quick go, but sadly your hands are in the way(!) ..... and I wasn't satisfied with the result.
I may try again in the morning. Never one to avoid a challenge!
And I see I'm the April Fool - Well, that's appropriate at least!
Hi all,
Hahaha! Nice photo Ed! But, um, does anyone else think that, due to the way it's lit in that pic, the willy looks like a face?
Fiona, hope you feel better in the morning. Hugs.
Fifi, be careful out there! I'm with Valery on this one!! (Good news about the kitty-cat though :-)).
Hey, is that a streaking Si and Anna Rex I see in the water? What are they up to?...
Brr, that water's a bit chilly
Aperitif: just havin fun ;-)
Fiona, hope you've had some decent zzzzs and are feeling a bit better today. Pull up a lounger, I've made coffee & pain au chocolats (well, it is Sunday).
I hope no-one gets 'got' too badly before midday on this auspicious date. Watch out for clingfilm over the loo if you have children under 10....
I'm off to do Palm Sundayish stuff; back for lunch though. Have a relaxing morning

Morning all.....and thank you so much for your kind wishes. I do feel better I must say after having a reasonably good night sleep (i.e was only woken up once during the night!). Anna - a massage would be have been lovely, I'll give you a shout next time I'm in need. Thought I would "escape" a bit reading a nice glossy mag but to be honest that just wound me up - why does these glossies never feature "real" women!! Its always articles about how women are struggling to balance their so busy lives - what with running their own interior design companies, struggling to keep their Kensington homes neat and tidy and play sexy wife to their investment banker husbands and wondering how to host the perfect dinner party......its just all too much isn't it!!! Aarrggh - why don't they ever feature women who work full time in the local supermarket, or who have simply office jobs and have "real" lives!!!! Anyway that's my rant over - am feeling quite refreshed really. So after my pain au chocolate we are heading out in this lovely sunny Spring day, bit of shopping and then off to the park.
Have a lovely day everyone.... x
Interesting , Appy!

Toasted crumpets on the bar, butter and low fat spread, marmite (for the "love it" crowd) in a separate cabinet (to protect the sensibilities of the "hate it" crowd). Raspberry jam too.
Would love to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon with sand between my toes but have to be elsewhere. Boo hoo.
BTW, I know someone else asked this, and I didn't see a reply: is there a deadline for contributing to the song? I, too, am letting the tech instructions fester in my subconscious, in the hope that I'll work out how to contribute. Would hate to miss out.
Thx

ps Fiona - but Dahling, we're all shiny-haired, flawless-skinned, size zero, happily married (to awesomely handsome, ageless men), with perfect offspring, a phenomenal s*x life, a nanny and a maid, a whirling social life involving banquets and canapes and champagne, and just enough work commitments to make us feel like we're contributing without actually having to break out into a sweat.
N'est pas?

Blackie is guzzling milk on my patio today, and loitering in the sunshine right outside the door.
He's also tried coming in, although alas I happened to be there and he thought better of it. Oh here he is again ... just a few feet from where I'm standing typing this....
Tinned cat food is apparently the thing. Pulls it out of the dish, then eats it on the floor. And he's still drooling so it's a bit of a messy business.
I've just managed to take a photo ... he'll be in silhouette but you'll get the idea. I daren't move yet.
Oh, it's so good to see him eating proper food!!!!!!!
:o))))))))))))
Fifi
Fifi - I think you can safely announce that you now officially have TWO cats! Congratulations.
Hooray, such a relief... well done Fi, for caring so much. How were the Thunderbirds?
Cheers EdIgle, I'll try to get my act together.
Fifi, I'm so happy for you - looks like you've been adopted! Better start buying tinned catfood in bulk ;-)
It appears to be evening and I appear to have opened a bottle of wine. There's a lot to be said for routine. Anyone care to join me?
Oh Fifi (297), that's wonderful! Brought tears to me!
And Ed (293), that's... disturbing! But I'm right, no?
