Below, with a new FAQ, the new log in system from Monday...
Our technical people have sent us this:
"We hope that the new system we are using (called 'DNA') will be much more stable than the old one, as it has already proved to be reliable in handling all the traffic from the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s message boards like the Archers and communities such as 606. This is the first time we've tried it on the blogs though, so if there are any teething problems please bear with us.
The new system has some differences, the main ones being that you will have to register with the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s Single Sign On system before you can post, and that the comments will be ordered with the latest comments at the top."
Well, I have just created my identity by going to the Today message board. So, fellow Froggers, I suggest you do that and add a few comments on the Today board to get used to the way things will change....
the blood, thats my DNA sample!
Question for Eddie: Will the Blog remember me or do I need to sign up again?

I think the "old" system knows what's happening. I don't think I've been able to make one comment today without getting sent to room 502....
A question, Eddie:
Do the regulars need to resubscribe too? And will we be able to keep our (now rather hackneyed) alter egos?
Another question:
Why doesn't the FAQs section cover the private arrangement concerning Fifi's straplines? You know, the bit about being on commission. Or is this a ´óÏó´«Ã½ state secret? How many guidelines does this contravene?
Just as well it isn't a competition, isn't it?
DNA has a fine pedigree, including Douglas Adams among its creators. (even if it is windoze/M$-based)
I look forward with bated breath.

Distinctive, adj.:
A different color or shape than our competitors.
"We hope that the new system we are using (called 'DNA') will be much more stable than the old one..."
Mmmm... didn't I read a couple of weeks ago that the UK High Courts have ordered a review of certain DNA technology because it's been found to be unreliable...
oh heck, I'm confused already!
Hmm.
wait and see, I guess.
DNA includes Douglas Adams among its creators. It's better than this mush, even though it's M$-based.

Ah. got it - I think I'm already registered. Wahey!!
Sounds like good news to me - The DNA system works quite a lot better in my experience..
Probably I won't bother trying again and again with this comment.

Okay - I'm ready - bring it on!
I'm going to be using the looooonger version of my name. It seems so much more ME, somehow! ;o)
Fearless: When I went to the Today programme to do as you suggested, I found that Big Sister has already been registered by somebody else. So I may have to become ThePMBigSister.
Drat!

Don't you mean "the bit about the rest of us being on commiseration"?

Roll-on 07 January...
I wonder, when someone has the time, could we "froggers" be told how the "PM" Blog came to be established in a format so different from that of "Today" and "Woman's Hour"?, whose format, it sounds like, "we're" now going to adopt...

Sis,
Maybe it's you and you forgot you registered long ago?

EdI: No, it isn't me. I know this from the 'security question', which I'd never have set (and didn't know how to answer). I've an idea, though, that it may be somebody connected to the Blog who wants to make mischief (though I may be wrong).
Big Sis (5) I tried to answer you yesterday but it was never posted. 1: I think you do have to re-register...the new system is brand new for everyone. And 2: well...the answer is clearly to send in more straplines yourself!
Eddie,
".the new system is brand new for everyone."
I look forward to that. The old (dna) one wasn't without its quirks. And "Server too busy" was sometimes as frustrating as its sibling (502).
Yours Aye,

Well after all these 502's anything will be better :-(
But I hope it keeps the look of the PM blog as it is now - it's so much more classy and restful than other ´óÏó´«Ã½ blogs (I prefer the colours to the ones on the iPM blog too!)
Will my "bookmarks"/"favorites" link to the PM blog still work? Come to that, will the links work from other Radio4 pages?
Will the blog not now move to:
/dna/pm/%7Bblog?%7D...
I have read through the FAQ again and I can't see the answer.
Now will I be able to post this? Will anyone be able to read it before the 7th (for that IS the day)..?
502 expected..
Pah! I sent in loads of straplines a couple of weeks ago. But no; Mr Blog is in love with Fifi and there's nothing we can do about it.
And, frankly, who can blame him?
huzzah! Thanks Fearless Fred - I'm indebted to you.
I went to Today and managed to snag "Whisht" which I just know is up there in terms of desirable identities, like, erm, like, like..... like "Big Sister" I guess.
Commiserations Sis cos I'd be gutted if I couldn't be Whisht. Its kinda nice to be reminded to shut up every time I think of commenting.
:¬)
mind you, as work is soon to start and probably be overwhelming (when ain't it?) then maybe I won't have much time here anyway....
In answer to those who are wondering about all those straplines ... I sent in a couple of job-lots in November and December, and it seems as if Blogsy is a stranger to the notion of 'randomisation'.
The last ones into the drawer are the first ones out, apparently ... and do I see a penny of commission for my labours? Do I heck!
If Frances is right (which I doubt) and Blogsy fancies Fifi ... I wish he'd find a more romantic way of expressing it. Chocolates, flowers, shiraz ... so much more likely to melt a frogger's heart than a pile of old straplines you wrote yourself!!
Fifi ;oD
Will it be available 24/7?
The Today 'discussion' has the distinction of being unavailable while the eponymous programme is on air.

Big Sis. Looks like I can't be me either. Upsetting to say the least. Perhaps LittlePMRed it'll be. But somehow doesn't have the same ring :o(
You could be Little_Red.

Well, so far the new blog looks very familiar... identical in fact.
Oh well, back to work today, I guess that requires a Furrowed Brow, maybe even an extra Beach to compensate?
SSC, it may be that we have to wait for Eddie to post a new thread...
Good grief! It all looks so different this morning!!! (maybe it's the snow...)
...Hello... hello
HELP! I'm stranded on the "old" Blog
Somebody, talk to me... PLEASE....
Posts are taking a long time to get through - is this a sign of something?
Was it so unreasonable to think things might be different this morning....ah well...
I'll go and deposit some breakfast on the beach if it's still there.
Ah - and a previous post has had to appear...plus ca change, or not as the case appears to be! :)
You could be Little_Red.or li'l Red

Are they?

ww (39) I'd say it's a sign of "business as usual"! :-p
Well, I have just tried to register via the ~Today site, and it doesn't allow names with spaces, so I had to become Vyle_Hernia. Also, I know I've never got around to fixing-up my own web site, but there appears to be no option to include same under one's name.
Ah. Now, can we use HTML tags in messages under DNA?
Big Sis, Little Red et al I think you can change your nickname at any time. Your Member Name will have to be Little_Red (or somesuch) but the name that appears above posts (your nickname) can be anything you want. (There'll be an obvious link at the top of the page where it says "Hi Big_Sis [change nickname]"
The only issue will be that in the ´óÏó´«Ã½ blogosphere there will be 2 people both called "Big Sis". But as long as you're on different forums then there shouldn't be many problems (I mean, its been obviously the case for a while now, that there are 2 people with the same name on different blogs but no one knew)
(this didn't get through the 502 yesterday.... trying again...
All:
Maybe the new blog *is* running and we just haven't been invited.
Ed I
Help! I've just been told that I can't be Molly anymore!
But hey! perhaps it IS me, if you get my (snow) drift.
(Teee -heee!!)
Seriously- how could I check this? I saw your advice to Big Sis.....
Mollyxx
Molly, And others,
1. Choose whatever username the system will allow, e.g. little_molly, or whatever.
2. Then when that's done choose whatever 'nickname' you like.
You may find you can be username little_molly, but nickname Molly. I don't know whether nicknames are as strongly required to be unique as usernames.
We'll all learn as we go.

Whisht: Yes, thanks for that - I've figured a few more things out anyway since my last posting on this, including the fact that I'm also Big Sister on the Today messageboard, by nickname that is ..... But somebody's username is Big Sister and, get this, their security question is "What colour is my bogie?", from which I knew that wasn't me ....
Anyway, as I already had an ID, and as I'd already registered Big Sister as my nickname, I shall retain that identity here, though I've also set up some alternatives by way of backup in case of 'fraud'.
Long Live Whisht! Long Live Big Sis!
