Typical of the world we live in. No one is held responsible for any errors or mistakes. politicians, those individuals of the media etc, never 'fall on the sword.' Do you wonder why we no longer trust the Politicians and media. No integrity. Responsibilty appears to be just a word in the dictionary, It's meaning,????!
Re. the "Queen" story yesterday.
Throughout all the coverage on News 24, bulletins, Newsnight etc., with repeated showings of the alleded "strop", I'm surprised that no one commented on the fact that Her Majesty was INDEED having a strop. It's obvious that she was already fed up BEFORE the photo session, and note especially her flat-hands-down dismissal of any more messing about as she strides to her appointment with the photographer.
It's still a great coup, even if the edit was incorrect. It's not the ´óÏó´«Ã½ who should apologise, it's the crew at RDF who should grovel - though I guess Marchant is correct when he says they should have checked the accuracy of the edit and the actuality of the story line.
So the real stroy is - Yes, her Madge is having a strop, but not necessarily in the order we described it. Shades of "all the right notes, sunshine, but not necessarily in the right order" (Morcambe & Wise & Andre Previn - still the funniest piece of television - EVER !)
Everyone who is not hard-right is hard- left of the EXPRESS so, in a way, Frederick Forsyth has a point.
When a story makes the ´óÏó´«Ã½ news, this is where any response should be broadcast.
So when the ´óÏó´«Ã½ is found out deceiving and cheating the audience, the ´óÏó´«Ã½ news is where the ´óÏó´«Ã½ apology should appear, if merited.
So where was the Director General apologising on screen to the Queen and licence-payer for mistakes? why was the ´óÏó´«Ã½ 'apology' anonymous and unattributed? Isn't the Queen important enough?
Former US President Truman displayed a notice on his desk: 'The buck stops here'. The ´óÏó´«Ã½ Director General should be as courageous and not hide away from the ´óÏó´«Ã½ audience and public.
