In today's short film, shot at Kingswood Warren last year, Quentin Cooper is introduced to the astonishing technology of surround video.Ìý Graham Thomas explains how in a short 'rapid prototyping' development period a small team of R&D engineers and scientists built this working demonstration of a potentially revolutionary new form of video recording and viewing.
With a mix of high tech broadcast equipment and some decidedly more 'down to earth' materials, the team have built a demonstrator that could make a profound impact on the future of what we watch.Ìý Possibly.Ìý We hope.

I guess so, in that the central focus on the TV being in 3D doesn't really change the surronding picture still being in 2D

It would work even better if there was a gentle merge between the detailed picture and the surround picture - obviously that would be a major undertaking. Oh - and the detailed picture could be in 3D.......!
