MAHOOSIVE week for gamers this week. Wednesday saw the launch of 2009, Europe's biggest Gaming Festival in Cologne. (Its our equivalent to the Big E3 in LA). This is where all the big gaming companies unveil their latest products, and you can get sneak preview demos on the big forhcoming games. Basically the Mecca for all things in the world of games.

Its a five day convention, which takes place in a massive venue that apparently is the size of about 8 aeroplane hangers and I even heard it can take up to ½ hour to walk from one side to the other, imagine the scale of that - Epic!!

So over the last 3 days we've been speaking to our very good mate gaming journalist Steve Boxer who writes for several well known newspapers and gaming mags. (Trust me he knows his stuff, what a great job - playing games all day long)!. Hes' been over there in Germany checking it all out.

Here's a sneak preview of just some of the big forthcoming stuff...

2 letters and 1 numeral is all I'm saying, this could be the next console to sit in my gaming room the PS3, but this time it's slim line and around £50 cheaper than the PS3. Hmmm...could this be a hit for Christmas?

Calling all gaming geeks (that's me!!) Star Wars 'The Old Republic' This sounds HEAVY I cannot wait to get my hands on this game!! EA have come up trumps with a game that plays very similar to 'World Of Warfcraft'. Now to even try to compare this game is a BIG statement, the following of 'World Of Warcraft' is phenomenal, Boxer was saying: "It's been known that people have forgotten to eat because they have been so engrossed with this game!" Wow, but you can now play another massive multiplayer Star Wars style!!! Live out a role from Star Wars and become a Jedi!!. I may have to put my life on hold for a week just to digest this one. No one tell Treble T about this, I think he might wet his pants.

Def Jam Rapstar - This looks as heavy weight as Tyson (in his heyday of course!). A rap game that sounds like it could be the X Factor for Hip Hop, karaoke Hip Hip Style, but done well. (FINALLY I hear you cry!). You can now live out your dream of becoming the next Young Jeezy, Kanye West or even T.I. If you're not up to scratch as I am, there is a practice mode where you can teach yourself to spit a few bars, plus battle mode!! where you can beat your mates down with lyrics. This part of the game blew me away, are you ready for this nugget of info... You can even record your performance using a camera and make your own music video. (blop blop blop)

Watch this space for a 1xtra karaoke night featuring Def Jam Rapstar... (You know its gotta be done - right)!!!

Mario and Sonic Winter Olympics is set to be another smasher, is this going to be on your Christmas list to Santa? I have actually had a sneak preview of this courtesy of Sega, check out the video.

Of course the Creme de la creme has to be ..... 'Project Natal'. You know we couldn't go without mentioning this baby! Announced at E3 a few months back. This sounds truely revolutionary, in fact... i think I need to pause a minute for this one....... this is incredible, this is technology at its best, if you haven't heard about 'Project Natal'? It's a cutting edge, motion capture infrared camera (pause) with a sensitive mic box that goes infront of the Xbox 360. It's like a X Ray machine that scans your skeleton, that then uses your impression, image to show you inside the actual game (pure hollywood stuff) then just by moving you are moving your character around the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big ...Massive... Heavy...boombarsey!! Ok no more silly words, I think you get the idea. This is so clever as it will only recognise human's so if while your scanning yourself and your dog runs past, it will not pick up your dogs image. Boxer got a demo of it and was really hooked!! (and rightly so, who wouldn't be?)

There are games that accommodate this intelligence, 'Burn Out Paradise' ok this is mad you hold your hands out like you are driving and yep you start to drive the car!!!!!!!!! Just imagine the neighbours watching you without actually knowing what you are really doing, that is too funny.

Phew... and this was just a few things, didn't even get to Modern Warfare, Avatar, Ailens Vs Predator - Too much stuff.

The Future is here people - GET READY!!

It's lucky I didn't go, they wouldn't be able to get me out of there. Big big massive thanks our main man Mr Steve Boxer - You did great job!!
