Hands up who watched The Cut Music Special today??

Oh wait. I forgot I couldn't type if I put my hands in the air. Oops. If you missed it and want to see chats with the cast and crew, plus band performances and interviews, then ch-ch-check it out on iplayer right now :) /iplayer/episode/b00tp7w7/The_Cut_Music_Special/
So now you know a bit about how the music gets chosen and why certain music works for certain scenes, I felt it only right to ask some of the cast for their ideal tracklisting:
Lara (aka Marla): Ram Jam - 'Black Betty'
Billie (aka Olive): Rolling Stones - 'Wild Horses'
Ed (aka Tommy): Ben folds five - 'One Angry dwarf and 200 Solomn Faces'
Scarlett (aka Rosa): Kelis - '4th of July'
Deborah (aka Catherine): Paolo Nutini - 'Pencil Full of Led'
Hands up who's got that Friday feeling?? I have for two reasons (okay, three if you include the fact I'm going to see Legally Blonde the Musical this weekend, but that is not for now...):
1. Tomorrow on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two you can catch The Cut Music Special, where Chris and I chat to the cast and crew of The Cut to find out why certain tracks were chosen and what music they'd pick if they were in charge. There are also artist interviews and performances, plus it's a full half an hour long! Swit-swoo indeed.
So that's The Cut Music Special, Saturday, ´óÏó´«Ã½ TWO @ 12.55pm :)
2. Secondly, George, a regular on this 'ere blog, has made a fan video about the show! Horray! Before you click, remember his views are all his own (obvs), plus he uses a little swear at one point. Many thanks to you George, it's a sweeting awesome video. View it .
Well, that's it for today, Cutlets. Have a great bank holiday weekend!
OAO,

Thanks to the fantastic response we had from you all with your Olive best bits suggestions. There were so many great moments to choose from it's been hard whittling them down to make an Olive best bits montage. You guys weren't the only ones to put forward your favourite Olive moments, Cut director Sarah sent us in her best moments and we had quite a selection requested from everyone in the Switch office. Olive definitely was a much loved character, and Billie (who played Olive) will be sorely missed by all The Cut cast and crew.
So here's to Olive, cheers to Billie, and here are her best bits...

If this was Tuesday, I'd declare it TUNESday. But, err, it's not. It's Monday. So instead I'll cut (ahem) to the chase...
Samuell Benta - aka JAY in The Cut - is a talented thing and alongside his acting, he also makes music. To celebrate his return to The Cut a few weeks back he made a song about the show which you can hear by visiting (it's the last song on the playlist, called 'Welcome to The Cut').
Remember to keep sending us your fan videos and pictures - thecut@bbc.co.uk (:

Hello and happy Wednesday!
Sooo... Isla and I are making a 'Best of Olive' video for your viewing pleasure, but we want your help! What are YOUR favourite Olive moments? Leave your suggestions here as a comment or email them to thecut@bbc.co.uk by tomorrow morning and we'll include the best ones in our vid.
My personal favourite is when she sneaks out of the café for George's party with Frankie and Cameron... too good.
Also, if you've made your own Olive fan vids, feel free to send us the link!

PS. In other news, we're filming a Cut Music Special this week! More on that coming soon...
It's taken all weekend but we've eventually calmed down in the Switch office after the hiatus of last week. It was an exciting, scary and sad week for us all - exciting as we were all looking forward to the big reveal, scary because we didn't know what you'd all think, and sad because we all love Olive (and Billie) as much as you guys do. Thanks very much for all the brilliant comments on Friday and over the weekend, both on the blog and on , we read each and every one of them and loved hearing your thoughts and opinions. Keep them coming.
There were lots of comments requesting series 2 to be replayed before series 3 kicks off, and we have just enough time to fit this in for you. We're going to put the episodes up in order on The Cut homepage starting today, and with some doubling up for the first few weeks (we'll give you two episodes per day for the first three weeks) we should be able to squeeze it all in before the start of series 3. So enjoy!
Now all that's left for today is to give you the exciting video I promised on Friday. Vicki and I were lucky enough to be at the filming of the roof scene and filmed a little something ourselves, so you could all see how exactly the scene was made. There might just be a little something from Billie herself in there too. Hope you like it.
Keep watching the blog for another exclusive video this week and keep it Cut.

BOB ft. Bruno Mars - 'Nothin' On You'
Goodness - 'Rights And Wrongs'
Jonsi - 'Tornado' and 'Grow Till Tall'
Chiddy Bang ft.
MGMT - 'Opposite Of Adults'
LL Cool J - 'Mama Said Knock You Out'
Leona Lewis - 'Bleeding Love'
Scott Matthews - 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side'
Aqualung - 'Strange And Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You)'
Massive Attack - 'Heat Miser'
What? Don't talk to us right now. We're all in pieces because of...certain events. And frankly, music is all we've got keeping us going right now.
You know what it's like when you're down in the dumps. Sometimes a really sad song is what you need, sometimes it's something a bit more lively and upbeat, so you can pull yourself together. Of the selection on display here, it's tough to pick an out-and-out favourite, because it's so dependent on mood. SO, how about for one week only we pick two faves? One for the sad times and one for the happy? OK then.
So, really, I'd have to say BOB and Bruno have aced the happiness with 'Nothin' On You'. It's not as brutal as Mr Cool J's shoutython, or as all-over-the-place as Chiddy Bang. Plus that tune is summer in a can.
Meanwhile, over in Sadville...although 'Bleeding Love' is hard to argue with, and the Jonsi songs are just beautiful...Scott Matthews has to win. Because good cover versions of songs by
the Smiths are hard to come by - Session 1, you are exempt from this point - and he's done a marvellous job.
Oh, and in case you thought I'd forgotten, here's the , so that a small part of your life will be forever Olive.
*TEARY-HUGS*
PS: Now tell me your favourite/s..
Wow! No words, for once I am lost for words... almost. The final installment of The Cut is now available on iplayer, and it is an absolute shocker. For anyone who hasn't been watching through the week prepare yourself for what is, in my opinion, the best episode of The Cut ever. I recommend that you're sitting comfortably, in a silent room, with full concentration, and a small box of tissues to hand. OK a big one. Honestly, it's immense.ÌýÌýÌý
So we leave The Cut for another series - so much has happened to all of the characters - but there's much more to come. Yes, series 3 is indeed right around the corner, we've already started writing and filming and there's some great storylines ahead. There will be a short break between the series', but the first episode of series 3 will be here before you know it. In the meantime we have plenty to keep you occupied, so keep visiting the blog for exciting Cut content and updates on series 3.
Talking of exciting Cut content, your first between-series' present isÌýan exclusive backstage video. We went behind the scenes at the filming of the final scene of series 2 (yes, the roof scene) and made a 'Making of...'Ìývideo so you can find out exactly how it was filmed. Did Billie (Olive) do her own stunt? How did Connor (Alex) manage to cry for what seemed like the whole of last week? Keep your eyes on the blog this Monday to find out.
Until then, Fraser will be on hand tomorrow to fill you in on the tunes used in this week's final episode, so don't miss that.
What a week.

p.s. Two of The Cut cast members were also on the 5.19 Show yesterday chatting about the series finale, if you missed it you can watch it here.
It's the finale of series 2 but will life in The Cut ever be the same again?

Bon Iver - 'Wolves (Act I and II)'
I Am Austin - 'Suicide in May'
Fusion - 'Prototype'
Vampire Weekend - 'Run'
Band of Horses - 'The Funeral'
Tricky - 'Aftermath'
Howie Day - 'Collide'
LL Cool J - 'Phenomenon'
The Cure - 'Close To Me'
And here's the , so you can live your life to a The Cut soundtrack.
Now, it's important to state that my endless search for a No.1 in all things has initially come up with no clear winners this week. This isn't because of a lack of quality on display - and even if it was, I wouldn't tell LL Cool J, he's MUSCLEY - it's more to do with the plain, simple fact that you can't judge a song like 'Close To Me' or 'Aftermath' using the same measurements as something like 'Suicide In May'. It simply cannot be done.
So I'm awarding the prize to Bon Iver this week, for the simple reason that he recorded this song in a log cabin in the middle of a freezing wilderness. Everyone else did theirs in nice warm recording studios, so he has the moral victory.
Plus you can't hear his teeth chattering, and that must've been HARD WORK.
Over to you, what's your favourite favourite?
The next Cut episode is now on iplayer and it just keeps getting better and better. Marla's party is over but there's so much to sort out in the cold light of day, and then there's Alex... This week is the penultimate week in series 2, and so no wonder the tension is high. The series finale is next week and it's going to be a scorcher I promise, so keep watching and you won't be disappointed. Series 3 is just around the corner though, so don't worry you won't be Cut-less for too long. We'll be here to keep you entertained as well.
Seeing as the mood on The Cut has been a little intense recently, I thought I'd lighten things up with a dose of 'what if'. So, what if the girls on The Cut married the following...
If Catherine married Mr. Wheel, she'd be Catherine Wheel.
If Frankie married Mr. Furter, she'd be Frankie Furter.
But if Frankie married Mr. Stein, she'd be Frankie Stein (er...that one sort of works).
If Olive married Mr. Oil, she'd be Olive Oil.
If Marla married Mr. Maid, she'd be Marla Maid.
If Amy married Mr. Nonymous, she'd be A. Nonymous (we know Nonymous isn't a real surname - imaginations please).
If Rosa married Mr. Boat, she'd be Rosa Boat.
If Fin married Mr. Ish, she'd be Fin Ish.
Er...that's where we ran out of steam and decided to get on with some real work. But if you guys can do any better, join the fun by posting below.
Have a great weekend.

Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream
Two Door Cinema Club - You Are Not Stubborn
REM - Superman
Magic Wands - Black Magic
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen
Fox Sing Abroad (courtesy of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Introducing) - Lost In Rome
Taken By Trees - Sweet Child Of Mine
Basement Jaxx - Day Of The Sunflowers
Basement Jaxx Featuring Yo Majesty - Twerk
Spice Girls - Wannabe
The National - Runaway
Example - Kickstarts
Coldplay - The Scientist
LCD Soundsystem - Someone Great
And here's the .
This week has been a no-contest, no-rounds, no-question knockout from the start.
Superman by REM is better than almost all music ever. So even though the Taken By Trees twee-pop cover of Sweet Child o' Mine is brilliant, even though Coldplay's The Scientist changed almost all (grownup) pop music forever, and even though Example, Basement Jaxx and LCD Soundsystem are the dark beating heart of every amazing disco you've ever been to, Superman wins. Superman always wins.
Don't believe me? Try sitting down with a friend and working out the harmonies.
You: "I am..."
Friend: "I am..."
Together: "I am Superman, and I know what's happening."
I'm telling you, it's not possible to have more fun that this. Even kryptonite can't stop it.
But if there's even the thinnest chance that I might be wrong, I want to hear about it. Which is your favourite Cut song this week?
