Is it my imagination or do all the above look much happier in 2007 than in 1997?

So, perhaps, Things Could Only Get Better!

Thanks to the above for sharing - they are lovely, and v. interesting, pictures, especially Clare's portraits.

Heavens Angi! You've been busy in the last ten years. Look well on it though...

Clare's portraits are fascinating. I'd love to know the significance of the eggs.

    Jonnie - simply charming!

And I'm still waiting for photos of Eddie to compare...

Well, these are nice. Tony has got the excuse that he's been running the country for 10 years. What's your excuse jonnie?

Sorry, that was mean. I don't they even had camera when I was back in 1997.

Oddly thats all far more interesting than the piece on last nights programme!

    Jonnie - like the shirt!

I think Jonnie has aged marvellously in the last 10 years - and I particularly like that shirt he is wearing there in the second picture.

In fact, everyone has aged really well and Angi - wow, have you had a single good night's sleep in the past decade?

I would contribute photos of myself but a) haven't got any b) I don't want froggers to recoil from the screen.

In 1997 there was about 3 stone more of me than there is now ... no, I don't think I'll be joining in this game thank you!

I was embarrassed by my mean joke that I lost the ability to write English. That was supposed to say "I don't think they even had cameras when I was back in 1997."

Slightly off-topic, but does anybody know anything beyond the hype about the former Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra? He's apparently interested in Manchester City. There seems to be a bit of confusion about the sort of person he really is. Anybody know anything?

Fifi (7) - See that 3 stone that you lost. Don't worry about it - I've got it. Do you want it back?

Jonnie - lovely to see your pictures!

Rachel and Angi - doesn't 10 years pass quickly when you have kids.....

Clare - thank you for sharing your self-portraits with us. I hope you didn't do the 2007 portrait just for the blog!

And yes, Rachel, I agree - Eddie's conspicuous by his absence. Let's hope he redeems himself before too long.

I love all this silliness... can I "work from home" every day? Can I?

We'll make it dollars then, RJD. $85 should just about cover it.

Love all the pics; it's nice to see such good ones of Jonnie in particular. Clare's portraits are great, but I don't agree she looks happier in 2007. In fact she looks quite perplexed. Now if I were sitting with all those glasses in front of me I would not look nearly so worried .....

I think I'm off to the beach for a quick slurp.

  17. At 01:29 PM on 02 May 2007, RJD wrote:

Chris the Pickle - Nah! You're forgetting that kilothingies ceased to be a standard metric unit following the Brest Conference in 1998. You should recall that centiwhotsits and millidodahs were also withdrawn. This was ratified by all European countries with the exception of Lindisfarne

In any event what you are trying to do is convert a measurement of mass into something of monetary significance, and that’s just silly!

I'm off to the bar on the beach for a pint of minutes.

Aren't these lovely? And well done to Clare, fabulous to see self-portraits. As for Angi - gosh! You look well on it...

Now, that nice Mr Mair. I'm sure I've seen a picof him looking a little hirsuit

No RJD, I wasn't trying to convert anything into any other thing... I was suggesting that you could do that. But if it's too silly for you, then maybe we should try to find someone who can deal with this level of silliness with more success...

    Eddie, are you there?

    Frances(20),
It does appear the mairster is keen on being 'cropped' in public photos. I wonder if he has a hangup and editorial control.

    Eddie?

I've had a few nights sleep - not that many it must be said - but I wouldn't have it any other way (most days!)

I'm waiting for Eddies photos too - rather conspicuous by their absence I feel.

    Re John (4)

I think you are probably right - however SO says it's a particulalry non flattering one of me - I only sent it as it was of the day.

I originally sent through two fabulous shots of me (doing a modelling pose) - but they were from last Feb. - so re-sent in the ugly one.

I love the portraits from Claire - but not sure about BigSisters comment - I think we all looked happier back then in 97 ?

Lovely photo's from everyone. Angi you look fab.

Thanks for the comment John H -- I tend to agree - and my SO has just seen it and said I look fat and pasty :-(

I did send a flattering one through to PM - 'could have been a model' - type shot, but as this one was taken on the day I thought I'd use the ugly one for honesty ;-)

Okay, okay, I have to agree that Clare, perhaps, doesn't look 'happier', but she doesn't look happy in either portrait.

Her work, however, is lovely. Just do a search and you'll find her. But give yourself time to look as there are galleries galore.
