The Glass Box for Wednesday
In the PM office we meet every night after the programme in this Glass Box:
We talk about the content of the programme and try to give an honest assessment of what worked and what didn't...the things we missed and the places where our ambitions were not met. THIS virtual glass box you are looking at is where you are invited - indeed encouraged - to be honest about our hour. Members of the production team will read it, and the editor should comment too. Click on The Glass Box link on the right of the page to read previous entries.
The item on the 'Jailbird' on Friday; you made him out to be a hero. I wish you would have asked him, "How lives did he think that he ruined when he was drug dealing"?
Nice interview with the mother of the phantom cocktail sausage thrower.

Re Sausage throwing youth.
As stated on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ news he has already been reprimanded by the Police three times. They didn't drag him away in a black maria (showing my age there) the first time he caused problems.
I am glad the Police, for once, did not try to be overly sympathic with his ADD. DAA or whatever.
The excuse for wasting police/court time over the boy throwing the sausage was that he suffered from ADHD and was again costing tax money in being treated. I wonder how much his sausage diet contributed to his "over-activity"
There is significant evidence that diet contributes to this hence the laltest Govt ban on fizzy drinks etc. But once again the adults/parents involved go to the state to alleviate the problem that they may have contributed to.

Hmm. 'The Glass Box for Wednesday.' I wonder what I'll find in there?

Everyone appears to have missed the most worrying aspect of the Youngs scampi story. They catch them off Scotland freeze them, ship them to Thailand, thaw them, process them , refreeze them and then ship them back to the UK (how many weeks or months does that take) and then expect me to eat them! No thankyou.
Guantanamo Bay:
I was slightly surprised that the conservative lady you had on hadn't thought of anything new to say since last week. Three times she said 'The government ought to let us know their intentions' - which I believe she said four times last time she was on. She had nothing to say then - why did you ask her back?

The carbon footprint of sending prawns to Thailand to be hand-peeled is the same as sending them down the road to be machine-peeled?
Did the calculation include the carbon footprint of making the ship that shipped them to Thailand... including amortization for all the other trips that ship will make?
Instinctively, this whole story felt so WRONG!!!
Fifi :o(
Never mind the miles, what's the carbon footprint of freeze/thaw/freeze?
There are folk drawing dole down the road in Annan because their jobs peeling prawns were exported.
Remember to put the sprouts on in good time.
