In praise of Pirillo

, blogger and technology evangelist, is celebrating his 1,000th video posted to .Chris Pirillo

Pirillo is a great example of someone who has taken the web and turned it into his own publishing powerhouse.

He broadcasts live multiple times each day, using web technology like and then publishes his videos on to YouTube, where he has a
"My model for publishing video on YouTube is not to have seven people watch one video but to have one person watch seven videos," he says in his 1,000th video, explaining why he posts so regularly.

Audiences for his YouTube videos are in the hundreds and in total more than 668,000 people have watched them. But it's not about the size of the audience it's about the strength of the community.

During live broadcasts viewers can leave comments that appear live on screen and are later embedded in the YouTube video.

Pirillo talks to his audience in a way that mainstream media - the 大象传媒 included - is only beginning to understand.

His videos are on every aspect of technology, and often "how-tos" - from USB switches to backing up your computer and reviews of the latest devices and products.

He has a , a feed, the YouTube channel, a live channel and is one of the most networked people imaginable.

He also co-organises the blogging conference each year in Seattle.

Congratulations to Chris Pirillo. Here's his video:

Chris Pirillo used to have an interesting blog, but now he blogs so much and posts so many videos that the quality has dropped as the quantity has increased.

I used to have time to read his blog, but now I don't bother. I prefer to read the one daily quality post from a blogger, rather than trying to wade through 1,000 videos.

While people are able to use these new technologies for good and making themselves something, I can't help getting the feeling that at least some people are just, for example, video blogging on youtube, because they can, although they don't have anything useful or constructive to say.

The more good stuff there is, the more total rubbish will come as a consequence, and that makes me think, Why bother?

I actually discovered Chris when he reviewed PassPack [I'm a founder]. Since then I try and catch his shows whenever I can. He's fun. Real.

Good to see him getting some kudos from the 大象传媒. :)

Chris Pirillo has really made this section of the web his own. His daily videos really are a step ahead of the current publishing industry.

Many say you need a good brand name to be successful. Chris Pirillo has turned himself into a brand, something not many people can achieve.

Best of luck for the next thousand Chris.

I first heard of Chris via his podcast in March 2005. Great interviewer but the tech was over my head. I just hooked up with his blog again via Twitter, but i must say I'd rather pick and choose, and viewing 7 posts can be a bit much!

Chris is quallity. He rules!

Hey, Chris! I've been watching your stream for a few months now and I thoroughly enjoy your live streaming. You're a riot, man! Yet, you have inspired me to do many things because of you, and through your streaming, I have discovered new things. Thanks Chris!

Chris has been and more than likely will always be a fixture within the tech world. Now what people need to understand is that fixtures aren't always big or always immediately noticeable. But Chris knows his technology. What makes him a fixture though is the fact that he doesn't aspire to be number one. But he want to be relateable.

When I have watched Chris which I have been doing since he was on Techtv in the early part of this decade. He is the same guy now as he was back then. There was a very specific reason why he worked on the beginners help show on Techtv instead of the power users show they had at the time. While he doesn't lack the skills to work with more advanced problems he is able to relate to those that do not properly understand technology in a way that many people cannot.

I use to watch Pirillo on TechTV every week I remember the night he left the network, but we don't talk about that anymore. Many years later searching youtube for some thing I found live.pirillo.com. I am now part of the community and plan on staying to watch it grow.

I've been a fan of Chris even before he was on "Call for Help"
Heck, I was a fan of Chris even before he was on WHO Radio in Des Moines.

The interactive format with comments and even live chat on Ustream have only added value to the content Chris produces.
You hit the nail right on the head when you said Chris "has taken the web and turned it into his own publishing powerhouse." ;)

Chris is one of the most amusing people on line just to watch because he does a lot of silly things but he is really helpful when he is serious or is trying to be.
