Wentworth wobbles mean nothing

WENTWORTH - lost on Thursday in a to Shaun Micheel of the United States.
It was not a dissimilar performance to in June. And remember, he then went on a 2nd, Win, Win, Win, Win, Win streak!!!!!! Let鈥檚 hope that Tiger will be similarly inspired for next week's Ryder Cup.
Tiger HATES to lose, probably more than anyone, partly because he has less experience at losing.
I expect Tiger is hidden away practicing with his coach, Hank Haney, at one of the more private clubs in the Surrey area. I would love to be a fly on the wall and know what they are discussing and/or working on!!!!
Rest assured, Tiger will be ready, I feel sorry for the poor souls that have to face his wrath come next Friday morning.
On another note, lost a very lopsided match to6&4. But it was due to great play by the tall Swede, who was out in 64 in the morning round.
Furyk, fresh off his victory at the last weekend, might not have been at his best after the victory and long journey. I can look across from my present position and watch Furyk and his faithful caddie, Mike 鈥淔luff鈥 Cowan, hard at work on the practice putting green here at Wentworth.
Mark my words, the Americans will be ready. Thursday was just a bump in the road, and possibly a wake-up call for the US team to prepare for a very tough and tight match in Ireland next week.

I`m sure the Americans are up for it but the Europeans are more up for it!

Was this crafty gamemanship by the Americans? Surely a total of a potential 144 holes if both Woods and Furyk got to the final is not the best preparation for the Ryder Cup?
Both now have a total of 7 days off to prepare, and rumour has it that Woods is that confident about the K-Club, that he is practicing today at the Grove ahead of the WGC event there in 2 weeks.

What would i pay to get a foto of Els n Tiger, trousers rolled up, feet dipping in the water, fishing by the 8th green pond. hehehe, just kidding. I know they both hate to lose, but such is MATCH-PLAY. Maybe they are over the fence at Els place, having a cool beer.

I hope Tiger starts exactly the same streak. 2nd next week!

I reckon the Ryder Cup will rest on how well the young American golfers react at their first Ryder Cup tournament and how well they handle the intense pressure.
I think Europe have the egde with the fact that they have been there before.
We'll wait and see what actually happens next weekend.

The Americans key player not on form like King Tiger, are you sure? He has just won 5 in a row, how many does he need to win to be on form? I hope we win to, but Mr Woods is on a different planet to the rest of the golfing Gods.

Remember that the Ryder cup is a twelve player game plus captains. Woods and Monty are important, but Wetterich and Westwood just as much so.

Errr.. Wobbles mean nothing huh?
I have to disagree and say they do- they dispell the 'Tiger' aura that he shrouds himself in when he goes on streaks like he has these past few months... Its definately a boost for the whole of the team next week, as now every player knows FOR SURE that he is beatable at this moment, and Furyks loss is also a boost since he'll be teaming up with Tiger.
Momentum and mood is key in Ryder Cups, so wobbles like this for the american's only bode well for another schlacking to be duely handed out by the european team next week.
Thats why it DOES mean something.
And Tigers rath? That will only last for one drive/hole and be subdued instantly when Monty lasers one next to the pin.

The US players don't seem to enjoy matchplay much, particularly the foursomes and fourballs where there is an important team element and Europe tends to build up a lead. However, this has given two key team members some useful preparation.
We'll see what happens at K-Club, but Europe have a great chance to register another win because the top Americans just don't frighten them any more.

Did he just say Tiger not on form?? does he follow golf or just think it would be funny to crack a joke! I reckon th states will take it by atleast three points next week!

It will be ironic if Shaun Micheel wins this week. The European Ryder Cup players will have exhausted themselves physically and emotionally to let an unpicked American win.
Once again I'm very disappointed with 大象传媒 coverage of Wentworth. No highlights again tonight. I got home this evening to get the end of the live coverage. This comprised of an interview with Paul Casey and then Peter Allis talking about the weight of Harry Bradshaw, Bobby Locke and Peter Thompson.
The 大象传媒 can do better than this!

The US PGA tour is a celebration of strokeplay, a story of the individual against the course. Consequently, US broadcasters are not comfortable with matchplay; they routinely report a stroke as a potential eagle, birdie, par or bogie; relating it to the outcome of the match is secondary. The on-screen graphics of the TV carrier only emphasize this point.
In short, Americans don't care if they win the Ryder Cup or not. Their tour is the centre of the universe. Winning there is all that matters.
As a result, any speculation on US failures at matchplay as a positive indicator of European success in the Ryder Cup is naive. It is not like watching the form of a Derby favourite. What matters is whether the US players care or not. From my vantage point I would say they don't.
The Ryder Cup is a diversion for the US players. If they do care, I think their individual ability will triumph, because threes still beat fours in matchplay.

It's the same old story going into another Ryder Cup. Go by world rankings and superstar status and our Yank allies are overwhelming favourites, but as proved in the past team-work and clever pairings are a winning recipe.
I think the belief is ingrained in the European team and a lot of that team is similar and stronger. The likes of Donald and Howell were nervous rookies last time but are now installed as world class performers.
I have always had a soft spot for Clarke and for obvious reasons I wish the lad all the very best. Monty to bring the bacon home!!!!

Americans are not concerned about the Ryder Cup? obviously you don't live here Sir. All the talk this past three months has been the Ryder Cup. I can assure you that they care very much.

For the first time in my living memory Europe enter a Ryder Cup as overwhelming favorites. Given that the last two ties have been won by a European side not expected to win or not win by many, then the under dog tag may be sorely missed as we are not good at being tagged as runaway favorites as is currently the case. America will take a great deal of hope and belief out of the fact that they have something to prove and as we all no Tiger, Phil and co all do that very well in singles every week.
Bring on the best team game on the planet. Bring on The Ryder Cup!!!
