I think this is a bit pathetic really on Channel 5's decision not to use "nod" shots. Gaining trust from the audience requires honesty, integrity and the adherance to appropriate standards from a broadcaster. Editing does not impact on any of those as long as the editing itself is honest, has integrity and meets standards. Placing a noding shot, or a scene setting shot is completely appropriate to a story as long as they do not try to alter the meaning of the peice or create a bias that does not or should not exist.
