London based trio have made a name for themselves over the years with drum n bass, downtempo, ambient, house, breaks, techno & left-field material but have focused entirely on their drum n bass output for new album "Natural History".
Ranging from dancefloor fillers to deeper beats, to complete the package they've also teamed up with Glasgow designer to give the album a definitive look and feel with his hand drawn artwork. He's put together this video clip to showcase not only the music but artwork concept behind the album.

Last week in Edinburgh Vic Galloway interviewed Jack White who was in town playing a gig with his new venture, The Dead Weather. The interview airs on Vic's Radio Scotland show next week, Monday 2nd November. Here's what Vic had to say about the interview, and afterwards the gig...
Vic:-
So today, I got to throw a few questions at Jack White - guitarist, singer, songwriter, drummer, producer and now film-maker.
I've met him before, but very briefly at T In The Park when he was playing with The Raconteurs in 2008. I don't think he remembered me... shockingly. I guess it can't have been the most exciting moment of his life so far...

Can it really be a whole year since Celtic Connections 2009? Well not quite, but this morning over bacon rolls and coffee in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, festival director Donald Shaw launched next January's festival programme.
The line-up is now live on the official . The international contingent continues to expand with acts coming from all over the world. Highlights include , a couple of big tribute concerts for old pals John Martyn and Nick Drake, Dick Gaughan goes dub (!!), a huge ´óÏó´«Ã½ concert celebrating Gaelic song and Ry Cooder teaming up with The Chieftains - but really those form just the tiny tip of a very big January iceberg. Read on for details of ´óÏó´«Ã½ activities...

If you are even slightly interested in electronic music, you should definitely watch Synth Britannia, available to watch until next Friday. There's also the traditional follow-up programme with full length performances from many of the featured artists.
For lovers of the bleep there's nothing quite like a proper vintage synthesizer. So, uber-geeks that we are, we thought it would be fitting to ask a load of proper vintage producers to tell us all about their favourite 80s knob boxes.
NB: Special thanks to online library of synths , a truly epic resource for synth freaks.
I've really been enjoying the debut album from a guy called which I bought by chance last week. He's a former Hip Hop Dj and this is his first outing as a singer. He looks like a geeky white guy but sounds like Smokey Robinson. He's a Motown nut and it's such a spot on retro production it's hard to believe that you're not listening to something that's forty years old.
Mayer Hawthorne plays King Tut's, Glasgow, October 24th.

I've been revisiting my grunge filled teenage years and listening to the new Alice in Chains album - "Black Gives Way To Blue". Their first in 14 years and the first to feature new vocalist William Duvall. Packed with as much power as their earlier work, Duvall's vocal style is very similar to that of original vocalist Layne Staley so long term fans will be kept happy. I had my doubts as to wether a new Alice in Chains album was a good idea but they were easily washed away upon the first listen.
Watch to find out more about the new album and why the band reformed.
I'm very excited about the full-blown release of Idlewild's new album. I've had it since earlier this year as I was one of the fans who funded the recording by pre-ordering it via - could this start a new trend? Over the course of seven albums the band have gone from lo-fi indie to anthemic, and they just get better every time.

While perfecting the art of twang, playing guitar in both and , Glasgow-based artist and musician Douglas Morland has been crafting these four tracks for his for seven whole years. He's spent that time cramming in far more ingredients than is sensible (eg Glitter Band drums, dub fx and yelping about vampires). Somehow it all works together to create a highly original and amusing psychedelic stew. Yum.

Pixies coming to Glasgow gives me the perfect excuse to escape from 'gouging away' at paint pots in my new kitchen on a Sunday night. I arrive on my bike to meet Simon outside around 8pm. I am shocked to realise that the last time I went to a gig here was Simple Minds in 1988. They were in their most ludicrous stadium phase and I loved it anyway (at 16 I didn't have much to compare it with). The SECC hasn't changed - still a giant shed.
Nostalgic feelings are appropriate as the Pixies' current tour celebrates 20 years since the release of Doolittle. Despite being their catchiest collection of songs it didn't get them the mainstream success later enjoyed by so many of their grungey followers in the 90s, none of whom were anywhere near as good, but it did win them a legion of devoted fans in the UK.

Nick Dempsey, Scotland's Music producer is out next week. It seems to be creeping up on me slowly, wasn't sure whether I liked it on first listen but check it out, a return to form perhaps. It's called Splitting The Atom and has quite a varied set of tunes on it. They've always worked well with guest vocalists and the standout track features TV On The Radio's Tunde Adebimpe. You can hear it in full on their website.
Bryan Burnett, presenter, Get It On, Radio Scotland After watching the clip of their Ricky Ross session I had to go and buy No Fool For Trying, the new album from Canadian duo . Their two voices work beautifully together and the often unbearably sad subject matter means the songs make a real impact on the listener.
Bobby Seiler, Content Assistant, Radio1 Getting excited about forthcoming documentary . The film brings together three guitar heroes from different generations to 'talk axe'. Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White talk over what turns them on when it comes to plank spanking. Directed by 'An Inconvenient Truth' helmer Davis Guggenheim.
