The countdown to Inside Sport

Post categories:

Amanda Farnsworth | 12:20 UK time, Friday, 31 August 2007

Thanks for your comments to my post of last week. Inside Sport's second series is nearly here, as it returns on Monday, 3 September at 2305 on ´óÏó´«Ã½ ONE.

If you look on the page on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sport website, you'll be able to see a sneak preview of our first big . The whole interview is a fascinating watch. Lawrence talks not just about what he calls his "addiction" to rugby, but also the tragic death of his sister, who died in the , and the effect that it had on his life and family.

Also in the show, we take a look at and we look forward to the crucial that Steve McClaren faces.

In this run of programmes, we've also asked one of our panellists each week to present a short column on an issue that's really got them going. This week talks about what's been happening in the in Osaka.

Now on to your comments:

Will there be a repeat on the Sunday still?
There is no Sunday version this time but you'll be able to watch the Monday version on the web and the programme will also continue to be shown on around the globe.

Will you be keeping the same titles and theme tune?
As ever, opinions divided on these but I'm afraid I haven't spent any of our money on changing them - I'd rather spend it on trying to bring you good stories and take you inside the world of sport.

Can you feature more on horse racing?
Yes, we did a piece on the Horseracing Regulatory Authority (HRA) last run and we are working on another story about jockeys for this run.

Please keep your comments coming. As ever, my inbox is open!

Sad to hear about the lack of a Sunday repeat - it made great watching.

Any news on whether Inside Sport will be offered as part of Virgin's catch up tv package?

Best of luck with the new run..

Noooo.
The titles are rubbish, the tune is dreadful!
You dont need to spend much money on the titles and music, well theres one tune thats been locked away since the programme it was used on was axed. (Grandstand).
The titles can be done on a computer, so money will be saved.

Glad to see you are doing something else on horse racing.

I think your only previous effort was fairly negative, so will be interesting to see how this one shapes up.

The ´óÏó´«Ã½'s whole attitude to racing is a very sore point with many people at the moment.

Let's not forget it's the country's second biggest spectator sport

All very well and good, but doesn't messers McLeish, Worthington and Toshack also face crucial Euro 2008 qualifyers too, or as usual do we "celtic nations" not count.

i mentioned rl last series but got nowhere.

the cardiff fiasco would have been a great item seeing it could have involved discussing video decisions coming to football.

i guess theyll have one item on rl in the week before the grand final.

no doubt theyll be interviewing their favourites sculthorpe and robbie paul.

i have just had the misfortune of tuning in to the BRITISH broadcasting etc. programme to find that, as per usual, the only interest in anything other than english sport is completely dismissed, we have a feature on dallaglio and the english rugby chances in the world cup, followed by a huge whinge about the detrimental effect on foreigners on the english football team with hardly a mention of Scotland or Northern Ireland's chances of qualifying. If the EBC insist on reporting 99% of english sporting news then surely the rest of us should only pay 1% of our licence fee. For heavens sake 1966 is a very long time ago and please remember the average english football fan is still in the pub at this time of night.

Any idea when Indside Sport will be shown on ´óÏó´«Ã½ World? I've just checked the schedules for Hong Kong and can't find it anywhere.

Also can we please get Football Focus back on ´óÏó´«Ã½ World??

Was it foolish of me to think that there may have been some mention to one of the biggest sporting events taking place in Europe over the weekend; Namely the All Ireland hurling final, played out in front of 83,000 fans in Dublin on sunday.

Yawn. Same old stuff. I think the ´óÏó´«Ã½ should just change the title of this programme to "Inside English Sport". Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales all qualifiers this next week - not a peep. Wales and Scotland are in the Rugby World Cup, not a peep.

Worse I suspect that in this series we'll see - interviews with Tim Henman, David Beckham, some English cricketer, Steve McLaren and the rest of the crushingly predictable faces that crop up in things like this.

The Tour of Britain starts Sunday in london ,will you be reporting on it aswell as the world mountain bike champs in Fort William Scotland ,all of which will be shown on ´óÏó´«Ã½ sport i believe ,but in the case of the TOB ,once it has already finished on the 16th !Which is a shame as it is a poor way to build up intrest despite over a million road side spectaters, some all be it ill informed woosh it's gone then we will mention it , a bit poor i think !

Amanda,

It seems there is some misunderstanding between ´óÏó´«Ã½ departments as I've just been told by ´óÏó´«Ã½ World that they have no plans to show Inside Sport.

I'm sad to hear this as I enjoyed the first series of Inside Sport which was shown on ´óÏó´«Ã½ World.
